Everything we needed in the property. No wifi but this was not a problem. Perfect place to recharge your batteries. Would stay again.

beds comfy to sleep in .doors rattle when windy. have left the owner some suggestions like putting up handrails up the stairs. handrails for garden steps.info needed for a doctor and location of nearest hospital. the patio area needed weeding and table has broken slates this area looks unloved

Cottage well equipped but dated. I didn't sleep well due to hard bed and thin curtains. Narrow access roads but lovely and peaceful, good for walks. A bit far out from facilities

  • "Anne was very welcoming."

The cottage met all our basic needs. The views were spectacular, the tranquility wonderful. Cooker - fan oven didn’t appear to be working - but we managed to suss out the rest of the kitchen. Chipped plates always dismays me as they are so cheap to replace. Kitchen scissors & tongs would have been useful. Beds were comfy - there were dog hairs on the upstairs rug, but we knew it was a dog friendly cottage? Bathroom sink tap was a bit soapy and hair in the sink on arrival but that feels nit picky but both these last bits are new to us. We would be happy to return - which I think says a lot.

A tiny sticker could hardly read up really high up . There were bugs all around ghe property. The views were amazing. A very steep mountain road to get up ,should be a warning ,my mums car could hardly making it up there . In fact my mum could drive up there my husband had to go back half way to rescue her .

  • "We enjoyed our stay in the cottage, which we found quite comfortable but feel it is coming up to needing a bit of TLC, just minor things the loose cushions on the sofas are looking a bit tatty , and the bathroom in places is a bit worn."

The garden furniture didn't look inviting to sit on and the garden area in general needed attention. Overall allowing for value for money we felt it was reasonably fair.

  • "Whilst we had a lovely break in a beautiful setting, it's first time we had to Hoover all carpets needed as dead flies and bugs under beds and sofas, and bed frames thick with dust, not been done for a while."

Did speak to owner who depends on a cleaner. You as a company need to visit to alter rating, as bit tatty furnishing wise, sofas need a clean or replacing, torn and tatty cushions.

We experienced a problem with the external door & could not open it so had to use the french doors to get in & out. Reported it to Anne & a locksmith came to fix it the following day, no hassle!.. The cottage is in need of upgrade & some TLC in our opinion but non the less, it’s a comfortable cosy small cottage that had everything we needed. One gripe though - the shower was not hot enough & lacked power flow but that’s just us!.. It certainly wouldn’t deter me booking here again in the future.

The property

Situated high up near Cemaes Head, the highest point on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and overlooking Cardigan Island, this detached cottage enjoys views across the Teifi Estuary and further out to sea.

Dolphins are sometimes seen in the bay but are regular visitors just further north at New Quay, where you can take dolphin spotting boat trips and are seldom disappointed.

The owners have made every effort to ensure that all your needs are catered for, outside is a table and chairs which also takes in the amazing views and catches the sun and indoors everything you need is provided for.

The cottage is situated just under a mile from the Blue Flag beach of Poppit Sands, which is patrolled by lifeguards from May to September and is also a base for the Cardigan RNLI lifeboat and shop.

There is also a popular beach café and ice cream kiosk. Cardigan is some four miles away and the fully restored site of Cardigan Castle is well worth a visit and it boasts a restaurant/café which is recommended.

The town itself offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and galleries.

About the location

ST DOGMAELS

Cardigan 1 mile.

St Dogmaels is an ancient and tranquil village nestling peacefully around its ruined abbey at the mouth of the River Teifi on the totally unspoiled west Wales coast. One of its attractions is Y Felin, one of only two working watermills in Wales and retains the machinery installed in 1820. It is thought the mill was originally built by the monks of St Dogmaels' 12th century Abbey. The miller shows how the mill works and bread, flour and cakes can be purchased from the mill or you can enjoy tea and cakes and light lunches in the Coach House Café nearby. An award winning local produce market is held here every Tuesday and is well worth a visit. The village has a pub, a fish & chip shop, a Post Office, a cafe and a small museum at the abbey. There is also a pretty green and a millpond with ducks. Cardigan, a delightful ancient market town, is just over a mile away. This ancient town sits on the estuary of the River Teifi at the base of Cardigan Bay. Its unspoilt townscape and rich heritage provide a nostalgic backdrop to a thriving culture of arts and crafts, events and music festivals. Nearby is the wonderful Poppit Sands where you can relax on sunny days or enjoy invigorating walks in the cooler months, as well as exploring the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast Path. St Dogmaels is the start or finish of the 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path from St Dogmaels to Amroth. Visit Castell Henllys, the Iron Age Fort where everyone is encouraged to learn the ancient way of living, or visit the wonderful Shire Horse Farm to see how farming was before tractors. The Cardigan Bay dolphins can be seen off the bay on a regular basis and more active pursuits can be found at Cardigan Bay Active, including surfing, wildlife trips or coasteering. With scenic coastal, riverside and countryside walks and an array of other beaches and attractions all close by, this is a perfect holiday location all year round.
