  • "The shower leaks and I saw in previous comments this is an ongoing issue and not been dealt with, it would be good to mention that it’s coal only for the fire as I took a boot load of logs to use only to have to take them home again and buy coal."

The cottage could do with a little love but I guess the price reflects the condition. The TV could be bigger but that’s nit picking and it was a smart tv so offered Netflix and prime which was good. A 3 seater sofa would be better than the current 2seater and the fridge is a good size but the property would benefit from a bigger freezer space ( particularly as we went at Christmas and took lots of food with us as we knew we were not near a supermarket) The welcome pack was delightful and most welcome after a long drive, the beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the radio in the bedroom. Secure garden for our small dogs was also very good . We would stay again as we really liked the area and would like to explore more possibly spring time . We didn’t visit the pub but it looked nice , the tea rooms were closed for the duration of our stay so can’t comment on it at all . Parking outside the cottage was fine and overall it was a nice place to stay and relax The heating system is efficient and on a timer but there are instructions to change settings if you need to, we didn’t but it was straightforward.

  • "Ty Canol is a beautiful cottage situated in stunning countryside, a few minutes walk from breathtaking sea views."

The house itself is very cosy, with central heating that quickly warms the place up. The beds were really comfortable, and the coal fire was atmospheric and made it a great place to stay.

  • "The accommodation and equipment are up to satisfactory standard and the welcome pack was lovely thankyou."

Like others a strong smell of damp was evident on first entry to the property however this was not noticeable after being inside for a short while. Given the age of some properties sometimes this is unavoidable, and can be a constant headache. The property is in small village and is ideally positioned for sightseeing, the pub and tearoom in the village are excellent and well worth visiting.

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage."

We had an issue with the bed (!) but a phone call to the caretaker soon resolved it. I think parking could be a problem in the busier times for families as there was only space to park one car directly in front of the cottage. Definitely not space for two cars as advertised. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and the folder with places to visit etc. was incredibly helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit.

  • "Great cottage, clean and with all the necessary essentials throughout (e."

    G. hairdryer) and particularly in the kitchen, including dishwasher. Plenty of info, the cottage booklet saved a lot of hassle in getting to know the locality. Much appreciated welcome gift from local farm shop of milk, bread, jams and bara brith cake. Ideal location, opposite the church in Mathry, having The Farmers Arms pub within 100 yards. Being just of the main A487 between St David's and Fishguard, the local Spar and petrol station is an easy 3 minute drive. Strong and hot shower, does drip onto floor but plenty of cleaning wipes or towels to manage. No sign of reported damp. Inside is generally more spacious than it appears in the photos. Parking in front of cottage on wide road. Could do with paved patio in small rear garden as only has 4 plastic chairs and grassed area. Also no recycling provision and St David's no longer has this

  • "The cottage was lovely, well described and good sized rooms."

The village is small but a great pub and great tea room, highly recommend you visit both of these. The location was very useful, close to most areas and only 2 miles to walk to a beach. What I must suggest to the owner is that they sort out the shower in the bathroom. The door does not close properly and so soaks the bath mat, and extra towels on the floor. This has been going on for a long time as the walls around the shower cubicle are damp and it makes the whole cottage smell damp when you walk in. The doors to the bathroom do not close properly, the inner door being very tight to close and the outer door does not close at all, it catches on the floor tiles and needs sanding to fit or re-hanging. It is however, a roomy and bright bathroom. hope this helps.

  • "Lovely cottage in a very peaceful village close to both Fishguard and St Davids."

Cottage is well equipped and a welcome pack of bread, milk and eggs were there on arrival which was a lovely gesture as there is no shop in the village. Friendly pub serving meals just around the corner and a very helpful information pack detailing beaches, walks and local activities. Abercastle beach just a short drive away was beautiful and dog friendly. Only negative for us was the number of flys in the property attracted by the large bush in the garden which flys and wasps seemed to love. Fly spray was provided but we didn’t find till the last day and then had lots of dead flys to hoover up. Other than that we had a lovely relaxing time and was impressed with the location and property.

  • "Lovely comfy stay at Ty Canol kitchen was one of the best equipped we have had in all the years we have been going to different cottages."

Bed really comfy and good wardrobe space available. It had a very comfortable feeling and was in easy reach of plenty of places to visit. Lovely village and the pub was literally on your doorstep although we didn’t eat there it seemed very popular . I would recommend this cottage to family and friends and would not hesitate to stay there again too.

  • "Very well equiped and nicely decorated making it comfortable and cosy."

Bread, milk, butter and cake made us feel welcome. The smart TV was a great bonus to catch up with our favourite programs. A pub and a tea room in the village make eating choices very agreeable. Less than 2 miles away, as well as the coastal path, are quiet beaches, no need to drive but plenty to explore if you want to. Good shower but could do with a bit of TLC to avoid leaking, an easy bemol to overcome with an extra towel on the floor.

  • "Lack of sitting places outside was a shame, but we were aware of this."

The proximity of an excellent pub (100 yards away) was a great advantage. Thoughtful provision of every need, plus free basket of local produce on arrival, were much appreciated. Plus, although we may have been lucky, it was wonderfully quiet throughout our stay.
