  • "We had an amazing time."

Kath was such a caring and attentive host. Lived next door, there when we needed her for advice but very discreet so we definitely felt like we had privacy. The property was so cute, clean and cosy. The log fire kept us so warm. The hot tub was wow! In it every night even in the rain! The horses were lovely. Our little boy loved to walk across and visit them. Kath let us meet her lovely friendly dogs too as our son was dying to meet them. One of the most relaxing holidays we've had so we highly recommend this property.

  • "Really lovely converted barn, the log burner was really lovely with plenty of wood."

Really nice welcome package from the owners including wine, milk, welsh cakes and doggy treats. Unfortunately If you’re allergic to horses it’s not the place for you, the air surrounding the barn smells of horses so my allergies were bad the whole time. The hot tub is lovely however it is overlooked by the owners which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. The bed and pillows needs replacing, they weren’t particularly comfortable, especially for a whole week, we both have stiff backs and necks. The stairs up to the bedroom are extremely steep so be careful, I almost slipped a few times. We took our dogs and so it was great having them with us all cosy however the enclosed garden I wouldn’t say was completely enclosed if your dogs like mine can jump high and get into any nook and cranny. There is a huge old static caravan in the garden which my dogs kept getting under to eat something and we often couldn’t entice them out. It’s worth noting that any deliveries for the owners seem to knock on the barn door first as it’s the first property they see, think they could do with a sign or something. I don’t want this to sound like a bad review because the owners were so generous and kind however for us there are some improvements to be made. In general it was lovely, the log burner was our favourite and I can imagine a lot of people would love it there but I just don’t think the stay was for us. But thank you for the hospitality.

Loved the hot tub and the balcony bedroom. Our little boy was excited to go and see the horses every morning. Was a lovely little break. Only issue we had was with the WiFi speeds, but thats to be expected in such a rural setting. Would definitely recommend!

  • "Lovely cottage, excellent location."

Burry Port harbour and Pembrey Country Park are both stunning! We also visited Kidwelly Castle one afternoon, which didn’t cost much and we thoroughly enjoyed. The owners were away on our first night but text a few times to check that everything was ok (which was really appreciated) A bottle of wine was in the table when we arrived... that’s the kind of welcome I like!! The cottage is on working livery and is busy at times, the horses, stables and surrounding facilities are well used. Most mornings they have quite an early start. We enjoyed watching the riders and jumpers and meeting the horses by the stables. The owners have several dogs, some of which bark at you when you go to your car but one in particular just loved being fussed! The dogs didn’t bother us one bit, in fact we looked forward to seeing them each day. The cottage has everything you need and more! We enjoyed using the hot tub each night after being out for the day. (Little tip...shake the towels to check for spiders before you use them) I think they like to stay nice and warm whilst they are not in use! My daughter screamed like someone was murdering her when one fell on her foot as she got out of the shower! We made sure we checked after that! This is somewhere we would happily book again and have already recommended it to our family and friends.

We went on day trips to local attractions such as Tenby (please put a visit here on your to do list- it was stunning), Carmarthen- (wonderful shopping), Pembrey country park- lots to do including access to the beautiful beach area. Our dogs were made to feel very welcome and really enjoyed the garden. The hot tub was amazing- absolutely huge! Very clean, well maintained and private. Would certainly return.

It was lovely to be able to bring our own dog and the owners were also very friendly and happy to leave us to have privacy unless we had questions for them about the area. We loved it and would come back, although I would do a big food shop and bring as much as possible with us next time because there are no big supermarkets close by, however there are a number of co-ops in the surrounding towns so we didn't struggle to buy things we needed.

  • "The cottage is on a working livery which was a treat for the children."

The host was extremely friendly and supplied us everything we needed. When we showed an interest in the horses she was very chatty and told us the background of many of the horses. The farm is very quiet and safe so the children and our little dog could happily wander around. The cottage itself was clean well equipped and exactly as per the pictures. The hot tub out back is clean and much bigger than I had thought so the kids loved it. On arrival the host had left cake sweets wine and dog treats which was a lovely welcome package. There is loads to do in the local area particularly the amazing beach at Burry Port, the multitude of activities at Pembrey Country park and we had a lovely day our to Mumbles. We would definitely recommend and we would definitely stay again!

  • "I cannot reccomend this place enough."

I stayed here for a weekend away with my partner and my dog. Kath was extremely lovely, we were greeted with flowers, a pint of milk, some Welsh cakes, a bottle of wine and some doggy treats. Kath was so helpful and available to answer any questions or queries, however, everything was accommodated for us so did not feel the need to ask anything.  The hot tub was just amazing, it was extremely easy to use and was so peaceful to get into to and just relax. Likewise, the logburner created a cosy feel making the weekend even more enjoyable. I cannot understand how there are any negative comments. Although the family have 5 dogs, we did not see them. There was a large metal gate separating their house from the cottage so it would have not been an issue if we did see the dogs. There was also an enclosed garden at the back of the cottage so our dog had his own space to run around whilst we were in the hot tub, and we did not have to worry about him escaping at all, he loved the breaks just as much as we did! Despite there being a working stables, we were not woken by any noises and the cottage felt lovely and quiet. It was so clean, the carpet and furniture were immaculate, you would never believe it was dog friendly. You had all the essentials needed and there were even a wide selection of DVDs and a couple of board games for entertainment.  Can honestly say this was one of the most relaxing weekend breaks I have had. I will most definitely book again. Thank you Kath and the family :)

And I didn't see a book to put your name to say you've been there. But it was a lovely place near to everything.clean tidy the fire was even laid ready for us too use. • "One of the best short break holiday I have ever had."

To start with the delightful cottage and lovely owner. Beautifully converted barn with a woodburner. Well, who couldn't like a woodburner, particularly with kindling and wood ready for use. Made the cottage toasty warm, which you do need as the beautiful wood ceiling is quite high so can strike chilly until the heaters are kicking out warmth. Everything is immaculately clean - you wouldn't know it was dog friendly (a problem I've encountered in the past). And comfortable beds just make everything perfect. Don't forget that it is a working stables, so whinnies and neighs can excite your dogs if they're not used to them (ours weren't). And the owner does have 5 dogs, but they were kept their side of the gate, so no problems there. Oh, did I forget the Jacuzzi? Bliss. So relaxing after a hard day walking in Pembrey Park. And we booked without knowing Pembrey Park was close. Heaven for both our dogs and us. The walks were good and safe, with access to a sandy beach which literally stretches for miles. I'd better stop now or you'll think I'm exaggerating, but no, great short break for my daughter and me. We will be back!

  • "Ers have 5 very large dogs which was not mentioned in listing."

Despite owners request to keep gate closed, they did not adhere to their own rules, and their large dogs regularly came to our living area, causing issues with our pets. There were extensive building works directly opposite the accommodation including a JCB and constant noise and traffic. Not conducive to a relaxing break. Again not mentioned in listing. Externally the cottage was scruffy and neglected with debris and rubbish around, plus a large static caravan in the garden which was not shown in pictures and contributed to the cluttered feel. Hot tub had overpowering stench of chlorine suggesting safe levels not adhered to. Gate to garden in need of repair and caused sleep disturbance on windy night (10/09/18). The accommodation had not been cleaned for months. Hairs, food, sticky floors/tables, discarded socks of previous guests, black grout in shower, smelly oven, etc... Generally untidy with large items e.g. Hoover, high chair etc, left out in small living space, necessitating tidying up on arrival. No toilet roll was provided for arrival despite remote location. Threadbare towels and tatty throws in need of replacing. Fridge door in need of repair which meant we could not buy food that required chilling. No remote for tv or dvd. Tv in need of replacing due to blown speakers. Tv in child’s bedroom has no aerial so clearly never worked, unsure of its purpose. We left a day early and left a note for the owners, we thought they might contact to provide a refund but have heard nothing. We did say we would not leave bad feedback online, but their lack of acknowledgment suggests they may continue to provide substandard service to others. My time and money was wasted and would not want others to do the same. I have never left a negative review but this deserves it.

It was the well deserved break we had hoped for. We felt very welcome, yet we got exactly what we wanted in the form of a self catering cottage. The cottage was so cosy and homely, being an animal lover I also adored the neighbouring horses and dogs! My dog thoroughly enjoyed his stay too, its only a short drive to the beach so he got to play in the sand every day! Its a lovely rural location yet also only a short drive from the shops and local towns and villages. We spent most days exploring, we even hired bikes at the local country park, other days were spent enjoying the hot tub and resting up! Overall we loved it so much we didn't want to come home! Highly recommend and would definitely love to return!

The house is well equiped - we had everything we needed for a family of 5 (including 1 baby). For the price we were very pleased. As a note; another review said about the dogs next door...there is a gate between the holiday house and where they live which was kept closed so they really weren’t an issue. Access to the garden was fine and kath got the dogs in the house if we needed to get onto her drive.
