  • "Lovely cottage with everything you need (apart from fire logs)."

Way bigger than it looks on the website and was very cosy with comfy beds. The hot tub is amazing and we were in it every day. A little tip if staying here, DON'T buy logs from the Gulf petrol station up the road (Square and Compass). They are kept outside so if its wet then they are useless. Instead drive 8 miles to the Letterston Village Stores where you can get a big bag of logs and big bag of kindling wood for £10 which are kept in the dry. The pub (The Ship Inn) is the only one in the village and is superb!

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the red cottage."

The hot tub was fantastic! We loved watching the stars from the tub at night, it was beautiful. Only a short walk to the friendly Ship Inn and the beautiful Aberfelin beach where we saw stunning sunsets. We would love to visit again. The owners of the red cottage looked after us amazingly when we needed anything, we would definitely recommend a stay in this lovely quaint cottage.

My boys and I had a lovely time at the cottage, which was well located near the coast. The cottage is extremely comfortable, cosy and is very big. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the host. Highly recommended, will most definitely visit again. We miss the beautiful views!

Thank you for providing us with such positive feedback about the cottage and the surrounding area. We're delighted that the boys had a fantastic holiday in Trefin and look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable and the owner was helpful putting things right as necessary."

What let the cottage down was the basics not being available. No hand wash in the kitchen, the tiniest amount of washing up liquid, not one dishwasher tablet, no fire starter pack, one solitary toilet roll, the smallest welcome pack we have ever experienced, 2 tea bags, 2 instant coffee sachets, pint milk - welsh cakes were appreciated though, no spare bin bags, resolved, no hot tub towels, resolved, no washing line or clothes maiden, resolved. We don't expect all inclusive and we bring provisions it did feel that the basics were skimped on. The lack of a visitors book was a real shame, as they can be so helpful with previous visitors recommendations. There is an information pack however it is out of date. We went to a market detailed in there to find is ceased trading a year ago and the farm shop has very little there not worth the drive. Some of the places recommended are a long way from the cottage. As previous visitors have mentioned, the bathroom can become smelly at times, the lack of net curtains in the bedroom creates a lack of privacy. The hot tub recommended temperature of 34 degrees creates a luke warm tub and is nowhere near hot enough. We have rented several properties with hot tubs and have never encountered this. It should be declared on the listing, I would not book a cottage that insisted on this. Again, this felt like a cost cutting exercise. Overall, an absolutely lovely property and the owner was helpful. We had a lovely time staying there, just needs a bit more attention to visitors' needs.

Thank you for your feedback about our cottage and are delighted that you enjoyed our stay and found the property clean and comfortable. We have now had a new updated information folder for the cottage for the season. Welcome pack has a hand wash in the bathroom, dishwasher tablet and washing up liquid in kitchen and coffee, tea and welsh cakes. We will now improve the pack for the rest of the season. Hot tub is set at an average of 35/36 degrees for families, Guests are welcome to control the Temperature for their own needs. Property Owner

Bathroom had large walk in waterful shower. Lounge diner comfortable and cosy. Good broadband , but tv difficult to navigate . Good off road parking on premises. Hot tub in nice private location . Good location for walking the coastal path. Local pub The Ship served local tasty food in a pleasant atmosphere all , staff very friendly . The only thing I would say is that it might be beneficial to somehow have the skylight open in the bathroom (without letting in rain when it's open) apart from that very nice and quiet.

Thank you for your feed back about the cottage. Delighted that you enjoyed the cottage and the weather was fabulous for you to enjoy the area. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic cottage, large yet comfy, with great off-street parking."

The lounge is comfy with a wood burner and a decent TV with smart box & really good internet connection. The kitchen is large and has everything you will need to self-cater. The weather was atrocious for a few days when we visited, so we enjoyed just chilling out in the cottage between storms. Trefin is a small but really nice village, ideally located for Fishguard, Newport beach and St David. There is a local pub a very short walk away, as is the coast path. Will defiantly visit again, hopefully the weather will allow us to walk the coast path more next time.

Thank you very much for providing us with such positive feedback about the cottage. We're delighted that you appreciated all the facilities also. We hope to see you in the near future and the weather will be better. Property Owner

  • "This cottage is well located for all of the tourist attractions whether you have an activity-based or sightseeing holiday."

The cottage itself is clean, tidy and the hot tub is a great addition! The village of Trefin is quiet with the local pub a few minutes walk away (which we frequented most nights) serving good food with vegetarian options. The owners are very communicative, easy to deal with and responsive if you need to contact them, as I did about my forgotten Kindle. Would not hesitate to recommend this property.

    - we raised this with owner who will address this. Also net curtains in the main bedroom which gives straight onto the street would be a good idea. We found the heating system unfathomable (no instructions at all) but an excellent woodburner!

Thank you for your feedback about our cottage. We have now had a extractor fan installed in the shower room. Property Owner

We walked so much of the coast line, relaxed in the hot tub, saw so much wildlife and just had the best time. A great place for really getting away from it all. There's a small pub in the village that now does basic meals (pizza and a meat/veggie other meal as a special each day) and Porthgain is a really lovely 40 minute walk down the coast for food/drink too. Can't recommend it enough.

Warm and cosy. Hot tub would be better described as a 'warm' tub - temperature fixed to 36 degrees, temperature control made inoperable by the owner.

  • "When we first entered the property it looked welcoming, however the cleaning of the light switches, table tops, cutlery, plates, bathroom, windows showed a lack of cleaning."

I cleaned the areas we would use. Also, there are many dead spiders in the webs- previously mentioned in comments book; finger marks and general greasiness on furniture- which shows no cleaning especially in covid times. Therefore we won't be using the hot-tub as we are unsure if it safe to do so. Cottage is very tired, needing work done, and we are not comfortable staying here.

  • "What really let this cottage down was the hot tub, it really was only a lukewarm tub, the temperature was set at 34 degrees, with the weather being unseasonal during our stay once the lid was off the temperature In the tub wasn’t anything near ‘hot’."

The owners had covered the settings and the only buttons you could press were for bubbles and lights! Also the heating was on timer with notices not allowing you to touch the boiler, during the day with the stone flooring and no sunlight in the kitchen and master bedroom it was very chilly. The kitchen was very well equipped and shower very hot. Good location for coastal walks.

  • "We arrived after a 6 hour journey to find there was no welcome pack , and no directions to the nearest shop obviously displayed in the kitchen."

So no cup of tea before we had to go out. The duvet covers were thin, old and lumpy( I was was wishing I had brought my own. ) The heating was on timed , even though day time temperatures didn’t get much above 10 degrees. When I rang up the person was very helpful, and said he would change it, but this not what you want to have to sort when away. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. It would not take much to bring it up to an acceptable standard.

Nearby Whitesands Bay is one of the many beautiful beaches in the area, and walkers will delight in the spectacular views from the coastal path which runs around the complete coastline of Pembrokeshire. Local buses will help with your walking plans, so that you can walk several stretches of the path with totally different landscapes and views each day.
