    “We have stayed in many holiday cottages and I think that this was the best equipped.”

    Usually there is something missing (e.g. hairdryer, sharp kitchen knife ) but everything was easily to hand at Clock Barn. The owners were friendly and accessible, if needed. I would happily stay there again.

Trefecca Farm Cottages

Positioned on the northern fringes of the Brecon Beacons, near the market town of Talgarth and the wildlife-rich Pwll y Wrach Nature Reserve, these stone-built barn conversions rest within a working farmyard. Boasting a central location, this is a wonderful base for touring the area, with plenty of activities to cater for all tastes and abilities. There is horse riding, fabulous walks through the Black Mountains and an array of watersports on the beautiful Llangorse Lake nearby. You can launch your own craft from the boat hire centre, hire a canoe and even try stand-up paddle-boarding. Afterwards you can sight a plethora of birds and wildlife within the Llangasty Nature Reserve, which leads off from the western shores of the lake. The popular town of Builth Wells is definitely worth a visit, especially for its festival each year. You are also close to Hay-on-Wye and the border to England. Choose to spend your next holiday in one of these charming barn conversions wrapped in all the delights of South Wales.

TALGARTH

Builth Wells 15 miles; Llandrindod Wells 22 miles

A pleasant town just outside of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. Talgarth is a historical town baring many old and beautiful buildings such as a 13th century peel tower, now the Information Centre, and a 14th century church, it was also once inhabited by Romans once upon a time. The town has plenty to do in the way of gliding, pony trekking and plenty of walking opportunities through the well-known Black Mountains. The rivers Ennig and Ellywe run through the town, it is also home to the Pwllwrach Wood, said to bare a lake where witches were drowned many years ago. Talgarth has two gastro-pubs, a cafe and shops to enjoy at your lesure. The Tabernacle venue hosts many events such as musicals, plays, talks and book launches, the town really does cater for everybody. The popular town of Builth Wells is within easy access and is certainly worth a visit, as is Llandrindod Wells slightly further north.
