  • "Great stay in a beautiful house with incredible gardens."

Walking distance to town and great location for exploring the local beaches. It had everything you could possibly want, esp in the kitchen. The welcome gifts were very appreciated. It was let down slightly by the uncleanliness and I felt that the double rooms were big enough to have at least one en-suite, which would have helped our group of 6. But these were minor things, that would not put us off staying again

  • "Great sheltered position with extensive gardens."

Central for many interesting excursions; Bosherston Lakes, Tenby and St. Davids are well worth visiting. If you are going to Saundersfoot, park at Wisemans Bridge and walk through the tunnels; it's a nice walk and free parking. On arrival we tried the key safe by the French Doors which was empty! A quick 'phone call and the problem was solved; the keys were in the key safe by the back door next to the garage. Note that the lock on the back door sticks from time to time.

  • "We had a brilliant stay at Longsdon, there is plenty of room to spread out, and it was perfect for our dog who loved the huge enclosed garden, as did we."

The welcome pack of Welsh butter, bread, Welsh cakes, Welsh caramel waffles, and six fresh eggs was a lovely touch. But...sadly, yes, there are actually several "buts". 1: The stairs are rather tricky especially going down, being rather slippery due to being wooden - if you have mobility problems, this wonderful house is probably not for you. In fact the floors generally are slippery (no carpets, just the beautiful wood flooring,) 2: The house is best described as "quirky", a bit like a trip back to the 1920s - despite the house having been built in the 1960s. It took us ages to work out where everything was - we didn't find the freezer and washing machine until day 4, and didn't find the washing up bowl until the day before we left. (I suppose we were intended to have used the dishwasher, but we aren't used to such "modern" luxuries.) We didn't discover the downstairs toilet until the end of the day after we arrived! 3: The door locks could be tricky, and we had to call out the caretaker on day 3 to get us in because we couldn't get the key for the mortise lock to turn. After that we took all the keys with us when we went out! 4: Most of the beds were comfortable, but the cleanliness of the bedrooms could have been better. The bedclothes in the single rooms were stained and didn't appear to be fresh. In addition, I found a discarded sock left down the side of my bed! On the other hand the house was warm and cosy, and overall we had a great time there despite a few aggravations. Will we go back? Probably not, purely because of the stairs...

  • "We loved the house, location (easy for travelling around) the garden was lovely but we all thought the house needed a bit of TLC."

ie drain pipes needed painting, windows needed cleaning, there was black mould around the freezer door the hook to keep the patio doors open comes away from the wall. Having said the above we have all had a lovely and peaceful holiday away from city life. Thank you.

  • "On arrival at the property, we were horrified and disgusted to find that the toilet brush [in the upstairs toilet] was absolutely filthy – being plastered with excrement."

The interior of the wall-cupboards [in the kitchen] was dusty as were the shelves in the pantry – to the extent that we felt the need to wash crockery before use in order to remove the dust and even some dead moths. The knobs on the kitchen wall-cupboards were so high, that I was unable to open any of these cupboards. I am 5 feet 4 inches tall and could only reach the very first shelf in the wall-cupboards and could only reach the lowest shelves in the pantry. My husband is 6 feet tall and he could not reach the top shelves. A set of small safety steps would have been advantageous. The back and front doors of the property close and lock automatically so we would advise guests to always ensure they have a door key when venturing out into the grounds – we were nearly caught out by this issue. The wooden flooring in the lounge has obviously suffered from attack by wood worm. Some small sections of the wood have been removed [or have crumbled away] leaving spaces that are potential trip hazards especially if wearing heeled shoes, and could potentially cut someone’s feet if walking bare-foot in that room. The carpet in the smaller of the double bedrooms was not secured by the carpet rail and easily slid whenever anyone placed a foot on that section – a definite slip hazard. The coat hook on the back of the bathroom door was nearly hanging off with the screws pulling out of the hardboard. Initially we thought there was no freezer but it was found at the back door entrance. The door had a bolt and padlock in place and at first glance appeared to be locked and of limits to guests. On closer inspection, we found the door was not padlocked and would open but the freezer door was found ajar and had almost defrosted. The property manual for appliances is not current. We were unable to find adequate information relating to the segregation of household waste and the time of waste collection. We are glad that it was just the two of us staying at the property because if we had been a party of 6 adults then the bathroom facilities would have been problematical as would the size of the dishwasher. The dining room table would have been cramped for six people as well as the main lounge which only had two sofas. On a positive note, the welcome pack of milk etc thoughtfully put together and was greatly appreciated. We both enjoyed staying in the Haverfordwest area but would not choose to stay in Lonsdale again.

  • "What a beautiful house!"

It oozes history and character, and the grounds are lovely. The beds are comfortable, and once we had turned on the heaters it became warm and cosy quite quickly. The kitchen is well stocked with pans and trays for cooking, and there is plenty of cutlery and crockery (not just one place setting per person). Plenty of lovely fluffy towels provided, and extra blankets in the cupboards. My only complaint would be that there isn't a washer/dryer as stated - just a washing machine. Not a big deal as there is a line if the weather is good and a clothes horse if not so we managed fine. There is lots of space, the water was nice and hot all week, and it's wonderfully quiet. We were also left some milk, eggs and butter and there was a small stock of coffee and sugar as well as cooking basics like oil and seasonings in the pantry. The house was lovely and clean too! I also met the owner briefly on the last day (if you're reading - the door key wasn't an issue, I'd forgotten about the top latch!) who was very friendly and stopped by to see how we were getting on :-)

  • "Longston is a large house - plenty of room for our party of 4 and a dog."

The garden is huge and once the main gate is closed, safe for canines and children to enjoy. Our visit was in February and we had good weather, so the garden was a lovely addition. It’s a shame the table outside had no glass top as we would have liked to sit outside to eat. There were only two plastic garden chairs that we could find. The house is heated by the aga and electric radiators. Upstairs was warmer than downstairs, but the large log burner kept the lounge nice a cosy once lit. The bathroom is modern with a separate toilet. The bath is large but the shower pressure is a bit low. Could do with one of those shower heads that help to increase pressure. The beds were very comfortable. The house overall had a lovely feel to it, with traditional creaky wooden floorboards and wood panelling in the hallway added to the atmosphere. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and the larder was great for storing food and supplies. We had to phone the caretaker as we couldn’t find the washing machine - he was really helpful and explained there was a laundry room which we had missed (the house is big). The location was perfect - on the edge of town with all conveniences with countryside walks right on the doorstep. Lots of lovely beaches within a short drive. St David’s is well worth a visit and the beach at Newgale is stunning. Overall we had a lovely stay and enjoyed the house very much. We will definitely stay again if we visit the area in the summer.

The house was lovely and warm (we have never used an AGA before)and the bed was also very comfortable and warm. Water was red hot although the pressure was a little slow. The grounds are beautiful and will be lovely in the summer and are great for pets. It was a perfect base for us visiting family and was close to the town, Broadhaven, Dale and Hook. All places we needed to go to.

. we enjoyed our stay.. it was right up our street as the saying goes.. one thing I will say is check the bath mat in bath when we lifted it out there was excrement under it, so guessing a family with small children stayed.. we just cleaned it up so not worries.. thank you again.

  • "The large garden is perfect for a large dog."

Well stocked kitchen with plenty of crockery etc. Comfortable lounge and beds. A good location to lots of amenities. On the down side the windows could do with a good clean. Seemed to be a constant mist outside when looking out. Some updating could be recommended ie both toilets. Wouldn't recommend going in cold weather only small electric heating in each room, woodburner in lounge probably OK. Otherwise we had a nice time there.

Pleased you had a nice stay in Longsdon. Sorry about the windows, but as I explained, they are the original leaded lined windows and almost impossible to clean efficiently. The heaters are nearly all new and extremely efficient making the house very warm in winter. The Aga will also be relit warming the core of the house. Property Owner

  • "Longsdon is a charming time capsule."

It has the most beautiful original features, and the furniture and floorings are in keeping with the house. If you are looking for laminate flooring and IKEA cabinets then you will find this not to your taste. We found Longsdon absolutely wonderful. The whole house is so spacious, the garden is a delight with so much space even our German Shepherd Dog had ample enough room to really run around. Sitting outside in the morning with a coffee is the perfect start to the day. Sitting outside in the evening as it grows darker is the perfect ending. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful coastline. So many beaches and coves withing 20 minutes drive. Lovely walks through the countryside. A short walk into town. We had a problem with the Aga while we were there, but it was rectified immediately, and we found the owner and caretaker very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going back to Longsdon. We had a wonderful week there. We fell in love with the house and gardens.

Stunning coastlines. First impressions of the property was of being in need of some TLC, and internal updating; however. Loads of space inside, complete with a snug if you need to get away. The Aga takes a bit of getting used to, (there is a really useful recipe book), but provides lots of hot water for the wonderfully big bath and warmth in the kitchen. Everywhere inside is clean, the sofas and beds are really comfortable. Loads of logs for the wood burner in the lounge; very cosy on a damp Autumn evening. The garden is a great size and enclosed. You are not overlooked. Really good value for money. Left there destressed and refreshed. Recommend a trip to Tenby in the sunshine. Would we come back. Yes.
