  • "The house was clean and comfortable."

Everything we needed was provided and we were especially grateful to have milk, cheese, bread, butter and cake left for us by the owner. The village is very quiet and peaceful but is well placed for exploring the area, by car or by train.

  • "The cottage had the basics for a two night stay but the comforts were not of a particularly high standard."

The mugs in the kitchen were not clean (tea stains) and the glasses were a mish mash of styles and one was not clean. There were only 2 bowls despite the cottage being for 4 people. This did not trouble us but I would not see this as a well equipped cottage and the standard of pans, crockery, glassware etc. was not that high in terms of condition and cleanliness. Thankfully, we did not need to cook. There were a few cobwebs - from the bathroom cabinet to the toilet shelf, above the front door as examples - and I was concerned enough to take photographs because of the threat of losing the £100 bond I had paid. We left the cottage as we found it. We did find the warnings not to touch the boiler or increase any use of the heating (as it was set) as the oil was low made us concerned. The cottage was chilly. The electric fire in the downstairs room did not really help that much even with the doors closed and the curtain pulled across the front door. It is not that I want to paint a bad picture here. Its just that that had we been staying for a week, we would have found the experience below what we would expect and disappointing. For £350 for two nights, it did not live up to expectations. We did have a lovely time in Ferryside catching up with friends which was the purpose of our visit.

  • "Wonderful accomodation, so clean that really stood out, often when going away I feel uncomfortable as bit of a phobia on cleanliness but not this place."

Location is stunning so quiet and very olde worlde. Host communicates so well and very supportive. Cannot recommend it enough. Thank you.

  • "We were able to have queries answered by text messages which and had quickly replies."

We were able to get WIFI by request. The accommodation is close to the railway station and the day return to Carmarthen, for instance, was only £4.20 which was good value.

  • "This cottage (3 bedrooms - 5 foot wide double, twin room at the back and bunk beds in 3rd."

) is cosy and quirky. Great to see a full size fridge freezer and local shop is open long hours. Easy to park right outside, although soon found out you have to drive in via tiny access road as the road of address is a one way street. Cottage provided an excellent base for exploring. We had trouble phoning the mobile number given for sorting out details - (phone signal is in a weak area), so it's much better to text. We always got an instant answer that way. Sofa could do with more cushions, although there are plenty in the cottage if you look. Armchair is very comfortable.

Thank you so much for your comments. We are glad to hear that you have enjoyed your stay and you loved the cottage. Some of the cushions were removed due to the covid regulations and recommendations on covid hygiene measures. Thank you again for the lovely review. Property Owner

  • "It was actually BETTER than the listing' for example we were able to access wi-fi on request (not listed)."

Parking was very easy, but looked a bit pessimistic on the listing. Nice flat-screen TV.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Y Garth."

The cottage was very clean and cosy, and I loved the quirkyness of it. Great selection of books, and I particularly liked being able to read up on castles before we visited them. It was more spacious than it appeared in the photos; there were 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 teens, and we never felt cramped. The village shop is excellent and open long hours, and the beach lovely.

  • "A lovely little cottage; simple, comfortable and cosy."

Ferryside is a lovely place too with a great beach for walking. It's not touristy at all, just a lovely little seaside village, a great place to get away from it all. Our host was very hospitable and helpful.

  • "The owner had clearly put a lot of effort into making the cottage comfortable and welcoming."

I appreciated that she got milk in for when we arrived.

  • "Location was lovely, Ferryside was a perfect spot."

Although it’s not hugely convenient for large supermarkets, the Coop in Kidwelly is fine. I liked the fact that Ferryside is off the tourist trail, the beach was quiet and a couple of minute walk from the cottage. It could be perfectly doable to leave your car behind here too. There were regular trains to Carmarthen and Llanelli/Swansea and the cycle route to Kidwelly/Llanelli/Swansea is pretty flat and easy though not so to Carmarthen though!
