The area is very peaceful and quiet with no street lights at night so no light pollution and you can see the stars. Graham and Mona were wonderful hosts, on hand if you needed anything as they live next door and are able to give advice if required about the local area. We were greeted on arrival and loved the welsh cakes left for us to have with our first cuppa and came home with some tomato plants supplied to us by Graham. The location of property is ideal to explore the local area and then be able to return to property and relax in the evening. We are aiming to return again in the near future.

It also has a private sunny patio with a BBQ to use. Graham and Mona were excellent hosts and a gold mine of useful local knowledge. There are two small convenience stores in Pendine walking to them is a bit of a challenge though as the the hill is 20% in places. However if you can make it down the hill, and back up, there is an excellent Chinese restaurant and a good chippy.

The hilll is 20% in places so if mobility is a consideration, this might impact on it. However, if walking and backpacking or cycling is your thing it's ideally positioned in easy access to walks and rides. The owners live on site in their own home and couldn't be more accomodating or friendly. We were given produce from their vegetable garden and valuable information about local tide times. The accomodationn was immaculate and easily catered for a family of four (two large teens) and a dog. The enclosed patio area catches the sun most of the day so if you don't want to venture out, it's a very relaxing place to just sit there and relax. The four of us had a very happy and peaceful week here.

From the complimentary pint of milk (nothing like an immediate cup of tea after a long journey) to the bag of surplus cooking apples as we left (all now converted to apple sauce and frozen in containers - Thank you), everything was in place for a relaxing and enjoyable week's holiday. We had come down in order to support our son who was competing in Wales Ironman so this location provided the perfect base for the journey to Tenby and then for several challenging coastal walks (some by just walking out of the door) in the following days. As with all Syke's holiday cottages, the pricing structure doesn't really work for the 2 / 3 days' break - but if you are staying for a week, you will struggle to get better value for money or a more comfortable stay for your money - we certainly hope to be back!

About the location

PENDINE

Tenby 15 miles.

A delightful seaside village with a seven mile stretch of sandy beach, famous in its history for car racing and speed record attempts. The fateful car ‘Babs’, the driver of which was killed in one of the many speed record attempts, was buried in the sands for many years, but has now been dug up, restored and is often in the local museum for all to admire. Even the famous Amy Johnson used these perfect flat sands to take off on one of her many record flights. Steeped in history, these sands are perfect all year round, whether sunbathing, swimming and kite flying. With local pubs and restaurants serving good food, a café, a grocery shop and gift shops, Pendine is the perfect seaside village. Pendine is also home to the recently built Land of Speeds MUseum, which can be found on Pendine Promenade; the land speed record was actually broken on Pendine's beach, too! Nearby, the attractions range from Dylan Thomas' famous boathouse, where he penned so many of his literary masterpieces, castles, more sandy beaches, hidden coves and the vibrant seaside resort of Tenby, with Caldey Island and the majestic monastery a short boat trip away. A stunning location for exploring this beautiful part of Wales.
