The jacuzzi was amazing - far preferable to a hot tub for us. We had a relaxing week in what was a very quiet and peaceful setting, complete with visiting squirrel. Narberth is a 15-20 minute walk away and has many small shops and excellent restaurants/cafes as well as a decent local supermarket. A great base for visiting Pembrokeshire.

Now I've sung them I will extend our gratitude for your choices. Location is excellent, quiet, pretty and accessible. Property is spacious (we are only a couple but 4 would have been easily managed), well equipped and comfortable. Communication rather extensive, well detailed and useful. Welcome pack was a very nice touch, I am looking for the wine locally. All in all probably the best holiday home we have stayed in over the few years we have been using Sykes. I say probably but I really mean definitely. We look for two types of holiday let, rustic and modern. This fitted the modern very well. OK so for me the only small details I would improve on: - Bigger fridge freezer, not a lot, but we were running out of room in the fridge with fresh produce (I cook as a hobby), and a coffee press (good job I brought my own lol). Otherwise fab, sharp knives and well kitted kitchen. I only discovered the board games on the last day. Not needed but nice they were there. All in all I would like to extend gratitude for making our first visit to Wales an excellent one despite the changeable weather. A warm bubbly jacuzzi after a busy day is an excellent touch (except getting out when it's breezy brrrrrrr lol). If we are this way again The Beaches will be a hard place to beat. My thanks, Bear.

Well… that is high praise indeed, and we are so happy that you enjoyed yourselves! Thanks for your positive comments and we hope to see you again, soon Property Owner

The Beeches has everything you could ask for in a relaxing getaway and more besides: tranquil setting, comfortable beds and lounge area, homely, exceptionally clean and a super welcome pack. The weather was mixed but it didn't matter since we were so warm and cosy in the lodge. The jacuzzi was an added bonus which was lovely to relax in after exploring beautiful Pembrokeshire . This is such an ideal location for visiting this part of the world as it is close to many attractions whilst still being a quiet, relaxing base. All- in-all, a super setting which we hope to return to again. Thank you.

Only a few minutes drive from Narberth which is a lovely place to visit....plenty of great places to eat and the museum was a delight. As for the accomodation itself, it was wonderful. It contained everything we needed for a peaceful and relaxing break - the welcome pack was very gratefully received too. The beds were really comfy and the hot tub was a delight. The site itself is so tranquil, we thoroughly enjoyed watching the geese, dragonflies and birds whilst having a brew on the veranda. We hope to return again soon . Thank you.

Previous feedback criticised the beds but we all slept like babies. Our only negative was the outside terrace needs some TLC. We didn't use the spa bath because it didn't look inviting. We recommend a jet wash and a coat of paint. Otherwise a perfect place to stay.

  • "The jacuzzi was fantastic and was used several times during our week there - lovely and warm and not overlooked at all so felt very private."

Another review mentioned that the cover was held down by two pieces of wood which is true but my 10 year old son had no trouble in removing them and placing them neatly at the side so they are not heavy or unwieldy. There are trees nearby so if not covered it will get a few leaves blowing in but it is not difficult to remove them before filling the tub. The DVD player did not play BlueRay discs which was disappointing as we had taken some films to watch in the evenings/rainy days; most DVD players will play both types of disc these days so it might be worth mentioning that in the listing. WiFi was great with decent speed. Bath and shower both very good with plenty of hot water. Some fixtures and fittings need a bit of repair and we noticed a couple of the glasses in the cupboards were chipped or cracked and should be replaced. That said, all in all it was a very comfortable lodge in a fabulous location for visiting lots of places and very peaceful. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

  • "Although we enjoyed our stay at The Beeches we would like to point out one or two things which would have improved our holiday."

We felt that some of the fixtures and fittings were a bit tired and needed replacement. The blinds at the windows were quite dated and some of the fastenings were quite difficult to fasten. The TV was rather limited in provision of channels. We could not use the hot-tub as the cover was held down by 2 large pieces of wood ( one of which had dislodged which meant leaves etc. had gone into the pool) which were too heavy for us to move. When one is paying over £1,000 for a week just out of high season one shouldn't have these anomalies.

It was not well maintained and needs a serious clean: cobwebs behind blinds, mould in shower, dust on door mouldings, awful pillows and the bed needs replacing, as well as dirty frying pans. Outside all the facials need a brush off to get rid of all the bugs and cobwebs. No ITV on TV. Very disappointing.

It takes 20 minutes to walk to Narberth which is a lovely village with plenty of shops and places to eat/drink. One thing I want to mention is that there were several lights in the cottage which did not work. There was a drawer full of light bulbs but none of them seemed to fit the lamps. This did not hamper our stay in any way but I thought it would be useful to know for the next guest!

  • "Beautiful location looked ideal."

On surface looked clean until had to move the bed to find something I dropped .Behind the bed was thick with cobwebs and what appeared to be years of dust . Made me feel ill to think I'd already slept in the bed . Bed was uncomfy there was a constant drip sound from the toilet and ? from guttering .whilst nice to have a welcome pack it's not nice to have cannisters with old coffee and sugar In them . Lodge in perfect spot but needs some maintenance .

Thank you for your review; we will certainly take on board your comments, although sometimes cobwebs can appear without you realising, in such a wooded area. We will certainly get our cleaning team to address this. As for dust; this also has a habit of collecting but we DO deep clean, regularly. The bed has a new mattress with a Silent Night mattress topper, and although we appreciate that beds can be a personal thing, both ourselves and several of our friends have had no problem with the mattress. It is of high quality. Regarding the welcome pack; we thought that this was a nice way to welcome guests, yet it was turned into a negative. Many guests like to have canisters of coffee and tea, which is replenished regularly. We do appreciate that guests have their own personal tastes and that people may differ in what they focus on. However, we try to make the lodge as perfect and welcoming as possible and will endeavor to continue to do so. Owners of The Beeches Property Owner

However, there were quite a few cobwebs and although the cleanliness was OK a bit more attention to detail would be good. In addition a tea towel and hand towel for use in the kitchen would be useful. Also there is no CD player which we were expecting. Finally the mattress on the double bed is due for replacement in that you could feel the springs - we are both well under 11 stone in weight so this should not be the case. We thought of using the single beds but they seemed even worse.

We had a relaxing holiday. The hot tub was very enjoyable and not a pain to fill, just set it going and go off and do something else for 40 mins. We used it quite a lot. There are one or two minor things that need attention. The dishwasher is poor and didn't always get great results, even when we cleaned the filter. There are no decent sharp knives. Finally, when we arrived, there was a lot of dust on the tv and cobwebs in a couple of corners. None of this detracted from a super holiday fortunately.

  • "Very secluded and peaceful for a relaxing break."

Within easy driving distance of many places to see and visit and only 1 mile from the centre of Narberth where ameneties are available. The only thing to be aware of is the lack of cash machines in the town. A friendly shop owner suggested queuing up in the post office best / safe option to withdraw cash. There is a machine at the Nisa Extra supermarket but it proved unreliable .Unfortunately one high street bank has closed and the other is open normal banking hours with no outside machine so just need to think about what cash you may need in advance. Narberth is a colourful busy little place with many quirky gift and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Plenty of places to eat well or buy whatever you need for self catering , Great butchers / fish monger open on Sundays too. Grounds at Herons Brook Retreat well maintained , lots of local wildlife to watch and some very friendly domestic ducks who live on and around the lake. Very enjoyable , quiet and relaxing break - The Beeches is well positioned on a slope so that there is a great feeling of space - closest lodge far enough away to not feel overlooked or overheard by any other guests on the site. Jacuzzi privately positioned away from any general view and very easy to fill , empty and then refill with no chemicals - just fresh water each time you wish to use. Would recommend for a a relaxing quiet break with everything you might need and some extras on top . Thankyou.
