“Old property so we expected a bit of damp but unfortunately the master bedroom had such a smell of drains it led to a move into the twin room for the week.”

The power for the shower was excellent but the old leaking head and impossible to shut off lever - unless standing outside the bath are not acceptable (as noted by others in their comments book) nor is a shower curtain with mould stains on it. The property is tired, particularly bedrooms, bathroom, paintwork, and given the prolonged period of covid closure should have been upgraded and thoroughly cleaned/painted. Sykes pictures show what appears to be a huge back garden, which is in fact part of the church and grave yard next door, we used it as we had a dog and weather was great but were not sure if allowed? Parking an issue when busy. After many bookings with Sykes this one was disappointing.

The property

This former chapel vestry is just a minutes’ walk from the heart of Newport/Trefdraeth, where you will find a range of local shops, art galleries, cafes, eateries and welcoming pubs.

You can see the carved names of the less saintly Sunday school students by the steps on the wall outside. Parrog beach, the coast path and Traeth Mawr/ Newport Sands are all in walking distance.

Parrog is a great favourite with children who like to fish off the sea wall, boating enthusiasts and is a great place to watch the sun set at the end of the day. So there you have it - two beautiful beaches, a bird sanctuary, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and a choice of hostelries to end the day in - Newport really does have it all.
