"The accommodation was very clean and we had everything we needed."
Very well equipped. The tap in the kitchen was dripping slightly so may need looking at. Only minor. The only thing we feel may improve the property is to have a kingsize bed instead of a double. The one there was quite squeaky when moving around. It's a great property and well located in Solva with sea views. We met the owners who were really lovely. Thanks for a great stay.

"We absolutely loved staying here, it's location for visiting Solva and access to the coastal path is fantastic."
We had such a good time visiting the area. The house was warm, comfortable well equipped. The garden, even though it's not joined on wasn't an issue at all and was well used by our dogs. The only things that are worth noting are the lack of garden furniture, the bench is great but really hard to sit on, and the kitchen cupboards are too full of stuff that's really not needed, we counted 7 chopping boards, and it meant we had nowhere to store any food that didn't require a fridge. Also the coffee maker needed descaling and we couldn't use but it wasn't an issue. Very minor things and we had such a good time, local pubs and cafes were brilliant and the walk to St David's and newgale were stunning. Your house was a great place to stay.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback – we’re really glad you enjoyed your stay and made the most of the location, walks, and local cafés and pubs. Great to hear the garden worked well for your dogs too.
We appreciate your notes on the kitchen, coffee maker and the garden bench – all useful feedback for us.
We’re so pleased you had such a good time overall and hope to welcome you back again.

"This is a superb place to stay with stunning views from the lovely garden The house is beautiful and spacious (please ignore any previous reviews about it having low ceilings- we have some tall members in our family and everyone was fine)."
The house is fully equipped, spotlessly clean with wonderful views from the windows. Solva itself is a perfect location with easy access to coastal walks, We have all had an amazing stay at this beautiful place- thank you so much!
So pleased you had such a great stay and enjoyed the house and views! Thanks for your kind words – you’re welcome back to Carreg Ddu anytime.

"It should be made clearer that for an adult (I am 177cm tall) it is almost impossible to stand upright on the upper floor."
The "double"-bed is very small: ca. 1.8m x 1.4m.
We were told by the owner's mother that this is normal in GB, but for continental people it is a negative surprise.
Thanks for your feedback. The cottage is a traditional Welsh property, so the upstairs ceilings are a little lower than in modern homes, which adds to its character but may not suit everyone. The bed is a standard UK double (135cm x 190cm), which can feel smaller compared to continental sizes. We’ll make sure this is clearer in our listing so future guests know what to expect.

"This property is excellent, well furnished, maintained to a high degree."
It is equipped with everything possible. Not sure if someone very tall would survive the low ceiling in the bedroom and bathroom, I'm only 5'5" and I hit my head on several occasions but maybe I'm just a slow learner. In any event we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and compliments must go to the owner and staff who make this cottage so attractive.
Many thanks for a great holiday.

"We agree with all the previous good remarks about Careg Ddu."
It is ideally situated for visiting places along the coast as far as Newport. We also liked Tenby and Narbeth. Most mornings we enjoyed a long walk on Newgale beach with our dog before exploring favourite areas.
We intend to return to Carreg Ddu because it is in a quiet location with a large garden up a few steps with excellent views. The neighbours are very friendly.
Mike and Helen and spaniel Cassie.
Thank you Mike, Helen (and Cassie!) for your lovely review – we’re so pleased you enjoyed your time at Carreg Ddu. It’s wonderful to hear you’re planning to return, and we’d be delighted to welcome you all back whenever you’re next in Pembrokeshire.

"Lovely cottage with all the equipment you could need."
It was plenty spacious for 2 people but you would really struggle with any more as the bathroom is only accessible through the study. The enclosed garden was great for the dogs once you were in it, but should be made clearer on the details that the dogs need to be on a lead and walked to the garden as it’s down a little alley way so you couldn’t just let them out of the door as we expected. Over all, we had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay.
Thanks for your feedback – we’re really pleased you had a lovely stay and that the garden worked well once you were in it. We’ve now updated the listing to make the garden access clearer for future guests. Delighted you enjoyed your time at Carreg Ddu!

"This is a lovely little holiday cottage just a ten minute walk from the harbour, restaurants and cafés."
There is a village shop just a five minute walk from the property. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The shower is powerful. The kitchen is equipped with almost every gadget you could wish for, even a rolling pin, pie tin, avocado slicer, meat thermometer and knife sharpener. However, we couldn't find a tin-opener!
The cottage is dog-friendly which was great and there is a private, enclosed garden for them with lovely views. The only downside and the reason for 4 stars not 5 is that you can only access the garden via the shared parking area and not directly from the house itself. The welcome pack at the property also states that dogs are not allowed upstairs or on the soft furnishings (not mentioned in the listing on Sykes). This wasn't a big deal as we had brought the dogs' crates with us but would have been difficult to manage if we didn't have a place to secure them away during the night.
The Welsh cakes and pint of milk on arrival were much appreciated.
Thank you for your thoughtful review – we’re so pleased you found Carreg Ddu comfortable and well equipped (though we’ll make sure there’s a tin-opener in place next time!). We’ve updated the listing to make garden access and dog guidance clearer, and really appreciate your comments. Glad you enjoyed the Welsh cakes, and we’d love to welcome you back.

"As already discussed with the owner who has taken our comments on board, our only disappointment was that the lovely enclosed garden could only be accessed from the shared parking area at the side of the house which meant we couldn't just let our dog out or really leave him to play outside - he loves lying on cold slabs or grass in the cold weather given his thick fur coat!"
Thanks for your feedback – we’re glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate you sharing your thoughts about the garden access. We’ve taken this on board and updated the listing so it’s clear for future guests.

"Nice Cottage in a pleasant position which was well appointed, clean and tidy."
Enclosed rear garden with great views was a bonus with the dogs. Good to have an entrance utility room for incoming dogs. At 6'4" I struggled a bit with roof height upstairs but comfy bed and good shower.
Thanks so much for your kind review – we’re delighted you and the dogs enjoyed the garden and found the cottage comfortable. We’d be very happy to welcome you back to Carreg Ddu anytime.
