"What a brilliant stay at a lovely cottage, tucked away next to the owners home, who made us feel very welcome."
It was so cosy, and comfy, and had everything needed for an enjoyable stay, including a dog friendly garden.
Lots of nice little touches including flowers, and a roaring fire on our arrival!
And so near some beautiful places we were unfamiliar with, would definitely recommend this cottage.
So glad you enjoyed your week, thank you so much for the fab comments. Gave us a real boost. I might try a week there myself. Seriously great to hear such a glowing account.Kindest regards Fran and Ches Property Owner
"This was our 5th stay here and will not be our last."
"Beautiful stay, the cottage is lovely and spacious."
The garden was absolutely perfect for our two cocker spaniels. Well equipped and in a fabulous location to travel around cardigan and surrounding areas.
"Very quiet location even though 20 mins to fantastic beach / town."
Great for dark skies and general nature. Very well equipped kitchen.
Lovely garden. The conservatory is where we spent our evenings. Thanks again.
"Fantastic location, lovely old world cottage"
"It is in the most beautiful place the cottage is fantastic hidden retreat to get ..."
It is in the most beautiful place the cottage is fantastic hidden retreat to get away for peace and quiet wonderful place
"What a beautiful cottage, we have stayed at quite a few over the years but this is defiantly our favorite."
The cottage was everything we wanted, it was so peaceful, the only sounds you heard was the sheep, birds and the cockerel, it was sheer bliss. The summer room was our favorite, we stayed in there for hours, me knitting and my husband painting. my only negative was the mattress, it was a bit firm for us.
Fran and Ches were great, really friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them.
The cottage is ideally situated and only minutes from the nearest beach, the secret waterfalls is a must, beautiful.
We both felt really sad when it was time for us to leave, we will defiantly be booking for next year.
"A very restful and enjoyable week at Maesgwyn."
Such a beautiful place in an area with wonderful walks and places to visit.
We loved it!
Thank you Fran and Ches ( and the dogs) for making us feel so welcome x
"Lovely cottage well equipped."
The garden and surrounding area were very pretty, lots of birds and wildlife.
In a good position for exploring the area. Easy distance for the coast. The Welsh Wildlife centre was only minutes away.
"We had a great week in this lovely cottage, it was perfect for us and our dogs."
Very comfortable and warm, big garden, property in a good location, so many places to visit , we loved it.
Fran and Ches were great hosts , it was obvious that it was important to them that we had an enjoyable stay and we certainly did, we will be recommending to family and friends
"Maesgwyn was a fabulous place to stay!"
Our 5 and 6 yr old boys LOVED the place. We couldn’t have hoped for better to be honest. The place was spotless with every facility to hand.
The owners were delightful and were brilliant with us and our children. They allowed us to feed the lamb of an evening, which was a real treat. We loved the peace and quiet of Maesgwyn.
We will definitely be booking the place again.
"What a beautiful, quiet cottage."
Has everything you need to escape the busy life and just sit back and relax. The beds are very comfy and clean. The whole cottage was spotless and tidy. Our children loved seeing the Farm animals around the property, our Daughter even got to feed a baby lamb! she didn't want to leave. The Open fire is wonderful and cosy, plenty of logs given. The hosts made us all feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble. The area is so peaceful and beautiful, we will definitely return.
"Cosy cottage - with lovely wood burner and peaceful rural setting."
"This was a perfect break for us."
Tucked out of the way but everything you could want is only a short drive away. Cottage is lovely, quirky and full of nooks and crannies which we love. Sure, if you want to be picky, there are things you could pick up on but that takes away the point of a place like this - and we absolutely loved it.
Everything you could possibly want is here and our hosts were lovely people. Garden is nice and enclosed so the dogs were happy too. The surrounding area, as you might expect, is delightful and the coast is but a short drive away to enjoy and Cardigan is a nice town. So what's not to like? A perfect place for peace and quiet and to rest and that is just what we did. We certainly hope to return in the future.
"This was our fourth visit to this property and we have already booked for next year."
I think this speaks for itself.
"This was a wonderful place and the owners - who lived next door to the cottage - were really welcoming."
Secluded, and spacious, ideal for bad weather retreat if the weather doesn't play fair!
"Lovely cottage in a great location."
10 minutes from the nearest beach. Cardigan even nearer. Wonderful riverside and woodland walks all around. We had a fabulous stay and were made to feel very welcome. Would return.
"Too many issues to list but owners barking dogs and the wifi not working plus many small repairs needed did spoil our holiday."
We thought post lockdown the cottage would have been in top condition. Never had to ask how to get the tv to work before or follow written instructions to have a shower. Has this property been inspected by you recently?
"This is our third visit to Maesgwyn and it will not be our last."
Love the cottage and love Fran and Chez, thank you for another great visit, see you soon
"Great location, cosy cottage and lovely owners."
Honestly didn’t want to leave. Really well located to explore the coast and very dog friendly with the enclosed garden (and friendly doggy neighbours). Our 2 Labradors loved it almost as much as we did.
"We were made most welcome and everything was prepared to a high standard even down to the newly cut back lawn."
There were a number of unexpected extras such as good quality tea, coffee, fresh flowers and Welsh cakes to name but a few, all of which were much appreciated. We had a most enjoyable holiday and plan to return next year.
"We had a great holiday in this spacious an quiet cottage!"
It is very well equipped and the owners are lovely!! It was great to have our private fenced garden for the kids and dogs! We would love to come back!
"Lovely setting and places of interest were about a 30 min drive plus."
Great garden for the dogs. Friendly and helpful owners who live next door.
"Beautiful cottage in a lovely location."
Owners are friendly and helpful.
"This was a beautiful cottage with a very large garden that was just right for us and our dog."
We were surrounded by fields with farm animals, a donkey and a horse. It was lovely to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine and a book.
The owners live next door and are so very friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
The cottage is only a few minutes from Cardigan town and convenient to getting to other coastal resorts.
We would definitely recommend this cottage.
"Pleasant location albeit somewhat remote and accessible along very narrow lanes: thank goodness for the SatNav!"
Comfort within the cottage was quite acceptable albeit a little dark in the front lounge at all times. However, the sun lounge and kitchen area were brighter and more welcoming. Very pleasant to pass the time in an evening.
Sleeping accommodation was quite acceptable. The cottage faces east and consequently the sun shone through the thin blind and curtain making for an early awakening each morning. A blackout blind would have greatly assisted in that respect.
Lovely open garden in the back, ideal for children or just sitting out in the sunshine.
More than adequate kitchen facilities, pleasant eating areas and very spacious. Heating in the property was very good, totally adequate and controllable.
Owners were very welcoming and helpful throughout our visit.
"Very helpful owner who made us feel welcome."
Treat it like a home and be sensible.
"If you are the type person who expects everything pristine, perfect, shiney and brand new, but without personality, then maybe this is not the place for you."
This is a wonderful olde worlde quaint, remote cottage next to the owners on a working farm. There are animals right on the doorstep. I was lucky enough to see lambs being born & to hold a day old lamb.
Fran & Chez are like old friends, they are not in your face, but allow you to get on with your holiday in your own pace. The cottage is full of charm, there was everything you need for a peaceful relaxing holiday in the perfect location, or if you prefer to get out and about and see the wonderful coastline and local sights.
My husband and I, plus our two dogs felt at home and able to relax in comfortable surroundings. Thank you.
"We've stayed at this peaceful cottage on 4 previous occasions so pretty much know what to expect."
Chez and Fran are lovely hosts and after welcoming us, leave us to get on with our holiday. The cottage is constantly being improved and we see something has changed each time we stay. New flooring upstairs this time.
The private garden is perfect for dogs and our border collie had great fun chasing a ball around. He even got to chase one of the farm cats which strayed into the garden whilst he was out.
A perfect retreat and worth every penny.
"Excellent service from Sykes!"
The cottage was beautiful and very cosy. Owners very helpful and friendly!
"The friendliness of Chez and Fran who own the cottage."
They both couldn't do enough for us and helped us choose good places to visit and give us a wonderful holiday
"We have already booked for 2019."
Excellent value for money, warm and comfortable with delightful hosts.
"It was a lovely cottage in great surroundings, very quite and rural, the is a large enclosed garden so we could let the dog in the garden without the worry of it disappearing!"
The owners live next door and are very friendly.
"We had a lovely time at this cottage, it was everything we'd hoped for, providing a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings and not too far from attractions."
Lots of walks to be had too.
"The cottage was delightful and our hosts so very nice too."
It was peaceful and had charming garden.
Cold days had the bonus of a large log fire very cozy. The cottage is in easy reach of the coast but far enough to go back there to relax after a day out.
"Lovely cosy cottage , very comfortable and well appointed to places to visit."
Very friendly owners.
"Lovely cottage in a pleasant “away from it all” setting."
The owners are only next door but you are left completely alone to enjoy your holiday.
Very pleasant and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. We even helped feed the lambs.
Beautiful scenery, stunning walks, log fires and Welsh cakes! What more could you want?
"Lovely and pieceful location."
Owners extremely helpful and happy to advise anytime.
Fully equipped kitchen, spacious cottage with a fantastic garden that is safe for dogs.
"This was our second stay at Maesgwyn and will not be our last, love the cottage, ..."
This was our second stay at Maesgwyn and will not be our last, love the cottage, love the location and LOVE Fran & Chez who just make the holiday perfect :)
"Owners next door were friendly and helpful but unobtrusive."
A lovely comfortable old cottage hidden away down a track in quiet countryside. We hardly used the lounge - nothing wrong with it, we just preferred to sit in the conservatory watching the birds. Only slight criticism was the fridge with a tiny icebox. For anyone who enjoys having the time to cook while on holiday it wasn't adequate and the broken door rack further reduced storage capacity. There was plenty of room for a fridge/freezer. Apart from that we spent a happy fortnight there
"Fantastic place and hosts."
Very welcoming and brilliant for the kids - encouraged to run and around and interact with the animals.
"The cottage was along very small lanes about half a mile from main road."
Could be difficult for old/new drivers.
Lovely quiet house in rural area.
"We had a great time, the owners were friendly making us very welcome."
Property was spacious and everything needed for a splendid stay was at hand. It was off the beaten track which made for a relaxing break. Plenty of room for our dog with a large rear garden, close to Cardigan and within reach of a couple of local inns although dogs not always welcome in all places, we really enjoyed our stay.
"This is the second time we have been to Maesgwyn cottage, it is lovely there, so quite and a nice large property."
Close to Cardigan and Poppit Sands which is a lovely beach. Chez and Fran are very welcoming and friendly, make you feel at home straight away. I hate leaving there, would love to stay there full time. We will definitely go back
"Everything was perfect."
..the least people know about this little gem the better as we want the pick of nxt years dates...missing the dog already..
Home from home...
"Fabulous cottage, beautifully furnished with everything you could need in a stunning location."
Lovely people live next door, friendly and helpful.
"Our third visit to this cottage and it never fails to please."
The owners are lovely people who leave you to get on with your holiday.
Superb walking in the immediate and surrounding areas.
We'll be back next year!
"The piece and quiet!"
"Lovely cosy spacious cottage."
Fantastic to arrive late at night with Milk in fridge, welsh cakes, soaps & decorations for Christmas up. A great welcome. Lovely owners. Great base for our Christmas week. Lovely beaches at Poppit sands, Penbryn sands, Llangrannog, Mwnt. Also did lovely coastal walk Aberpoth beach to Trefais beach. Also Cilgerran nearby superb 4 mile woodland walk along River Teifi. Lovely part of the world. Lovely to have wood burner. All in all excellent cottage.
"We had a fantastic week - as did Archie our 13 year old lab."
The cottage ticked all the right boxes and we strongly recommend it to anyone seeking a 'get away' peace and quiet holiday.
Thanks to Fran & Chaz the owners
"An Amazing house in the middle of a beautiful farm."
Charming, cosy and quiet. Perfect for our holidays.
"This is a stunning cottage set in a beautiful location."
The owner is very considerate.
"An amazing property in a beautiful location and owned by the friendliest, happiest, helpful people you will ever meet."
We will be definitely be going back again.
"We wanted somewhere peaceful and quiet from where to explore Pembrokeshire and this cottage suited our needs perfectly."
Ample room and comfort in which to relax and every convenience that we could have wanted in a holiday cottage.
The owners were perfect hosts, always on hand and available for a chat, but never intrusive although they were right alongside.
We will be going back for more of whatever magic it is that Maesgwyn dispenses.
"So much about the cottage was perfect."
Lovely and homely, gorgeous log fire. Everything we could need and more. Very welcoming and a beautiful location. One small issue was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Highly recommended, would certainly consider a return visit.
"A lovely cottage with the owners on hand to deal with any issues straight away."
A very roomy cottage, particularly downstairs, with a conservatory looking out on to a private garden and fields beyond. Located on the owner's smallholding, sheep and cows were present along with the owner's friendly cats and dogs. It was an excellent base for gaining access to coastal walks and within one hours drive of St Davids and Tenby.
"The location was excellent, you are far enough away for peace and quiet but close enough to town for everything you need."
The property is spacious and had everything we needed. Had a huge garden which the dog loved. The owners were very nice and full of local knowledge of places to visit. Just stunning beaches and countryside, never get bored of it. Had a great restful time, would definitely go there again.
"The cottage was just perfect for our holiday - great location (nice and quiet), excellent accommodation and plenty of room."
It was nice to have a big garden too. The owners were very helpful and everything was just as we wanted it.
"So peaceful and relaxing."
The owners were warm & friendly, the cottage is a credit to them. The views were breathtaking.
"Excellent base to walk from, so many walks straight from the garden with no roads, especially good for dogs."
Network of walks excellent. Owner very friendly and helpful. Cottage comfortable and warm.
Overall very pleased
"The cottage was very cosy and welcoming after being out for the day in wet, windy and cold weather!"
Everything that we needed was there and little extra touches made it more special. A very peaceful short break.
"We really liked the setting, it is lovely and quiet."
The owners were friendly and welcoming. We love the area and will return to Pembrokeshire next year. Our dog was also made very welcome which was lovely.
"The cottage is lovely, all the home comforts."
The owners make you feel very welcome. They encouraged the children to make friends with the animals on the farm. I would recommend this property to family's.
