  • "Lovely, warm and cosy cottage."

We appreciated some of the attention and care that had gone into the decor e.g. the historic photos on the wall of the post office as it had been which gave the cottage a feel of individuality. The information sent to us in advance of our arrival by Susan was both welcoming and helpful including the recent sightings of dolphins of St Ann's Head as was Dave's the local contacts call at the end of the week to check we were OK with the refuse sorting. Our only request would be for were more serving dishes.

Cottage was clean and comfortable. Easy access to the coastal path which is just a 5 minute walk with spectacular views and coves. There are some good restaurants in the nearby towns all within a 15 minute drive

The heating was a bit tricky but resolved as soon as I contacted the owners. Great location if you are looking for a quiet break in South Wales. Highly recommended.

  • "This is a spotlessly clean, character holiday cottage in St Ishmael's."

The parking is a little awkward, especially for 2 cars, but is adequate. The terrace gardens are a little disappointing as you are totally surrounded by fencing and have no view at all. The cottage would be ideal for a couple with 2 children as the children could use the upstairs lounge as a play room, whereas the downstairs lounge would be a little compact for 4 adults. We arrived to find the cottage spotlessly clean but lacking any dishwasher tablets and were not inclined to drive all the way back to Haverfordwest in order to buy some, so it would be nice if a few could be left at the cottage. It would also be good if the kitchen had 3 or 4 pans rather than 2 as this does make cooking a bit difficult. The heating system really needs upgrading to include a room thermostat and an electrically heated towel rail as we arrived on a hot day to find the boiler thrashing away trying to heat the cottage. The only way to control the heater was to turn off the radiators, which we did, but that doesn't stop the boiler thrashing away for hours putting lots of unwanted heat in the house and adding to the climate problem. In the end we turned the boiler off completely. This really needs addressing urgently. My comments are intended to be helpful to the owner and to future guests. We had a wonderful holiday but would not rebook this particular cottage.

  • "I selected this cottage based on its proximity to pub/restaurant within short walking distance."

My 90 year old father accompanied us on this holiday so this was a very important consideration. However on arrival we discovered that the pub was closed down and for sale. This was a huge disappointment. Whilst this is not the fault of the cottage owner, I would not have booked it if I’d known in advance. The courtyard area outside the kitchen was untidy and unwelcoming. The table and chairs were not in a useable state. They were dirty and covered in sap and fallen dead foliage as was the patio area. A second outside seating area was better but needed to be accessed up a flight of steep steps. The kitchen was under equipped for a self catering property with 4 ticks, especially as there was a lack of nearby places to eat out in the evening. There was a lack of good quality utensils and no freezer apart from a tiny compartment at the top of a small fridge. The small single bathroom was downstairs which proved very inconvenient and problematic for my elderly father during the night. The radiator in the dining room seemed to be permanently on with no means to turn it off. The recycling/rubbish disposal instructions were somewhat confusing and could be improved. We were asked to place all bed linen and towels in the laundry bags provided, however we were unable to find any in the property. Parking at the property is a challenge. There isn’t a designated space as such. We had to carefully manoeuvre our car as close as we could to the property to enable other cars to pass freely.

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to hear that you were not happy with some issues during your stay. We have amended the listing regarding the pub being closed but are sorry that you were not aware of this beforehand. The freezer has also been removed; apologies for the error as there has never been a freezer at this property. The property owner has followed up with her housekeeper and gardener regarding the courtyard and lack of utensils and instructions and will ensure these are addressed. The listing does clearly advise that the bathroom is downstairs, which is an advantage for some; sorry that was not the case here. The roadside parking is also designated for 2 cars along the front wall in the lay-by; I am sorry if you found this to be challenging; this has not been raised as an issue before. I do hope you enjoyed your stay in this beautiful area otherwise. Property Owner

This quaint cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The sunny terrace garden with the swing is delightful for an early evening glass of wine and the courtyard out the back is ideal for the dogs as is safe and secluded. The walk down to Monks haven beach from the cottage is also worth doing and the views along the coastal path are stunning. Thank you for a lovely stay - we will be back x

  • "Going on holiday during these uncertain times was a worry but we were kept up to date by both Sykes and the owner."

There were clear instructions of what to do in emails and in the cottage. The caretaker was extremely helpful when we had to contact him. All in all a very good experience in these testing times.

  • "In these uncertain times I went loaded up to the hilt with anti bacterial spray etc."

but I shouldn't have bothered, the cottage was spotless and lots of products to clean with. The cottage was ideally place with lots of beaches within easy reach. It was very clean, the beds were comfy and everything you could need was to hand . Purely personal things, probably due to being a certain age! The sofa was really low and difficult to get out of and the bathroom was on the ground floor and I tripped over the step a couple of times in the dead of night. That said I would return to the cottage and would recommend it to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "Very easy to find in the village."

Unfortunately the village pub was closed although there was activity outside. Grass cutting etc... The cottage was great. The owners have a nice property and we thank you for allowing us to stop there! The village is well located for exploring the area. We loved the real fire at night - so cosy! We would have liked a bigger freezer facility. The front room was lovely however if 4 adults had stopped the 2 single chairs would not have been comfortable for very long!. We would go back again in the future. No doubts about that. We were lucky with the weather. Ruby - our Cocker Spaniel - thought it was a great stay. At the end of a long day she enjoyed laying in front of the fire. We love Pembrokeshire as a place to visit. The cottage is well worth booking. Once again - thank you for allowing us to stop.

Very tastefully renovated. Several outdoor spaces to catch the sun at all times of the day and evening! A great base for exploring Pembrokeshire, including on foot as it is so close to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path! We walked out from the Cottage onto several beautiful circular walks taking in several sections of the stunning Coastal Path.

  • "The Old Post Cottage was a lovely cosy, clean and comfortable place to stay."

It was delightful and provided a good base for us to explore the Pembrokeshire area. It was dog friendly and well thought out. Our only negative comments would be in respect to the yard leading from the kitchen. It was wonderfully secure but rather neglected looking and certainly not attractive enough to sit in. It perhaps looked a little unloved. Fortunately we went out each day due to the good weather and therefore did not have to sit out at the cottage. However, all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Post House and would not hesitate to book it again.

It was thoughtfully appointed without being over cluttered and you felt that you had more than enough space. The weather was not exactly Mediterranean when we were there but we felt very comfortable without having to light fires. The location of St Ishmaels is very handy for the main tourist activities in Pembrokeshire.

  • "We spent a week in the cottage."

It’s by far the cleanest cottage we have stayed at. It’s well maintained too. Beds comfortable (v important) and our daughters loved the extra tv room upstairs. The kitchen has everything you need and the open fire in the downstairs sitting room was cosy. There is a pub 2 mins walk which has a basic menu, but don’t be fooled, the food was delicious. So many wonderful beaches were near by and easy access to the Pembrokeshire coast path. Five stars. And thank you to the owners. You have thought of everything.

  • "This is a really lovely cottage in tip top condition."

It has obviously been newly decorated throughout and all furnishings and content are equally recently renewed. As dog owners we were pleased to have a secure private courtyard although be warned, we could not find a single dog poo bin in St Ishmaels. The village itself is very quiet and has no shop, so a 3 mile trip to the nearest post office/ store at Marloes is required for staples. The Brook Inn, is a nice pub, but dogs are not allowed in the bar. St Ismaels garden centre (10 minute walk from cottage) has a great Cafe, great for Sunday roast In terms of a base for exploring Pembrokeshire, the cottage is on the outskirts of the village on one of the main exit routes and is ideal for quickly exploring nearby towns and villages. Highly recommended are the circular coastal walk starting at Marloes sands National Trust car park (especially if you like Seal's) The walk to Dale via Monks Haven from the cottage is superb, Beach Cafe very good and great value (check the tide tables as this is a walk for low tides only) Pembroke castle for a good history lesson Stackpole Estate including Barafundle bay St Davids Cathederal and St Davids Head are marvellous, stop of at Solva on the way and walk to Gribbins Head If you like the great outdoors and a quiet relaxing break, this is one of the best locations you could wish for

Situated in a quiet village close to lovely beaches ( Broad Haven, Little Haven, Marloes etc) and stunning scenery. The cottage is beautifully decorated with all the comforts of home. There is a welcoming pub about a minutes walk away which serves food of a high standard. The only disapplintment for us was that dogs are only allowed in the pub garden, not inside the pub. An evening stroll down to St Ishmael's Church and Monk Haven is well recommended. We had a thoroughly relaxing week in a beautiful cottage.
