  • “A wonderful week!”

Up until last year, we had a campervan. Then we sold it. (sob, sob.) We really felt that we had missed out on our trips away, but neither of us are hotel kind of people. We much prefer our own space, plus we had the dog. A couple of weeks ago, we found The Bakehouse. A self contained, dog friendly apartment. We booked it there and then. We have just returned from the most relaxing weeks break. The accommodation, was clean, tidy, and a nice touch was the milk in the fridge and a packet of Welsh Cakes, so thoughtful, and just what you want after a three and a half hour drive! The apartment was well stocked with everything you could need, and it really did feel rather homely! It is right in the middle of St Davids, well placed for coastal walks, pub lunches and some wonderful art galleries. The place was toasty warm, even on chilly mornings, and the bed quite comfortable. We both slept very well! Storm Brian put in an appearance whilst we were there, which did seem to have quite an effect on the electrics, with lights dimming rather dramatically, but we never lost power! We have both said that we would both love to return.....hopefully in the New Year we will be able to.

About the location

The city of St Davids is situated on the far south west coast of Wales. Granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II, it is the smallest city in the UK, with its magnificent cathedral dating back to the 12th century and the ruins of the Bishop's Palace, both wonderful buildings to explore. Situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, St Davids is a delightful place with an array of unique shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery. Nearby Whitesands Bay is one of the many beautiful beaches in the area, and walkers will delight in the spectacular views from the coastal path which runs around the complete coastline of Pembrokeshire. Local buses will help with your walking plans, so that you can walk several stretches of the path with totally different landscapes and views each day. Dolphin spotting from land or from the many boat trips to local islands are a must, and are also perfect for enjoying the wonderful array of birds in their natural habitat. St Davids is the perfect holiday destination, whether you are looking for a quiet relaxing break, wonderful walking, a round of golf, an exploration of magnificent castles or fun-filled days at Oakwood Theme Park, farm parks and much more.
