“We would definitely recommend this House to holiday in as it’s huge & very high spec decor & furniture.”

The kitchen was so well equipped & super high quality cooker, hob, fridge freezer & tons of work surface to dish up. I was impressed with the amount of lovely gifts of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, butter, crusty bread & a bottle of wine (thanks) ...

The kitchen was so well equipped & super high quality cooker, hob, fridge freezer & tons of work surface to dish up. I was impressed with the amount of lovely gifts of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, butter, crusty bread & a bottle of wine (thanks) The children were super happy to have the use of so many gadgets & games, PS4, Wii & a cupboard upstairs full of board games & books. Even a Tv in every room with WiFi access to Netflix etc. This house is so spacious & comfy I would have loved to be able to have stayed longer. There is a very big secure garden which our dog loved. The local shop has a great choice of foods & was only a few steps away. The River Teifi is so close to walk to & is a very steep walk down so anyone with difficulty walking would find it a struggle. My dog was worn out after that walk. This house is set back off the high street & looks small from the front but is a massive house for any family to enjoy. This quaint little village is a great place to base yourself & investigate mid Wales, Cardigan Bay, New Quay, Aberaeron & Aberporth beaches were our favourite places to go. We will definitely be booking this holiday home again a real gem home from home.

The property

Nestled in the heart of the village of Cilgerran on the fringes of Cardigan, known as the magical gateway to the Teifi Valley and the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire Coastal Paths, is Gwelcoed.

This charming detached cottage offers a modern finish throughout, and is a well-presented holiday let for families and friends looking to explore this beautiful region.

Head through the entrance hall and find the sitting room, where you can fully unwind after a day exploring the coast with the warmth of the gas fire taking the chill off a winter's evening.

Move through to the sunny dining room, which offers a large sofa, TV and French doors out to the garden, and enjoy a home-cooked meal together, prepared in the fully-equipped kitchen next door.

Once you are fully relaxed, head upstairs to the bedrooms, where you will find two doubles and a master king-size bedroom with wonderful views of the countryside, ideal for six guests, with the family bathroom serving all three.

On a warm summer's day, you can make the most of your enclosed garden to the rear, where the dog can play with the children on the lawn as you sip a refreshing drink and watch on by from the patio.

There is a lovely local shop/post office selling fresh produce, bread and newspapers only a few metres away and three village pubs to enjoy within walking distance.

Natural beauty, abundant wildlife, varied landscape, a rugged coastline and many sandy beaches surround you, for fun-packed days out with all the family.

You can brush up on your history with a visit to the National Trust's Cilgerran Castle or enjoy some of the walking and cycling routes in the area.

Cilgerran is also home to The Welsh Wildlife Centre and Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve, which promises a day of nature trails on foot or two wheels, playing in the adventure playground and discovering the willow maze.

You can even glimpse otters playing in the river, birds taking shelter on the ponds and during the spring, the woodlands are carpeted with bluebells.

Explore the bustling market town of Cardigan with its tea rooms, shops, pubs, ruined castle and the Cardigan Island Farm Park.

You also have the Pembrokeshire National Park, the commanding Preseli Hills offering a wild, moorland landscape and the whole of the sweeping Pembrokeshire Coast to indulge.

A stunning destination for a holiday, with this homely base to return to.
