  • "Lovely cottage as described."

Very clean and helpful owner. Beautiful location. We went to a wedding so only there for a short time.

  • "The cottage is pretty and very charming."

We loved particularly the crooked walls and floor in the main bedroom and the amazing fire place. It was very well equipped with all we could need for cooking a Christmas dinner. Location was perfect. Not too rural but nicely placed for both Brecon and Abergavenny. We had some problems with the heating but were able to manage with the wood burner and didn’t find out until afterwards that we could have had the thermostat turned up remotely by the owners. It would be handy for that info to be made available in the excellent cottage info book provided. The only other thing is that the three piece suite needs replacing. The base appears to have failed and having an elderly relative with us she had a distressing incident when first sitting on the sofa and realising that it had no support and she couldn’t get up. We all had quite bad backs after sitting for any length of time. Overall, this is a lovely cottage and we would definitely stay again.

The sofa and chairs has been replaced and thank you for bringing this to our attention. It's very difficult to get the heating right. I was a bit disappointed to get this feedback as it is made clear in the welcome pack and when I spoke to you on the phone to contact us with any problems. We hope enjoyed the extra fairy lights we put in at your request! X Property Owner

  • "Talworth is a lovely property - comfortable and spotless."

There was plenty of everything- towels, logs, toilet paper and comfy throws. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could need. The Welsh cakes and milk were much appreciated. Ceri thoughtfully texted to see if we needed the external light on to help us when we arrived. The location is wonderful for access to Crickhowell, Tretower and Brecon for sightseeing and walking. The weather was terrible, but we curled up in front of the lovely log burner. We had a great meal in the New Inn which is just steps away - no need for a designated driver. We thorough recommend Talworth.

The cottage is very well equipped, clean and comfortable with good access for exploring locally or slightly further out. Although on a main road there was very little noise disturbance. Communication from start to finish, and the information pack was excellent. We would certainly stay here again, diolch Ceri

  • "The cottage was lovely but the holiday was spoilt by the 20 mph speed limits."

Ceri was a very welcoming host and left treats for us and our dog plus sent a welcoming text. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The pub next door was brilliant and the Brecon Beacons location superb. In theory there was ample parking. An SUV is a real no no here. We took the recommended scenic tour through the valleys and it took 5 hours. Every other trip was the same so we abandoned all plans to go further afield to Cardiff and Newport. Not only that but the superb A40 and A465 dual carriageways are now limited to 50mph with speed cameras everywhere. I have been coming to Wales for over 50 years since I was a kid but have cancelled my holiday plans to Wales for next year. A real shame but in reality other parts of Britain are far more welcoming and easier to get around.

  • "We had a lovely week staying at Talworth."

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and in a perfect position for walking in the local area. We had a very rainy week so really enjoyed the fire in the evenings - and there was plenty of wood which was really appreciated! The kitchen was well stocked and very clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The only thing that let the place down was the shower cubicle which is really in need of replacement. We had a wonderful day at Trecastle (such an interesting place and with really friendly guides), and the nearby canal was a great alternative walk when the clouds were too low to walk on the hills. We would definitely recommend Talworth as a place to stay!

The kitchen was very well equipped and we had everything we needed generally. The location is perfect for walks and visits and we appreciated the info folder (and Ceri's welcome text with recommendations, both for house details and also the local area. There's so much to see and do and we would certainly consider a return to the same cottage. We recommend the New Inn for good value pub food, and Big Pit for a really fantastic museum visit. Great holiday all round.

  • "We stayed at this cute little cottage for the wettest week in July, but it didn't stop us."

It is an excellent base for walking in the beautiful Brecons, and although it is small, it was the perfect fit for myself, my husband and our Labrador, Arlo. We took a crate for Arlo to sleep in overnight downstairs, as he wasn't allowed upstairs. There was plenty of space for our large crate, and he sleeps happily in it. The dining part of the downstairs room has a very slippery vinyl type floor though, which he hated and which nearly took us out a few times (don't wear socks on it...lethal!). The fire adds a really cosy feel to the room and we did use it in the evenings as it did get a little chilly, but there was plenty of wood and firelighters left to make this a very simple job. The local pub, The New Inn, is a stones throw away and very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We managed to squeeze a booking in for our last night there and the food was lovely. I recommend trying the locally made Gin. Can't remember the name, but it is only made in very small batches and not available anywhere to buy by the bottle apparently. Very tasty. John, the nextdoor neighbour (shared parking area) is a very sweet soul and gave us some excellent local tips on places to walk, roads to avoid, and where to find anything we needed. Always happy to help, and even contacted some of his friends for info when he was unable to answer questions himself. Do say hello to him if you stay. The local shop has unfortunately closed down, but there are plenty in Crickhowell which is just a short drive away. The Butchers there are particularly good and we managed to get a knuckle bone for Arlo on Wednesday morning (as they do all the cuts on Tuesdays). Ceri, the cottage owner is lovely and very responsive. She dropped us a message on the day of arrival with some lovely local tips of good places to eat etc. She also left a very full folder of info and leaflets at the cottage. Well worth a rummage. We followed one of the leafleted walks up to Table Mountain on our first day. Strenuous, but stunning views. We had a wonderful holiday and our new found love of the Brecons has us keen to return. I would happily stay at Talworth again.

  • "Excellent location to explore the area."

The cottage is quiet, despite being on a main road. We had very good local information from the owner. It feels a little in need of some maintenance though. Damp on the roof in the bathroom and shower seals. Also no storage areas. Only one hanging rail for two bedrooms and absolutely nowhere to put anything in the bathroom or shower cubicle. There is plenty of space for a few more shelves/cupboards etc. Nice pub 2 doors down but we couldn't get a table for food till midweek so book early ! The logs provided were very handy as the lounge was cool in the evening, even in June. Beautiful area.

  • "Had a great stay here."

There was some residue mould in the shower cubicle, nothing major to think you can't shower in there, but it was visible. Kitchen well equipped and plenty of storage space for your items. Huge comfortable bed and cosy place to stay. We would consider going back again. Owner kept us updated before we arrived. Also recommended places to eat and visit. Nice welcome pack and useful folder, for walks and places to look at etc.Garden was good for our dog,no gaps in the fence etc. We didn't have a problem with the parking and we have a 4x4 pickup vehicle, despite reading previous reviews,it was easy to park in there. On the whole a really nice cottage. Perfect base to visit Brecon,Crickhowell,Talybont,Abergavenny and surrounding countryside. Thank you so much.

  • "This is a lovely cottage in a great location for local walks and exploring further afield."

The cottage was clean and we had everything we needed. The main bed was really comfy and a treat being a superking. Our only two comments for feedback would be we found ourselves having to hoover up lots and lots of woodlice every day, they were everywhere downstairs, some treatment needed. Then the heating seemed a bit hit & miss and didn’t really stay on for long in the evening so we did get a bit chilly, especially after a day of long, wet walks. Apart from that we would come back as only small points.

Everything was very clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The log burner was fab and was easy to use. Unlike some cottages I have stayed in, there was a generous amount of logs and kindling so no need to buy your own. The walks around the area were great and there is a good pub practically next door. Only minor downside was the 9am checkout which I thought was a bit early. I would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "Instead of a making a B+B reservation for a couple of days break, we decided to book a cottage to enable us to invite round family members living in Brecon for BBQ on the Saturday afternoon of Bank Holiday Weekend."

We found Talworth charming and fully equipped with everything anyone would need to enjoy a fabulous holiday. However, we got to spend very little time at the accommodation during our three day break due to the incessant noise/dust created by the large equipment being used to knock down stone walls and smash up concrete slabs at the front of the cottage next door. It really was a dreadful racket reverberating both inside and outside when attempting to sit in the patio area; this started quite early each morning. Needless to say our plans had to be changed causing a great deal of inconvenience and necessitating us having to stay away from the cottage until the back end of each day. Perhaps you may like to warn any future holidaymakers of possible disturbances from the adjoining cottage whilst it is undergoing renovations. We were very disappointed overall at not being able to enjoy our Bank Holiday accommodation, it was akin to being next to a construction site!
