  • "Another fantastic stay at one of New House Farms 3 cottages (previously stayed in the Old Stable)."

The cottage is beautifully detailed with everything you need. They are well heated and there is an additional log burner. The owners provided lovely little details like milk, tea and coffee to get you started, oh and Welsh cakes :-) A bit plus for us was the pet friendly aspect and the cottage has small secure forecourts and an exercise field. We also had use of the laundry and there is a hose to wash the dogs down after the beautiful beach walks were had. Fantastic place, thank you Cheryl and family for looking after us.

Thank you both for the lovely review, we are so pleased that you and the dogs enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

The cottage was very clean and had everything we could need. We really appreciated the lovely gestures of milk, Welsh cakes and hot chocolate along with a bag of treats for our dog! I really thought this was a lovely touch. It is beautifully presented and just so cosy. I would absolutely stay again and recommend to any of my friends. I’d also just like to mention - I’ve read in other reviews people saying about the lack of space for dogs outside which I thought was very unnecessary as the website clearly states about keeping dogs on leads and it’s all part of the parcel of having a dog taking them out for toileting so we didn’t see an issue with this.

It has everything you need, very comfortable beds, great shower and lovely relaxing living area. The garden is a huge area in 2 separate parts, one has picnic tables and the other washing lines and goalposts (which don't interfere with each other!). The weather was amazing when we were there and the outdoor space was really welcome. Cheryl and Paul are perfect hosts, anything we needed they responded quickly but you can be as private as you like. There is an outdoor tap in the courtyard which was great for rinsing wetsuits and a shared laundry which also has lots of books, games and dvd's to borrow. The area is quiet country lanes and farmers fields with barely a car in sight. Newgale beach is about 20 minutes away. Thank you Cheryl and Paul, we had a great stay and would love to return!

  • "We thought the cottage was nice it was set in a beautiful courtyard and surrounded by lovely countryside."

There we're fresh flowers Welsh cakes and treats for the dog which I thought was a nice touch. However the cottage was run down the lounge mat was filthy and the hot water for the bath was hit and miss. For us with a dog it didn't work, there is absolutely know where you can have your dog of a lead, and I know it states this when you book, but I didn't realise that there was no enclosed space for a dog, so if your dog needs a pee you have to stick your wellies on over your pyjamas and physically go out in all weather's with a torch and try and find your way round a field, not my idea of fun, but I have to say that I should have read through everything before booking. This is just a suggestion, we felt that a grab rail would help considerably for anyone getting in and out of the bath.

Thank you for the kind words about our home and grounds and that you were happy with the welcome pack but we are disappointed that you had some issues, our aim is to provide our guests with a relaxing break, especially after the last couple of years we've all had and we work extremely hard to make it happen. I should like to respond to your comments point by point. We totally disagree with your comment of the cottage being "run down", our cottages are maintained and cleaned to a high standard. The rug, along with everything else in the cottage, is steamed and or washed between each booking in line with the Covid rules and was definitely not "filthy". If you had told us you had problems with the hot water we would have called in the plumber (which we have done), the boiler is a combi and is meant to provide hot water on demand and is on 24 hrs a day, no-one else has raised this as an issue. With regard to the lack of enclosed space for dogs, this is clearly stated and you would have been informed of this prior to your arrival. Thank you for the suggestion of a grab rail, this is the first time it has been mentioned but we will definitely consider it. Once again we're disappointed that you didn't enjoy your holiday here. • "The cottage is described as "dog friendly" but there are no enclosed spaces to let the dogs off of the lead and no nearby walks where dogs can run free either."

Also, as several cottages all face onto the same courtyard, the dogs are continuously barking at outside activity. We cut our holiday short and came home.

We're so sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay here as our aim is to provide guests with a relaxing holiday. It does state in the information that *dogs must be kept on leads* this is due to the proximity of farm animals and the comfort of other guests, it also states that there are other cottages surrounding the courtyard. Unfortunately it is not possible to provide a safe enclosed area for your 4 dogs to off lead play here as we're in the middle of a working farm, we don't charge for pets partly because of this, once again we're really sorry you were disappointed Property Owner

Cheryl was brilliant, advising on interesting places to visit. The cottage was amazing, The Woodburner made the cottage very cosy. I could not fault this place. watching the birds on the feeder early morning - astounded to see a woodpecker every morning amongst the other visiting birds. Cheryl and her husband were amazing and friendly without being overbearing. Fraggle - the Deerhound such a beautiful animal and so placid. The welcome back was greatly received after a sever hour drive. Teddy, Ava and Peggy also enjoyed their treats. Although, the weather was cold and sometimes raining, we still managed to walk 8 to 12 miles a day. Duck cottage is lovely homely and welcoming place to stay. I will most definitely be visiting again. Ps Teddy is fine - needs a special diet. Lost a lot of weight due to infection.

Thank you so much Lisa for your kind words and that you enjoyed your stay here with us, it was a shame about the weather but at least you managed to see some of beautiful Pembrokeshire. I am so pleased that Teddy is fine, I was quite worried and such a shame you had to cut your visit short but the dogs have to come first don't they. The cottage opposite looks directly into this one, so again, not much in the way of privacy.. A couple of tweaks, and it could’ve been perfect. Nice enough tho..

Owner's Response: "We are very sorry that you felt the view was spoiled by the tyres, unfortunately we don't own the land behind the cottage, it is owned by the farmer and the tyres are for covering the silage for the animals. We've had a chat to the farmer and he has agreed to relocate them which is very nice of him and he is happy for us to make the area tidier for our guests. We try to make it clear that the cottages are in a complex around a courtyard in the description and that there is limited space directly outside, to help this we have planted various climbing plants and shrubs to give some privacy without crowding the patio areas but in Autumn they do get pruned back ready for the next year. Once again we're sorry that you were disappointed." Many thanks Cheryl Howard Property Owner

Co.uk) The cottage was much more attractive than the photo suggests, being set in a courtyard (with other cottages) with views down the valley to the rear and across the courtyard to a field at the front. We particularly appreciated our welcome, the starter pack of coffee/tea/sugar etc and the vase of tulips which lasted all week! We were also pleasantly surprised that all heating was included in the price. The twin bedroom and lounge were of a good size; the double bedroom smaller but perfectly adequate and all were attractively decorated. There was reasonable storage space for holiday use and the washing facilities next door would be particularly useful for a family. The kitchen and bathroom were modern and well-appointed. There was a little table for sitting out immediately outside the front door, and family tables/benches in the field nearby. It is a little off the beaten track, although we soon got used to that. Otherwise it was well-situated for exploring Pembrokeshire being close to the A40 and the A487. Parking was a little tight - especially since we all appeared to have large cars! Wifi is currently being installed but we received a 4G signal which was fine in the meantime. We were two elderly relatives and the weather was excellent: a family in a week of bad weather might find it a little more restrictive. However, we had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to go back or to recommend it.
