  • "Lovely house & garden in a very convenient location so we had a good week in spite of the problems with the house."

Well equipped kitchen but needs more cereal bowls, water glasses & wine glasses (if advertised for 8 should have at least that many essentials). I agree with others about the clutter. During our stay the boiler stopped working so 2 people had cold showers. As the owner did not respond until much later our son-in-law spent an afternoon on-line to try to find out how to rectify the problem & then sorted it which saved her a call out fee. One of the double glazed panels cracked so another interruption when the double glazing man came. Barely a word of thanks or apology from the owner. The door to main bedroom doesn’t shut properly & there were no bedside tables with lamps except a very bright light which needed charging (no lead provided) so no bedtime reading!

  • "Had a very good week, the property is as listed an older dated property well situated for traveling around the area (uphill walk from the town and beach) with plenty of rooms, facilities & equipment but a bit cluttered and could benefit with freshening up but adequate ."

The garden was a delight and credit to the owner, the outside space is vast and to benefit the adjacent Garden Room the small lawned area could be partitioned off without detracting from the main house. The only issue we had was from the daily influx of flies within the property, particularly in the kitchen windows, utility area and rear bedroom this was pointed out to the owner on our arrival but not resolved during our stay, hopefully it can be resolved for others. The property would not be ideal for those with mobility issues.

  • "Lovely house in such a wonderful location, well-equipped and comfortable."

The only minor criticism would be the number of ornaments around the property that sometimes got in the way (as we were afraid of breaking them!) and also that the bins in the kitchen had seen better days. Other than that, faultless!

  • "Really comfortable home away from home , big kitchen - very home cook friendly but couldn't find scales."

Dog friendly garden until he found an escape route next to the other property in the grounds. We really enjoyed our break and family meet-up at this property, wished we could have stayed longer. Would have been helpful to have some rails next to external steps for older members of the family but that's just been picky!

  • "I would like to caveat this review by saying that we had a lovely time getting away as a family."

Given the difficulties of getting away this year then it was nice to get away and the house was appointed well enough to allow us to enjoy ourselves when we were there. However, there were a few things about the house that disappointed us. First off, you are sharing the property with someone else. You have exclusive use of the house, but what I can only assume was the garage has been converted into a residential property and there were other guests in there so you are sharing the garden and driveway with other holiday makers. This was not in the literature and, given the current climate around COVID, disappointing to discover on arrival. The house was not in a great state of repair. 2 of the shower drains were blocked so we had to get drain unclogger in order to use them, the door handle on one of the bedrooms was hanging off, there were obvious signs of flaking or chipped paint all over the house and the bedding that was provided was not suitable for use as, when we stripped the beds at the end of the holiday we discovered stained and brown pillows and bedding. Additionally we were told that due to enhanced cleaning we were not permitted to check in until 3pm and had to vacate by 9am giving a 6hr cleaning window. Sadly it was noticeable that this window had not been utilised fully given that there was thick layer of dust on furniture in the living room. Whilst we were not expecting a modern, high end house from the picture on the website we were overall not impressed by the condition the house was in when we arrived. It is worth noting though that there is generally everything you will need in terms of what is provided in the house - 2 fridges AND a drinks fridge, chest freezer, plenty of pots, pans, extensive kitchen equipment, coffee maker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher. So that was really useful as, given we had disgusting weather, we were trapped in the house and had to do a lot of our own cooking. In conclusion - did we have a good holiday - yes; did the house contribute to that enjoyment - partly; would we go back to the same property - probably not.

The property does have exclusive use of a large garden and the advert does explain that the driveway is shared. Areas were checked for dust, all maintenance was done, and all pillows and bedding were also replaced. The property has also been redecorated for the 2021 season. Property Owner

  • "“Hafod Wen” is a spacious and comfortable house furnished in traditional style."

The large kitchen and utility room have many cupboards filled with a range of equipment. Unfortunately, the boiler had broken down before we arrived and couldn’t be mended until a new part could be picked up. However, the owner was very considerate and provided several electric heaters, the log burner was lit and the lounge had a gas fire so we managed very well. The house is a short but steep walk from the shops, cafes and pubs of Saundersfoot. We enjoyed a very pleasant fish meal at Harbwr - my husband was impressed by the local beers. We stayed here for a few days in February when storms hit us, so we weren’t able to take advantage of the large, mature garden, unfortunately. Tenby is a short drive away and we also enjoyed a visit to Narberth which has some interesting shops and cafes. I would certainly recommend this property for a family holiday and we would love to make a return visit one day.

  • "This exceeded expectations, a few minutes walk from one beach which was around the corner, Saundersfoot 10 minute walk."

Outstanding home to stay in, the minute we walked in there was a homely feel, Tenby a drive away, we had such a beautiful week 5 days of sun in January and 5 beach visits!!! Celebrated our daughters 30th with grandchildren running free happy giggling was such a pleasure to see and hear, the garden! Wow! This house is all about the garden I can well imagine in the summer, well kept and some mature trees which looked pretty in January never mind summer ❤️ Kitchen was my fav place to be, so much room so much utensils and some quirky ones to which we all had a good discussion about. Laundry room well equipped for 8 and 2 small doggies, even my Mum popped down, we had amazing food parties in the dinning area every night and I must say I totally loved the log burner that was my job each night to sort. How fortunate is the owner of this property who even took the time to pop in and introduced herself, we thought that was very welcoming and courteous. Games to play that was stocked in the laundry room, thank you. The main bedrooms were very spacious, clean and the sun shone through which was absolutely amazing, overlooking the garden area which we sat and watched the squirrels play through the tall trees. A double bedroom with a shower room which was a little small for me and my other half but have to say so warm and cozy. Thank you for an amazing stay where we all made lovely memories, I wish I could post the photos taken as you would be able to see how we enjoyed every day and night at Hafodwen, thank you for having us and to the kind owner of this happy house we adored ❤️❤️

  • "Myself and family loved staying here, it’s just a shame we had to come home!"

We find it difficult all getting together in one of our homes as our houses are too small for all of us and going out to a restaurant is hard work with the children so staying here was perfect. Big dining room table so we could all have food together and have drinks and games when children had gone to bed. I would defUnitedly recommend staying here, very close to Folly Farm and Manor Park which we went too! It was a excellent standard and we couldn’t have asked for anything more so thank you!

  • "Hafodwen is a lovely roomy house, with a very well equipped kitchen and utility room."

There is a separate dining room with wood burning stove and comfortable sitting room. Two of the bedrooms have beautiful sea views and all of them were very clean and comfortable. The large garden is immaculate, with beautiful trees and lots of herbs. Unfortunately the kitchen floor was dirty and had to be mopped before we used it, the kettle has no handle and there were dead flies on the sitting room window sills and under the chaise longue. However, the positives far outweighed the negatives and we loved the house and would definitely stay here again.

  • "House is in a great location is roomy and although modernised, still retains many original features and character."

The back garden is lovely with outdoor seating on the patio and is not overlooked by neighbouring properties. A couple of issues with parking more than 2 cars and the lack of a wardrobe in one of the bedrooms were only minor points and did not detract from an otherwise fantastic holiday. Would recommend a stay there.

  • "Hafodwen is a lovely base for exploring Saundersfoot and the surrounding area."

We had a very enjoyable weeks stay and met the owner who was extremely welcoming. There are many positives to the property however there are some points that need amending. The directions to the property need improving as we had difficulty in locating the property. In photo 23 of 30, one of the rear facing bedrooms. A television is shown as being present. There was no TV in the bedroom so I would suggest that another photo needs to be taken as this is misleading. The description in the narrative that Glen beach is at the foot of the garden is again incorrect and misleading, There is a property that is being renovated at the foot of the garden and Glen beach is some distance away, past many other properties, a road and woods. Any views of Saundersfoot bay are only visible from the upstairs bedrooms and again this is a glimpse in the distance. The description of ample parking is slightly incorrect as the front parking area is shared with another property also owned by the Hafodwen owner and is an unattached annexe which is also let out. Parking is shared with guests staying at Hafodwen so two parking places are available for Hafodwen guests. These are not meant as any criticisms of Hafodwen, merely objective and constructive views.
