  • "Unfortunately both bedrooms have damp issues, ineffectively disguised by a multitude of air fresheners around the property."

One bed sheet was so badly stained that I swapped it with the spare. That aside, the cottage had all of the facilities you'd require for a break, and the views are stunning.

  • "My husband and I love Cable Cottage."

It’s a place to just chill out and relax. We love watching the Stena lines comes in and out and watching the sea change over the course of the stay. The only thing I have trouble with is the sette. Its old sits very low to the ground and is a struggle to get up from it. Many of us suffer from back troubles and this does not help. I can understand the comments posted regarding the worn settee. We were told they were looking into replacing it last year but as of this posting have not. I would still recommend the cottage just pull the chair out of the bedroom and use that to sit in. Looking forward to booking next year

  • "Its location and views are second to none, always really nice to return to after time away, looking forward to re-visiting."

Coped with the storm without issue, felt snug inside as the weather unfolded. (Yep the sofa is past its best (stool & chair now by main window for view out), the fan function faulty on large oven but convection works... don't let this distract you from staying as its a great place)

  • "Situated with a lovely view, but let down by lack of upkeep by owners."

The seating is tired and worn out with any support in cushions long gone. You sink in and you knees end up much higher than your hips. Definitely needs replacing. Previous comments left by guests in comments book support this and other minuses such as light on stairs not working. Do the owners actually read the comments book?

The interior is very nicely fitted out, but needs a bit of TLC in a few places, eg window blind repairs. We have stayed in the cottage several times over the years. There is nothing to beat it!!. The hosts are very helpful if you have a problem.

The views are fantastic and the cows are lovely neighbours. We had fresh milk and eggs and plenty of loo roll left for us which was lovely. It was all very relaxed and you are left alone to enjoy your holiday which we liked. There are some areas that need some attention in the cottage though I.E. windows - many panes are blown, the fan oven doesn’t work but conventional does, the sofa needs replacing, broken shower tray, carpets need cleaning, window walls addressed in downstairs bedroom, light switches not working on the stairs, bulbs intermittent in bathroom. It is a lovely place, just needs some TLC and maintenance as per other comments.

Just a couple of issues that could have been addressed. Several light bulbs needed replacing, one being over the stairs. This had been mentioned in the guest book several times. Also we have stayed in rentals for over 40 years and never arrived to no toilet paper in the house, even half a roll would suffice.

  • "The view is fabulous and the cottage was clean and well equipped, and everything worked."

Unfortunately, the lovely leather sofa is past its best and if one sat on it one sank so low one could not see the view, or stand up again. There were no bedside tables or lamps in the lower bedroom, which was awkward. \there was no loo paper when we arrived - fortunately we had brought our own, but one would expect at least one roll after a long journey. Some of the light bulbs need replacing. Although we knocked on the owner's door there was no response and we had no contact with them at all, which felt a little strange. We felt that the cottage is being run as an efficient commercial proposition, but without any personal care.

Cows to the left, sheep to the right plus pheasants, rabbits and numerous wild birds. Brilliant views of the harbour and out to sea - we carried in the chair from the bedroom to be able to sit and watch the world go by, including the ferry come in and cruise ships when we were there. Excellent facilities. We would have enjoyed a higher sofa to see through the windows but apart from that we can’t fault it. We have booked again for next year and can’t wait.

Broken shelves in fridge so bottles can't be placed. No bulb in upstairs bedside lamp, no bulb working over staircase. Only 1 oven baking tray, torn duvet cover, I took picture. The settee is uncomfortable barely any padding needs to be replaced I couldn't sit on it. A small welcome pack would be nice. Crockery and glasses mostly missed matched not inviting. Clean and well presented upon arrival and served our needs very well. The only problem we had was being inundated with flies which entered the property every time we opened the doors. Some general maintenance required, e.g. some of the ceiling downlight bulbs need replacing in the utility room and bathrooms, some of the power points are inactive, and weeds need clearing in the paved area outside. But otherwise very good.

Easy to access from the road. Lovely view over the Harbour and surrounding countryside. Ideal position for exploring this coast of Pembrokeshire. Lots of walks along the coastal paths. Locals seemed very friendly and plenty of places to eat for all the family. We were 2 couples and the accommodation was perfect for our need. We found the cottage extremely warm, but were able to adjust the radiators to our liking. Would recommend this cottage to others who like a quiet retreat, but close to amenities.

It would have been nice to see a little welcome pack, as there was nothing there at all, as I'd forgotten to bring tea bags. I just thought there would be some basic supply's there. Most other cottages I've booked before do supply this. Only one toilet roll as well. It was just as well that I'd packed extra toilet rolls. But the actual cottage is lovely great views and the neighbors ( the cows in the field ) were fun to watch. I would certainly recommend going there to other friends and family.

Despite being on a main road, the cottage is set back & the road is not busy, therefore we didn't hear any traffic during our stay. Views are great and there's lots of countryside to explore, including the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Having the farm next door was great, we got our fresh milk from here, and we were always greeted by the cows in the field next to the cottage. Had a slight problem with the hot water, but after a phone call this was rectified.

Ideally suited for exploring West Wales. Sadly we were let down by Sykes Cottages. The overall description does not explain all that is avaiable for self catering. I contacted Sykes Cottages to ask if there was a DVD player avaiable after they made some enquiries to told me there is not a DVD Player. So i went to the trouble of disconnecting my own and taking it with me only to find one in the Cottage. Sykes Cottages need to pay more attention to detail with their descriptive web pages. (Sadly Sykes let down)

We loved the position on top of the cliff overlooking Fishguard Harbour seeing the ferry coming and going .The cottage was clean comfortable and well equipped you can relax here. We had lovely fresh Morfa milk every day straight from the farm. The cows in the field looked so content. The contact at the cottage was Rhys he was very helpful. We being not so good at walking these days used the car but if you walk you could not have a better place to stay. The Last Invasion Tapestry is a must see at the Fishguard Town Hall Library and the Royal Oak Public House opposite is where the Treaty was signed they still have the table it was signed on. The staff there were very friendly and the food was good. We also visited the Shed for a meal in Porthgain very nice. We would have no hesitation in returning to this lovely place and to recommend to anyone.

The cottage as everything you need to make your stay comfy, with fantastic views, and is pretty central to visiting the many beaches, castles etc. The minor things we’ve mentioned would not stop us staying in this lovely cottage again but I think if some of the things mentioned were done it would improve the stay even more.

.The smell from boiler was less which was good. New entrance door seems more secure, but the door/windows that give the wonderful views across Fishguard harbour and the surrounding seascape need to be more secure and less draughty (north wind blows straight through keyhole - we put a tissue in it). Please don’t skimp on money outlay - the incredible views are the soul of this property. Clever design needed - secure but retain and even enhance existing views (more glass than frames would be absolutely fantastic and would increase the property’s appeal for autumn/winter hols).

However some things are getting a bit jaded, for example some of the double glazing is breaking down, the settee in the lounge/diner is well past its best, the carpet is quite dirty and the DVD player "blue-up" when we first switched on. Some money needs to be spent to brings these things and a few others up to scratch. Flies are an on-going menace. On one day my wife killed 19 before breakfast ! We always bring a fly-swatters, but this does mess up the windows. Of course we are adjacent the owner's working farm with many cows, but don't let the flies put you off. The location of the Cottage is so fantastic with wonderful open sea views.
