  • "Gwelfor is a beautiful property and we had a lovely stay."

We really enjoyed the “upside down” living which made the most of the wonderful views.

  • "A beautiful property with wonderful open upstairs space."

Great for our family holiday with its position near lots of fabulous beaches. It would be nice to have an option of a welcome food pack, especially given late check in time as for fairly young children it’s unpack-dinner-bed that evening and difficult to fit shopping into our small car along with the holiday bags and buckets and spades. Too far to get out to supermarkets and back on arrival evening after unpacking the car, and village shop now shut down. An optional paid-for hamper would have made a big difference. Other suggestions include more mixing/serving bowls for the kitchen and at least a starter amount of kitchen roll (nothing to use as napkins etc). We found downstairs difficult to get air circulation going to enable clothes and towel drying. Found it felt a bit damp overall down there even in mid-August. The shower in main bathroom is not great (too narrow water flow) and the toilets in both give an alarming feeling that they are about to fall off the wall when you sit on them. Good storage in the bedrooms and lovely to have a proper utility room. It would be helpful to have the web/email info updated to be currently accurate - eg i read somewhere there would be no washing up liquid or other things which were in fact (very helpfully) provided. Overall we had a wonderful week, just providing a few points while I remember!

Would be 5 stars if given a deep clean

  • "A lovely place to stay."

Had everything we needed for a family holiday. Very well equipped - dishwasher, washing machine etc. Marloes quiet but had a good shop and local pub. We also discovered a brilliant pizza place very close. Set in a beautiful area. Lots of walks. The coast was stunning, especially at Marloes Sands. Our grandson loved crabbing at Dale. We could also hire a kayak there too. Great seafood pub - The Griffin at Dale.

  • "Please see my email and photos of the house which needs cleaned ."

Filthy washing machine, filthy tumble dryer both should be condemned. Dirty floors, broken blinds, broken garage door, broken ice maker, unconnected TV. Stained quilts, garage strewn with debris and discarded wet suits, shoes and boots, filthy recycling boxes in the garage and kitchen. Oven door filthy, stainless steel fridge door smeared, cooker hood dripping grease. Stained sinks in kitchen and utility. Huge disappointment especially as caretaker explained how long they had cleaned after the previous guests who had left the place in a mess. The cleanliness was not recent / tge dirt had been building for weeks

  • "This is our second stay at this cottage."

We stayed back in 2016. We loved the cottage hence why we returned this year. But we have to say when compared to last time the cleanliness of the property is not very good , with stains on the floor and furniture etc.

  • "Great house, especially the living space."

One minor drawback being the raised power point covers in the floor, which are a trip hazard. (We moved furniture so that they were out of the way.) We liked the big cooking pots too, and the caretaker was very helpful.

  • "Beautiful house in superb location, at the edge of the village with the beach and coastal path within walking distance."

Lovely sunny rooms, but also cosy when the weather turned stormy.

As well as taking into account the Covid restrictions we had a wonderful time at Gwelfor as usual!

The detached property enjoys upside down living and is furnished and fitted to a high standard throughout. There is a panoramic view over the fields of the dramatic coastline towards St Davids, Solva and Newgale.

The Lobster Pot pub, The Clock House café and village store should serve most holiday needs.

Marloes Beach is just a 3/4 mile walk away and is much favoured by photographers and walkers.

You can catch the coastal bus just outside the house or take a trip on the Dale Princess to Skomer Island to see the Puffins and Shearwaters.

Dale, Little Haven, Broad Haven and St Anne’s Head are all worth exploring.

About the location

MARLOES

Milford Haven 9 miles; St. Brides 3.4 miles; Haverfordwest 13 miles.

Marloes is a small village on the Marloes Peninsula in Pembrokeshire, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The village has a pub, The Lobster Pot, a small café and a village shop. The spectacular beaches and rocky coves around Marloes are well-known for many historic shipwrecks, caused by the treacherous seas surrounding Skokholm Island, just off the coast. Marloes Sands, a National Trust beach with spectacular geology is certainly worth a visit, as is Skomer Island, where you can take a boat trip to view its 6,000 pair of puffins and 120,000 pairs of Manx Shearwaters.
