  • "We stayed at the property for the last week of August with a family of 4 and dog."

We found a last-minute deal that was approx 1/2 the list price. Pros: The property layout is excellent with plenty of space for us all. It's in the most beautiful of settings with a small beach only a 5-minute walk. Super friendly/helpful neighbours and site manager. Vast empty beaches, craggy coves and dramatic coastlines. Pembrokeshire delivers everything you could want from a peaceful getaway. Cons: Terrible "How to find us" instructions with a ridiculously late check-in time of 6 pm. No welcome pack of any description unless you count a couple of toilet rolls and 1/2 used bottle of washing-up liquid. If you like slightly tatty IKEA furniture then you're in luck, it's functional but very basic and uninspiring. The en-suite isn't really fit for purpose... it floods out the bedroom unless mopped after each shower and the toilet is worrying slow at flushing. There's no hoover, which is a problem when you've got a moulting spaniel. Lastly, I appreciate that the property is on a working farm but it suffers from a pretty bad fly issue, the neighbours didn't have the same problem so either we need to change our wash habits or there's something going on with the property. Overall we had the most amazing week and would go back to Pembrokeshire in a heartbeat. With some basic maintenance and a little more thought the property could easily match the superb quality of its location.

  • "The lady and gentleman on site were very friendly and helpful and the cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived."

The site itself is quiet and has beautiful views over farmland but not far from Haverford West and Milford Haven. There are lovely walks to be had close by as is the beach at low tide where children were enjoying crabbing. I would recommend this site and look forward to returning.

  • "The property is in urgent need of upgrading eg when you showered in disabled bathroom the water ran into the bedroom could do with some rugs on the floor some blinds at the dining room window."

Thought it was not worth the cost I had to pay.

  • "The accommodation is in a beautiful setting with great potential but is sadly looking a little tired."

Most of the furniture is wobbly and the beds are not very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped but there are no tea towels oven gloves etc. Luckily I had put tea towels in. With a bit of tlc the barn would be stunning and make any stay worthy of a 5 star rating. Also don’t forget towels as they are not provided!

Neighbours and people that we met on our walks and travels were exceptionally pleasant and a delight in taking time to be helpful.

  • "The WiFi did not work for the whole of our week's stay."

I messaged Sykes help via the booking help at least four times about the problems and did not receive any response other than the automated acknowledgement. I still have not received a personal response. One of our search criteria is for WiFi and without it we had difficulty in sourcing information on places to visit in the local area, since there are no leaflets available in the cottage. There are other personal reasons as to why we specifically want to have WiFi available to us. The managers tried to sort out the lack of WiFi by contacting the owner, who then had to contact the supplier who apparently told the manager via the owner that the WiFi was going into the property and should be working, but still the fault light remained on the Fritz box and no WiFi was available to us. There wasn't even 4g available for using our phones. I feel Sykes' customer service was non existent since there has been no personal response at all. For this reason, I would not use Sykes again. Regarding facilities, we were disappointed by the lack of heated towel rails which meant the towels, which we had to supply ourselves, were hard to get dry for the next use. When I asked about how we could dry them, I was shown the tumble dryer in a laundry room in which I could put a £1 for use. We made do with the washing line but when it was wet it was impossible. Being able to dry towels is a pretty basic requirement. The views from the back would very pleasant but were somewhat spoilt by a storage area of various machinery including a cherry picker, caravan and a boat. The underfloor heating in the bathrooms did not appear to be available so the wet room floor was hard to dry off. There was a lovely fireplace but with no grate and and a soul less electric fan heater as a poor substitute. The furniture was acceptable but it all seemed a bit tired compared to other places we have stayed. Overall it was a bit "cheerless" which was a shame as it has potential to be better.

  • "A lovely stay ."

The accommodation was comfortable and very well equipped. As other reviewers have mentioned drying clothes could be problematic in wetter weather and one outdoor rotary washing line is not enough . But essentially a lovely place in a lovely setting and close to beaches etc. Shame the local pub has closed

  • "We had a lovely week staying here."

The property was clean and reasonably well equipped in the kitchen. You do need to bring all your own cleaning gear. There are no cloths, washing up liquid, dishwasher pellets etc. We would have liked instructions to the washing machine and to have had an indoor airier to dry clothes as we had a couple of days of rain and could not dry them outside. Also a hoover would of helped. Having said that, it is a brilliant location, so quiet and lovely view across the fields with a very short walk to the coastal path, lovely sand beach at low tide and a beautiful inlet to the estuary to swim in at high tide. I would happily stay here again. Sally

  • "Really pleasant and quiet place."

My kids really enjoyed playing around and we received a warm welcome throughout our stay. We could walk to the coast line part and to Sandy beach from the cottage which was great too. That was a very pleasant experience

  • "Beautiful location and very nice cottage."

Clean, comfortable but a bit basic. Could do with at least a few cosy lamps in the living area rather than just the ceiling lamp. Could generally do with an upgrade of the furniture which is a bit basic. Overall, a beautiful location. Paul and Liz extremely nice and helpful. Very disappointed though with changing the check in time from 3 to 6pm after booking. Understand the extra cleaning needed but , 6 pm is a very late check in especially when check out is 10 am. Told Sykes but they were not helpful even to try.
