  • "We were only able to stay for a couple of nights on our most recent visit, but it was great to be back at the Garden Cottage again."

It's an ideal place to get away for a break, and use as a base for exploring the area. The ever-helpful owners were as welcoming as always - thanks again!

  • "The cottage was even better than the pictures, it was warm and cosy and plenty of room."

The gas cooker took a while to fathom but after Mary showed us what to do it was fine. It is the most beautiful location, away from all road noise and surrounded by fields where horses and cows graze peacefully but it isn't very far by car to collect the paper and essentials. Will certainly return.

The house is cosy, warm and beautifully decorated in keeping with a cottage of its type. The beds were comfortable, towels lovely and fluffy and even flowers and wine on arrival. I can't think of anything I would change about the cottage at all, except the weather which was appalling! The cottage made the terrible weather so much more bearable and we enjoyed coming back to somewhere so lovely each evening. Thank you to you both xx

  • "An honest review of our stay The Good The cottage setting was lovely quiet and peaceful with beautiful views plenty of room for the dogs and garden was escape proof lovely walks around the estate The owners were very pleasant and knowledgeable WiFi very good and excellent shower Fresh flowers wine and chocolates also a pint of milk left a nice touch The Not So Good Lack of storage in both bedrooms only 3 small drawers that smelled musty in whole property to store clothes we lived out of our suitcases the entire time ."

No storage cupboard in the kitchen for the food we took with us, as you do for self catering it had to be left out on work top that’s ok except our nightly visitors were slugs and there were snail trails everywhere in the morning where they had crawled !! Something left for us to clean the surfaces would have been good We felt we had to wash all kitchen equipment before using because of the musty smell and slugs may have been crawling on them The carpets had an awful musty smell which generally prevails in bedroom and kitchen as well . windows (with cobwebs on inside) had to be left wide open to let fresh air in which in turn let all the flies in I know it’s the country so maybe some fly papers or spray left to try and alleviate the problem as it must be an ongoing problem Only one towel each which were so hard you could of exfoliated with them no hand towels Very steep stairs wooden stairs with no grips or carpet on them which could be a problem for the less mobile Unbearably hot and uncomfortable in the loft sitting area so we didn’t use it this is where the only tv is located perhaps air con unit or fan could be provided We spent very little time inside the cottage other than in the evening and to sleep but the musty smell that prevailed in the cottage was beginning to affect asthma making us feel unwell with constant coughing this meant we were getting very little sleep After 5 days we decided to call it a day and return home sadly not the holiday we had hoped for !! We emailed the owner of our concerns and have spoken to Sykes

We were extremely disappointed to read your comments. We assure you that if you had raised these with us at the time, we would have gone to every length possible to immediately rectify the points you have made. We also recognise that the weather was very exceptionally hot during your stay. " Property Owner

Mary and Edwin were delightful so welcoming and a treat inside the cottage for us and a lovely touch a vase of wild flowers on the table. The garden was beautiful dogs loved the large area to roam. Horses in the field next to the Cottage a pleasure to watch. It just amazing I always look for lovely quiet locations when booking holidays and this time my choice surpassed all my expectations. The cottage was very much a home from home. We had a warm welcome from the hosts who were extremely helpful. This was intended as a peaceful weekend away from it all. So we were pleased to discover the absolute quiet of the Welsh countryside here. With places of interest to visit still very close by. Pembrey country Park is especially worth a visit around sunset. We got some beautiful photos! The cottage is snug but there was only 2 of us and a dog. The bed was comfortable, and the shower, powerful. The dinner set was lovely! And everything is in keeping with the cottage. I felt like I’d stepped back in time a bit on entry, which is no bad thing if you need some escapism. The owners are very helpful I will definitely book again
