Located in a peaceful position on the outskirts of Kidwelly town, surrounded by a mix of rolling countryside and endearing woodland is The Old Forge Pumphouse Annex.

Set in the grounds of the owner’s home, this pretty, single-storey cottage offers a couple a wonderful place to call home as they explore this beautiful part of Carmarthenshire and is great for birdwatching and observing the wildlife.

Soak up the scenic surroundings before venturing inside to find the open-plan living space, decorated with bright tones and with plush furnishings to ensure that you and your partner can unwind at the end of each day.

The kitchen comes fully-equipped to cater delicious meals, which can be enjoyed at the dining table with an accompanying tipple, perfect for toasting to a romantic getaway in Wales.

Afterwards, sink into the arms of the sofa and flick through the channels of the TV with Sky or delve into a good book.

Sleep is sure to come easy in the double bedroom, where you can look forward to waking up each morning to the soundtrack of birdsong and the nearby river.

Take your morning cup of tea out onto the private patio area during the summer months, where you can also return to come evening to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining.

From here, you can also perch at the edge of the river Gwendraeth Fach and if you are lucky, you can catch a glimpse of otters swimming past, as well as lots of other endearing wildlife, making this a truly tranquil spot to unwind.

Guests are also welcome to explore the owners’ grounds to discover a plethora of walking opportunities, a perfect way to better acquaint yourself with your surroundings.

Take the car out to explore the market town of Kidwelly to find your local amenities, including several pubs and shops, as well as a plethora of attractions such as the 12th century priory church and one of Wales’ best castles, Kidwelly Castle, recently voted the fourth castle best in UK, a great opportunity to delve into the area’s past.

For those feeling active, head to Pembrey Country Park, boasting 500 acres of park and woodland with an array of outdoor pursuits, such as horse riding, laser tag, golf, skiing and much more, and the sandy beach of Cefn Sidan provides a peaceful spot for sunbathing and relaxing.

Further afield is the colourful town of Tenby, where you will find another delightful beach and a picturesque harbour, or for avid ramblers, you can walk part of the Wales Coast Path for some breath-taking scenery.

Other local attractions include the National Botanic Garden of Wales and British Bird of Prey Centre; there is also the hidden gem of Barafundle Bay and the Gower beaches of Oxwich and Rhossili awaiting to be discovered.
