. we have stayed here twice now and I will be rebooking again within the next couple of weeks for next year.. we would highly recommend this lovely holiday home

  • "The cottage was clean and had all our needs for an enjoyable holiday."

The welcome pack was a nice gesture, but unfortunately neither my wife or I are Gin drinkers. The only minor issue is with the step near to the kitchen sink and that whilst it was well identified we were still very conscious of it. No issues occurred!!

  • "First impression when we walked into Belmont House was WOW."

It looks so cosy. The bed was so comfy and the bedding was really excellent quality. Karen messaged me to ask if we would like a Christmas tree put up. We really enjoyed our stay. Karen the owner was really nice and very kind. We would love to return.. Gilwern is a lovely village, really friendly. The Towpath pub next to to the Canal was great. After walking the dogs it was nice to stop off for a beer and hot chocolate. I would recommend to everyone to go Gilwern and stay at Belmont House.

  • "We found Belmont House warm, comfortable and “quirky”."

It is well situated for local walks and sightseeing. The weather was kind and the autumn colours were brilliant. Karen, the property owner, was friendly and helpful. Our only slightly negative comment would be the lack of a small freezer, or even freezer compartment in the fridge, and a need for blackout blinds in the bedroom.

Thanks for the lovely comments. As a result of a couple of people lately asking for a freezer compartment in the fridge I've ordered a new fridge, arriving soon with a freezer compartment!! Also, I have got a blackout blind which I am fitting tomorrow. It's such a help to me when I know from customer feedback what's needed. Thank you! Property Owner

  • "The property was ideal for us to explore the area."

The village itself had lots of walks nearby so you could easily have car free days. Very accessible to other parts of the Beacons too. The house had everything we needed for our stay and was very comfortable. We had a lovely time. I really liked the picture in the living room which had photos of the local landmarks the postcodes for visiting them. The views around the village are great. I have already recommended the area and property to friends and family.

Close to pubs and shop. Didn’t rate the fish & chip shop. But the pub grub was fab. Cottage very close to the road so can be very noisy at night if window open. But the cottage is excellent and so is the host.

  • "It is a lovely apartment ."

The owner is really nice and we enjoyed our stay. It was spotlessly clean, comfy bed , good information about the apartment was supplied and a brilliant welcome pack was there to greet us after a long journey. The little patio was a suntrap. We didn’t make it to the parking space, but the car park is less than 5 minutes away. The location was so close to walks along the canal watching the boats and seeing the wild flowers . People were really friendly and I enjoyed a visit to Abergavenny market on the Tuesday and Emmelines was wonderful for a cafe . Sykes should have put that it was unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues as there were steps . Washing up at the sink with legs on different levels was interesting! A handle would have been good by the bath to get in and out of the shower. It would be perfect for people without mobility issues and the apartment will be very popular as a base for exploring a beautiful area. We would have loved to return.

  • "We have just returned from a week in June at this gem of a cottage in Gilwern."

It is a little quirky but beautiful and comfortable. We have a Vauxhall Astra and had no problem driving through the entrance to the back of the cottage to park privately off road. The cottage contained everything we needed, it was very clean, warm, a very comfortable bed, lovely garden area to sit and perfectly situated for the canal. Our little Schnauzer passed away before we visited but it would have been perfect had she been with us as very dog friendly. The pub (Beaufort) has great food and friendly service but popular so we needed to book a table. The welcome pack was the best we've ever had. Karen the owner couldn't have been more helpful and went out of her way to make this cottage welcoming without being intrusive. We certainly recommend this cottage and will no doubt return again one day.

  • "It was a lovely place to stay and there are some lovely walks around Gilwern."

The flat had a lot of space and it is well equipped. There is a lovely sitting area out the back where we sat in the morning to have our breakfast and in the evening chilling out. Also there was a welcoming gift waiting for us which meant we could have a cuppa once we arrived. There is a general store just across the road which we found very helpful. vert friendly owner who likes dogs so you can take the hound with you, ours settled in very quickly.
