  • "Old Tether Barn is an absolute gem."

A very private and beautiful converted barn, super clean, tastefully designed and decorated, with an amazing view, and it's own two sheep. Thoughtfully equipped with everything you could need and lots of information and notes about the area and walks and places to visit. We had sun and rain and enjoyed each day of our one week stay. A short walk down the lane we found a walk straight up to the fort and Preseli Hills, and WOW! what outstanding views far and wide - we had to wait for a guaranteed clear day for this one. We visited curious iron age burial chambers and went on coastal path walks with yet more stunning views and scenery. We saw dolphins in the sea on the best walk around Dinas Island, and we saw seal in the sea on our walks around Strumble Head and around the Marloes peninsula. Marloes Sands has a stunning sandy beach too, with dramatic bolder rocks (careful of the tide coming in). Newport, a short drive away from Old Tether Barn, is a quaint, pretty, arty old village with good pubs and places to eat and also has a very big sandy beach. I could go on and on about what a fab week we had at Old Tether Barn. Couldn't believe our luck, and can't thank Sue and Rod enough for such a wonderful retreat.

  • "Spent a lovely cold and wet week in the barn."

Could catch up on my reading, by a fireplace, play a few games of scrabble and just shut off from the hustle and bustle of the year. Made a turn at a few castles and visited Pembroke, Cardigan and even won something on a Christmas raffle in Narberth. In the study desk, there are tons of ideas of walks and things to do near by. Cottage has everything and exactly like it’s pictures, and exactly what was needed. As we came in December, Sue even asked beforehand if she should make the cottage a bit Christmassy (granted I missed that mail), so she put a huge nice Poinsettia in the cottage. The only issue is finding the cottage on the first day, we got to Crymych - stopped to get our bearings, then tried using the directions from the mail, as well as, “what three words”, got a bit lost for about 5 min as it’s not that easy to find the turnoff in the dark, also noticed “what three words” worked better with Apple Maps than Google maps - but eventually got there and was well worth it.

It was really well presented, very well equipped; the owners had thought of everything. We arrived to wine, coffee, chocolate and even a pint of milk, which was a lovely gesture! Sue had also left extra toiletries in case we had forgotten anything. The owners live next door and are on hand if you need anything but leave you to your own devices if not. It's a stunning location, with a beautiful garden and you have all you need for a few days away or a week's holiday. Highly recommend.

My Husband and I had a week there, and it was just not long enough. My husband is a Veteran, and we were making Memories, as to come this distance from Australia, is a long flight. This amazing Barn, just shows how much this lovely couple, wanted to do the right thing by this wonderful old Barn. To get the balance right is a difficult thing. The quality fittings throughout this Barn, the attention to all the small details. The wood burning stove, the little spaces, that gave both of us, a place to read, enjoy our own time. Then when we wanted time with each other, we could do that as well. A glass of wine..Sitting outside, in the little nook there, or, the table and chairs, in the warm sun..This lovely Barn, offers you all the privacy that you need. We have travelled and stayed at some lovely B&B's, but Old Tether Barn, is the one that caught our hearts. We only wish that we could have stayed so much longer. If we could come back, we would.. The care, the skill, the love and respect, that has gone into making this, a most wonderful place to stay, shows. This lovely old restored Barn, just wrapped it arms around us, and we did not want to leave...Shall we also mention the Sheep, the Garden, and the big fat Bumble Bees? Thank you both for allowing us, to have time at Old Tether Barn, it was such a wonderful gift, and we just loved it.

The cottage was out in the wilds, but not difficult to find. The photos of the property were accurate, but inevitably couldn't convey the cosiness inside. A picture of the view would be useful, because sometimes there is little or indication of what awaits you. At the Old Tether Barn however, the view is magnificent.
