  • "A charming old Welsh farm cottage preserved in a 'period' style."

It reminded me of my granny's home in Llanelli! That all the furniture was 'in keeping' was endearing, although the sofas are in need of a 're-foam' to restore their comfort. Delith, the owner, contacted me a few days in advance of our booking to clarify access arrangements, which was much appreciated, as was the milk, bottle of good red wine, and Welshcakes that were left for us. First question on this feedback form was: 'How likely are you to recommend us?", which, I presume relates to Sykes Holiday Cottages and NOT the property itself. I have scored this '2' only. The Sykes team was not helpful. When I was forced to amend our dates of stay, there appeared to be no way of incorporating a special offer price that had been posted in the interim as 'Computer says no.' Instead, I had to cancel and rebook, which was a pain and took numerous 'phone calls.

Great amount of space for the whole family and really good proximity to some spectacular beaches, coastlines, lovely villages and the smallest city in the UK, St David's. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Very well equipped and comfortable. Cleaning products in the cupboard made life easier and there were some games that we played on our one rainy day. Plenty to do and see in the local area and there were plenty of leaflets in the house which gave us ideas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. Easter eggs for the kids was a nice touch. Thank you

  • "The cottage was very isolated and quiet."

It was clean and mostly well equipped. Lots of plates, crockery etc and really good frying pans but no lidded bowls for microwave cooking that I could find. The welcome pack was very nice. The house was cosy and warm except for the shower room which was unheated. The double glazing was very effective. We were in touch with the owner about the heating and were happy with her response. Some safety issues not mentioned in the description or comments: The children’s bedroom door opens directly on to the stairs and the edge of the stairs cuts across the doorway. The doorframes on most of the doors are low, the bathroom door about 5’ 5”. My tall husband cracked his head on them a number of times leaving him bruised and bloodied. I check all photos and try not to select properties to rent with low ceilings or beams but didn’t spot the doorframes. The bath seemed deep and long but had no non slip mat or grab rails. The glimpses of the sea were lovely when the weather was kind. The beds were comfortable. The towels were a decent quality and we were advised to bring bath sheets if required.

Other than that the place is great. Have been going to bank house farm for almost 10 years and can see the improvements that have been made over the years. It is a fantastic holiday location with plenty to do round and about or just enjoy the farmhouse and ground's.

I’ve already recommended bank house farm to all my colleagues at work and my family and the price cannot be beaten extremely amazing value for a week, only really drawback was the weather but we both went outside every day swimming and exploring

  • "The cottage is beautiful and quirky only let down by hard beds - which is probably to other peoples taste and only 1 pillow each - we had to buy some cheap ones."

Apart from that a lovely time has been had by all. Plenty of space for everyone. The description of the cottage facilities does not say travel cot and high chair - both of which we brought with us and found they were supplied also a stairgate. The utility is really big and handy for storage also the walk in pantry. To be able to have a sea view while sitting at the table or having a shower is a bonus. Star gazing at night and spotting shooting stars is a treat not to be had living in a city.

  • "Bank House Farm is surprisingly big inside, we were 3 adults so plenty of room."

The beds were comfortable but we found the lounge furniture uncomfortable, especially in the "tv room". We had a couple of issues that needed attention and they were dealt with very promptly by the owners. There could be a few more glasses, plates and dishes so that the dishwasher wouldn't need running everyday, definitely more than 5 teaspoons and lids that fit the saucepans! Although there is a big hall and good size utility room there wasn't an ideal place to hang wet jackets. The biggest downside was the old farm buildings very close to the house and blocking the lovely views out to sea, although they would protect the house from an on shore wind. There is a picnic bench but there doesn't seem to be an ideal position for it. Unfortunately we didn't have the weather to use it. It is in a windy spot and that together with the old farm buildings would prevent us from going back.

Everything was provided to make us feel welcome and ensure a comfortable stay. Owners are friendly and helpful. We were a mixed age group (one 62 yr old and the rest teens and twenties) I loved the second sitting room which allowed me space to relax away from the boisterousness of the younger members of our trip and the TV! The outside space was also well appreciated as was the large kitchen table which allowed us time together to play games (provided by the owner) and eat meals. I hope to be able to book again sometime soon!

Unfortunately, we had 3 storms during our stay, which meant the power was disrupted almost every day, however, this actually added something special to our holiday, as we had the opportunity to enjoy each other’s undivided attention! The house was comfy, cosy, reassuringly traditional & had plenty of room for all 3 generations of our family - it has been one of the best holidays we have had, both for the house itself & the surrounding area The owners were lovely & made us feel very welcome - Pembrokeshire is one of the most amazing places in the world, the breathtaking scenery, lovely towns & villages & the friendly locals made it a pleasure and we will definitely be back as there is so much more of the coastline we’d like to explore

Holiday in early June, you do take your chances. Had some lovely walks around the coastline seeing areas I had not explored before. We parked by Whitesands Beach St Davids for the last walk which was lovely. We did have a hiccup with the bath-the washer on the tap broke. However, Sykes and the owners sorted it out. It is an old property with a lot of charm and life is never perfect. I've stayed here before and that speaks volumes really because we came back! It felt like returning home. The dishwasher is a definite bonus and it is a great property with lots of parking space. We needed this as we were 3 parties so had to accommodate 3 cars. The view from my bedroom window was beautiful-a field of sheep-so peaceful.

The farmhouse itself is spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating 5 adults and 2 children. It is almost a 1960s/70s time-capsule, having that feel of times gone by. It has a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, and utility room with washing machine and a large fridge freezer. There is no WiFi, but there is 4G coverage so you can create your own hot-spot if needed.

We were in a great location to visit all the highlights of the area and enjoyed beautiful coastal walks at Strumble head, Solva and Abereiddy. My only problem was that we have three small children and there was no where to walk with them without going on roads with no pavements. There was a small Spar shop in the garage about a mile away but if you needed more groceries St Davids of Haverfordwest were the nearest and virtually you had to go everywhere by car. The area was beautiful and it would have been fine if our children had not been so young.
