“Old fashioned cottage in the middle of rolling hills and fields full of sheep and cattle.”

Beautiful garden and homemade Welsh cakes on arrival. Close enough for a visit to Cardiff and other local attractions. Complete relaxation, apart from worrying a little about the antique furniture and single glazed windows with a 5 year old monkey lol

The property

Usk 1.5 miles.

If you are looking to holiday in the heart of farmland then this superb location is one of the best.

Driving through the delightful town of Usk, alongside the river to Llanbadoc, you can spot the house way up on the hill overlooking the sheep and cattle and you’ll be eager to head on up and start your holiday.

Set in farmland, any children with you will probably want to stay outside, to see the animals and venture back down the track to explore.

The magic of this holiday home continues indoors as parts of it will almost be like stepping back in time but with all the modern facilities.

The rear door leads into a room where any boots, coats and even bikes can be stored and is home to the magnificent biomass heating system run on wood pellets.

Along a short, flagged passage is a traditional, high-cistern toilet, followed by a well-equipped kitchen on one side and round the corner is where you’ll find the walk-in pantry and the utility room.

At the front of the house you’ll find the dining room and the sitting room where the views will astound you.

Heading upstairs, past the exquisite bathroom on the half landing, the views are even better from the two larger bedrooms.

All the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and lovely places to sit, relax, enjoy a morning cup of tea and take in the views and sounds of the countryside.

At such an unusual location, you may well be tempted to avoid straying far but a trip into Usk makes a nice day trip.

With so many ancient castles all around and pretty walks or cycle rides by the river, it’s well worth venturing out to discover this wonderful area.

Feeling part of the countryside at this charming holiday cottage will stay with you long after you leave and may well beckon you back soon to this beautiful county.
