  • "Beautiful cottage and very well equipped; twin bedroom quite small but comfortable, double bedroom very cold and damp, heating was included but unable to boost preset temperature limit as controls were taped up therefore unusable !"

! Weather was very wet, unseasonably cool, electric fire in lounge thankfully helped but radiators would have been much better especially in bedrooms, otherwise a really lovely holiday cottage.

With regard to the heating the thermostat in the lounge is programmed for set times and temperatures but the guest can easily override these settings with the temperature up and down buttons which are freely accessible. Explanations if required are fully detailed within the information booklet. We personally welcome each guest and inform them if they have any issues we are only next door. We are sorry that you felt unable to come and see us. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage - very well presented on arrival and attentive host (Caroline) who lives next door."

Fully equipped kitchen including consumables, bin bags etc and a welcome pack with delicious cakes! Comprehensive user manual. Beds and bedding are basic but comfortable. Slightly damp smell in main bedroom - fortunately we enjoyed decent weather (for The Gower) so able to open windows continually. Spacious bathrooms. Cosy lounge/diner. Some noise from nearby road and dogs barking (possibly adjacent farm?) but otherwise an excellent location for all Gower attractions.

The private garden needed tidying and a bit of weeding. The local pub has now closed. The cottage and location are beautiful, the owners are very friendly and helpful. Would we stay here again? Absolutely

We were pleased to read that you thought both the cottage and location were beautiful. The local pub unfortunately closed a few years ago and the listing details were immediately changed to maintain the listings accuracy. We appreciate that the garden needed its normal weekly maintenance but unfortunately due to the wet weather conditions we were unable to carry this out. We are surprised that the hard furnishings of the en-suite would harbour any dog aroma. Property Owner

The garden was perfect for our small westie, and the cottage layout and furnishings were wonderful for the humans. A great and thoughtful touch having milk, cakes, bread and coffee/tea waiting for us. The hosts said hello once we'd arrived but left us to our own devices apart from that, which was just what we needed. Everything is so close. Rhossilli, Oxwich and Port Eynon are all within 5-10mins drive. A great base to get out and explore from, or stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet.

30pm sent a text to the owner who came over after a few moments and she said its because the radiators were up to temperature as they had thermostatic valves. all the valves were set to 5 which is the highest they go the cottage was getting cold so it was not the valves, she had a look at the boiler which was not on despite it being on a timed programme and pressed a button to reset and the boiler restarted about 2 hours later we had to reset the boiler again ourselves and we had to keep doing this for the duration of the holiday sent the owner another text at 9.30am on Monday to say we have to keep resetting the boiler every 2 hours otherwise the radiators go off and the cottage goes cold, she came over again and said again its the thermostatic valves and that's how its set up despite the cottage being cold my mother who is 85 feels the cold could tell when the heating was going off and we had to keep an eye on the time to get ready to reset the boiler, there was a electric heater in the lounge so we had to put that on to get some heat in the lounge overall the cottage was nice and cosy just the heating was the problem

Thank you for your feedback, The Old Dairy has now been fitted with a new combination boiler. Property Owner

Caroline and Huw have put a lot of work into making guests feel very comfortable, not to mention the scrumptious welcome tray for us humans as well as a treat for the pooch. About the location

SCURLAGE

Swansea 14 miles; Rhossili 3.5 miles; Port Eynon 1.5 miles.

Scurlage is a small village, named after the family who built a fortified manor house, although none of the remains of ‘Scurlage Castle’ have survived. This little village is between the popular beachside villages of Rhossili and Port Eynon and is close to the fantastic beaches of the Gower Peninsula including Oxwich Bay. A perfect central location to be a short distance from fantastic coastline and the iconic Worms Head. The little village has various footpaths crisscrossing the area, shop, pharmacy, doctors surgery and take-away, but still retains its sleepy village personality.
