“We have just had a very enjoyable ‘post lockdown’ break at Penlan Barn.”

The property is done as a traditional farmhouse with lots of interesting antiques and decorations. It has plenty of room for a family of five, really comfy and a good layout. We also loved the outside space - the patio, barbecue and of course the hot tub (a firm favourite with all!) were all fab. There was lots of outdoor space for the dog to explore but your dog needs to be well behaved if off the lead because there are chickens and goats kept in coops and fenced fields nearby. There are a couple of other houses on the farm but it’s private and we could relax and let our hair down without worrying about being overlooked/overheard. The location is great, only a few minutes from Carmarthen, supermarkets etc. but is also rural and you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. The owner is a really nice guy - helpful and attentive, around if you need any help or have any issues but not intrusive. We had a fab time and would definitely return, recommended.

The property

This barn conversion rests in the village of Nantycaws only a short distance from Carmarthen, where you will discover roman architecture, and the best of shops and restaurants.

Well-suited for families, Penylan Barn provides a true home away from home experience, comfy and inviting so you can relax morning through to evening.

Enter inside via the lovely hallway which is divided between a shower room, and a spacious utility area which holds those everyday essentials.

From here, you can access the characterful kitchen/diner, complimented by a stone floor, and seating for eight people to come together after a fun-filled afternoon.

Continue a wonderful evening in the heart-warming lounge, centred by a electric woodburner effect fire, and plenty of leather seating for everyone to enjoy.

Be spoiled for choice between the collection of bedrooms, there is a family room equally ideal for the children, and a master set-up with its own en-suite.

Velux windows welcome natural light inside and a sloped ceiling overlooks the final king size bedroom.

A wonderful bathroom completes the formation, featuring a freestanding roll top bath, and a handheld shower.

Carmarthen is about three miles away, and houses a good shopping centre, a selection of pubs/restaurants, a cinema and bowling opportunities.

The Beach at Llansteffan is approximately seven miles and plenty of outdoor pursuits can be enjoyed in your leisure time, including fishing, cycling and walking.

National Botanical Gardens of Wales are minutes away by car, Gower is within 40 minutes, and Cardiff is certainly worth a visit.

Enjoy day trips to the golden sandy beaches and rocky coves of beautiful Carmarthen Bay, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park or the majestic Black Mountains.
