  • "The pictures for Wagtail Cottage don’t really do it justice, we were absolutely blown away when we arrived."

Welcomed with fresh milk and biscuits, the cottage is clean and has everything you need to stay whether you are a family with children or all adults. We stayed in the summer and enjoyed the fact that it is a short drive into Pembroke Town and about a 15 minute drive to Freshwater West and Stackpole Quay (national trust) that is a short walk to Barafundle Beach. Only 30 mins drive to Tenby. Our first time visiting Wales and we fell in love with it. Wish we’d booked 2 weeks so we could have visited everything in the area. Would recommend visiting Narberth town centre too as it’s got a market and some lovely shops with hidden tapas bars! All in all we would highly recommend Wagtail Cottage. Having our own drive for the car, the Amazon stick and dvd player (with lots of quite up to date dvds included) for those cosy movie nights in and a well equipped kitchen for cooking dinners every night really added the homely touches for us as a family of 4.

Thank you for this lovely review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Wagtail. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a peaceful location."

There were a few cobwebs about that had been missed, and perhaps there could be an option for non-feathered pillows for people with Allergies, but overall a comfy place to stay whilst exploring the area. The handy book could do with an update.

Unfortunately if I don’t get the tiny spider, it makes a new cobweb. They are busy little fellows! There is a mixture of pillows to choose from, could easily swap them around. Property Owner

Fantastic cottage, but a little remote for a beach holiday, once your back at the cottage , was hard to travel anywhere for evening meal, also local pub was never open ,

Our location is surrounded by some of the finest beaches in Pembrokeshire! All 10 minutes drive, Fresh Water west, Broad Haven, Barafundle, west Angle etc Mostly the beaches need to be driven to as there are generally few properties near them. The nearest pub will hopefully reopen soon, although Stackpole Inn and St Govans Inn are again just ten minutes drive. Pembroke town has plenty of choice, just a ten minute drive. Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely stay in your cottage."

Everything was excellent but the kitchen tap needs some work. Pictures of the outside do not do the cottage justice, would highly recommend.

The kitchen tap is fed by an under sink electric heater, delivering 5 litres each cycle. It soon heats up again. Not as good as a gas combi boiler, but there is no gas here. Its good enough for the occasional use that it gets. Property Owner

  • "Great location and very peaceful."

Had a lovely time there. Great base for exploring Pembrokeshire. We visited, Tenby, Stackpole, St Davids, Fishguard & Pembroke Castle, plus several excellent beaches. Nothing was more than 1 hour away so this was perfect for us. The cottage was well equipped with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. One the whole it was clean, but did see a few cobwebs in a few places. Did have issues with the hot tap in the kitchen with not much hot water coming from it. Ended up taking washing bowl to bathroom to get hot water for dishes, but this did not detract from an enjoyable stay. The double bed was not overly comfortable, we are used to a firmer mattress & king size bed, but of course everyone has different preferences. I think the useful info folder could do with tidying up. Lots of changes, crossing out and hand written notes inside. Excellent stay and would recommend the cottage. Would certainly think about going back if we visited the area again.

We are pleased that you had an excellent stay at Wagtail and would happily return. The kitchen sink is fed by an under sink heater that produces 5 litres of water instantly and quickly reheats. It is enough for doing the dishes. The double bed is normal sized and fits the dimensions of the room. It has on occasion been too firm! We installed a mattress topper to make it softer, but as you say its all a matter of preference. The info folder does in deed need a makeover. You did well to find a cobweb, I make a point of hoovering them every weekend. Property Owner

  • "Nice helpful friendly family."

Cosy cottage in a lovely location. Maybe could benefit from a external rotary airer or washing line. Ideal location to explore the south Pembrokeshire cost line. Can't wait to return.

We are pleased that you had a great holiday at Wagtail. There are two free standing airers that can be placed either inside or out in the garden. A rotary would surely ruin the look of the pretty garden. Its a holiday let, not a permanent residence! Property Owner

It was really a home from home! The only point of criticism for us: only 4 towels were provided for two adults in a two week stay. Nevertheless we have had a great holiday and would love to come back!

We are pleased that you had a great holiday. We are just next door and a request for more towels would be easily met. Property Owner

Then when I came to look up how to get there I realised we were coming to Pembroke. What a great mistake that was. Wagtail Cottage is lovely. Cosy and comfortable I'd describe it. In the winter you can even light the log burner, although we were too busy out and about to do that. The duvets were so warm I made a note of the label and am going to try to get myself one. We thought we were going to have rain all week but we only got one bad soaking. We walked for miles and miles along the coast line and visited Pembroke Castle and St Davids Cathedral. Now I need to rest my aching OAP legs. A great place.

It was wonderful. We really couldn't have asked for more. The cottage was spotlessly clean and so warm and cosy. The owners go above and beyond with some lovely extras. All our plans to go for walks etc. never happened as we were just content to stay holed up in this gorgeous cottage. • "We stayed in Wagtail Cottage for a week with our 5 year old son."

The cottage was ideal for a family of 3 or 4. We did have a couple of issues, the most important being the velux window in the twin bedroom. This has a bedside table directly beneath it and I found our son stood on the bedside table with one leg out of the velux window, about to climb on the roof!! Although the owners have thought about younger guests with children's cutlery, bucket and spade and a selection of boogie boards provided, my little one struggled with no child's step provided to enable him to reach the sink etc. The last issue we had was with a constant banging noise throughout the day, we couldn't determine if this was coming from the military range or the oil refinery, although it wasn't loud enough to be irritating it was noticeable and worth mentioning. Apart from these issues we had a lovely holiday in our favourite part of the world. The cottage was very comfortable and perfectly positioned for exploring beautiful Pembrokeshire.

Thank you for your feedback Mrs Proctor. The noise was without doubt the military range. This is of course noticeable during periods of firing. The MoD do publish this online. Sometimes it is louder when either the wind blows in our direction or the bigger tanks are based at Castlemartin. The velux windows are part of any property with bedrooms in the roof space. We do not wish to have these windows only open a small amount, as is the case in all hotels nowadays. Therefore we will now advertise as not being suitable for small children.
