"Stayed for 2 nights."
Mrs Lewis was so helpful with all our requests, and nothing was to much. The cottage was absolutely spotless on our arrival. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay and more. Will definitely be booking again to return.
"We were pleasantly surprised to arrive at our holiday rental for a week away, it's rural setting in the south west welsh hills and countryside were beautiful (especial when the sunsets)."
The house is close next to another rental property with a few a friendly dogs, which we were expecting (our son was a little jumpy with them, but soon chilled out). There are also other smaller rental properties on the estate, but at a good distance away. Our son most enjoyed passing by the horse, cow and donkey each morning and evening in the local fields, when we went out to discover the local area. We found lots of to do: Train rides, Tenby seaside, Pembroke Castle, St Davids (smallest city in GB), Folly Farm and Dinosaur World (the last two places are great for children 3-10 years). The rental property, was well kitted out and have everything you needed for your stay, maybe a few more pictures on the walls to make it feel a little homelier (this is a rental though). The internet is a little slow, again this was expected in a rural location and we had enough wifi for our needs. Also, I had full mobile phone coverage with my O2 phone. Just to note, this property only has one TV in the cosy living room area (we did take a ipad, so our son could watch his own TV). We had great weather during our stay on the last week of June, we did try and eat outside one evening at around 5pm time, sadly the owners who live on the large estate decided to mow their lawn (in their own property). I'm sure they were highly unaware of us sitting outside for our dinner, maybe this is something for them to be aware of, as it was a little disruptive. The welcome pack was a lovely warming surprise and highly unexpected and we really enjoyed this personal touch. We would certainly thinking about going back again to this lovely area.
"Poor TV signal."
Overwhelming smell of kerosene from boiler on arrival at property. Very firm mattress in master bedroom. Unable to open Velux windows upstairs However, beautifully presented and comfortable accommodation. Incredible dark skies when the weather was clear, take a telescope if you have one!
"Great cottage in beautiful location."
had everything we needed, owner very quick to answer any questions. Provided a lovely welcome pack. Cottage description should make it clearer that there is another holiday cottage adjacent and another one behind, I was aware of this as read reviews before booking so wasn’t a problem for us.
"The cottage is lovely, very spacious and comfortable, and well positioned with lovely views."
We had a couple of problems (wasps nest, no hot water) which the owner, who lives close by, sorted very quickly. The main reason for not giving it full marks is because the WiFi doesn’t work (there is a router but we never got a connection). This combines with very poor/patchy phone and 4G signal, which was a problem for us. Also, the fridge isn’t adequate for a property of this size. However, the owner is very friendly and responsive and we enjoyed our stay.
"All the family loved the house and the location."
The children enjoyed the visits from the dogs and going to see the cow, donkeys and especially the big pony who seemed to like the attention. The hosts were very attentive and welcoming and the welcome pack was fabulous. We had a lovely week thank you.
"Very helpful owner who lived nearby."
The facilities were excellent, and the property had wonderful views all around being set high up. Lots of places to visit in and around the area. Would certainly recommend for a holiday in South Wales.
"A fantastic holiday home for the family to enjoy Pembrokeshire."
Great location with easy commute to spectacular scenery and beaches. Lovely, peaceful setting with rolling hills to relax in the countryside.
"We are still awaiting a response from Sykes further to a complaint letter from over a month ago, and a call that wasn't returned."
I am therefore going to say that I would not deal with Sykes in the future. When we booked our accommodation for our 2 weeks the site did not show on any of the pictures the extremely close proximity of the other properties. It is not somewhere to stay if like ourselves, you want privacy and peace. The property states no pets allowed which was a big reason for booking this property. However, on several occasions the owners dogs greeted us when we pulled up in the car. One even came into the kitchen of the property, and one fouled at the top of the steps that led to the property. This we found utterly disgusting and is not suitable for young children to be around. This was not Sykes fault but if like myself you really do not like dogs - hence you book somewhere that does not permit them - you will not like this place.
"A holiday company that actually cares."
Would 100% book with them again. Excellent standard cottage, beautiful surrounds. Fantastic customer service. Many thanks
"After booking a detached Barn which was '40 yards away' from any other property we were extremely disappointed to find the adjacent property was less than 30cms away from ours."
The entrances were almost next to each other. Our living room looked onto to their patio and our bedroom window looked onto their car park space. The patios were almost as one and offered no privacy at all.We booked that property as it looked nice and was private I complained to Sykes who said they had changed their listing to ensure future customers were not mislead but this didn't help us for our well earned break. After several emails I received a phone call to say Sykes did not accept this was a problem and would not consider any compensation for us being mislead. Sykes seem to have a poor grasp of customer service as an offer of a small refund or discount off a future holiday would have gone along way to making us feel valued. They said it was the owners fault but their staff had come out to the property to take photos etc and clearly knew it wasn't 40 yards away. Take responsibility Sykes, YOU advertised incorrectly and felt it wasn't a problem,IT WAS .
Thank you for your feedback, we apologise that you feel somewhat mislead on this occasion, we feel that the property is advertised correctly and would only recommend using all resources available on booking to ensure suitability for your party. This could be our call centers or the live chat function on our website. We are working with the property owner to ensure the details listed on all advertisements are correct and up to date. "This is our second visit."
Absolutely love coming here. The little play area a great addition. The two 3 yr olds in our party loved it, plus the little walks through bluebell woods. The house, just like last time, had everything all set up, with thoughtful touches and treats! Thank you for another wonderful, memorable holiday!
"The Barn is a fantastic holiday home on beautiful grounds on a truly idyllic location."
Lots of room for 4 adults and 4 kids. Wonderful beaches and castles to explore. Even the weather couldn't stop us from having a marvelous time. Brilliant hosts, on hand to help with anything, and top amenities. Would love to come here again.
"Beds very hard."
Very difficult to find. Couch leather so eveytime you moved could not hear tv. Beautiful place, good amenities. Views lovely. Not far to Carmarthen for shops and a mooch. Landlady lovely and willing to help.
"We had a fantastic stay at The Barn."
The property was even better than described and was perfect for exploring West Wales. The facilities, equipment and condition of the place were excellent and the owners were great to deal with regarding handover. We'd happily stay here again!!
"The holiday cottage was perfect we have stayed also in the sister property the dairy and both cottages were fantastic value for money and perfect in every way."
12 acres to enjoy. Ponds, woods, horse to feed and sheep to look at. Everything that a young family could need. Top class accommodation. Well placed for Pembrokeshire and the coast.
"We had a fantastic time with beautiful weather."
This area is rich in discoveries, to suit every tastes. The accommodation was amazing, and the owners made us feel at home, very helpful every time we've needed them. We would love to return.
"The barn was both beautiful and spacious."
Myself and 7 friends enjoyed a relaxing week surrounded by beautiful scenery. It was closer to other properties than we thought but that didn't effect our stay at all. Brilliant time had by all and we would thoroughly recommend the barn if you are looking to relax, unwind and just enjoy the company.
