  • "Our stay was lovely."

Peace and quiet as there is no TV or Wi-Fi. We thought we would miss them but we didn’t. The week flew by. It’s so peaceful with walks straight from the house. Milk and Welsh cakes was a lovely touch, with fresh flowers as well. Thank you for a great holiday

Thank you for your positive feedback, good that you had a lovely peaceful holiday. Property Owner

  • "Rhos y Clegryn is an exceptionally secluded Welsh stone cottage which has been sympathetically renovated and extended to provide comfortable sleeping accommodation for 3 adults."

Patchy 3G, together with the absence of TV and WiFi was a positive for us and we felt exceptionally relaxed at the end of our holiday. The owners have really gone the extra mile in dog-friendliness and our 3 dogs loved their stay as much as we did. The Pembrokeshire coastline is stunning and a couple of the beaches are within walking distance of the cottage. A plentiful selection of books and an eclectic selection of CDs made for relaxing evenings and really enabled us to recharge our batteries. Thanks to Mike and Fiona for a very well- managed and beautifully presented holiday let.

Delighted that you and your dogs appreciated the peace and quiet of Rhos y Clegyrn . thank you for your positive feedback. Property Owner

Idyllic isolated cottage It was so quiet we had to train our ears to listen to the stillness, some lovely walks down to the coast and onto the moors , all in all a very relaxing place

  • "The cottage is so cosy, we had the best time."

Enjoying the silence! Only hearing the birds, we were treated to swallows swooping so close to us, a cookoo, a chaffinch nesting with babies also a mouse family in the garden. The owner also left us with Welsh cakes, dog treats and milk plus tea coffee .we actually stayed at the cottage in the day, rather than go out, it was so relaxing just enjoying the sunshine in the garden. The lane leading to the cottage was so pretty. All in all we had a very enjoyable week and were sorry to leave.

Thank you for this lovely feedback. So glad you appreciated the special nature of this beautiful place. The new mattress arrives on 29th June. Property Owner

  • "We found the cottage extremely cold , we used all firewood we could lay our hands on to light the fire, unable to access more from store because difficulty with key."

Forced to use electric blanket because of coldness in bedroom which made bedding damp. Generally the cottage was well equipped and dog friendly. Very remote but owner was very helpful in guiding us to the property.

There was a good supply of firewood and kindling to start you off, as is usual. Replacements are available at the local garages. The logs in the shed have not yet been sufficiently seasoned, as required by DEFRA, and neither have they been cut small enough for the stove. I am surprised that you had trouble with the shed key; I have checked and it works although the door itself is a little stiff at ground level. The log store is at the back of the cottage, just beyond the dustbin, behind the bathroom; it is completely open. Airing the bed before making it up in the morning usually prevents retention of body heat & moisture acquired overnight. Property Owner

The cottage is cosy and comfortable, and the king-sized bed is nice and soft - which I particularly appreciated. If the weather turns cool and damp there's a lovely log fire that quickly warms the place up. We were grateful for the well equipped kitchen, and the rustic dining table upon which we ate most of our evening meals. Idyllic!

Beautiful tradition cottage, perfect for couples or people who just want to relax and unwind. Fiona is a very attentive host and made us feel very welcome.

Thank you for your feedback; we will take another look at our cleaning schedule, also check on the over -all comfort. Without wi-fi and tv we cannot really extend the facilities, unless we exchange the washing machine for a dishwasher? We will ask some of our regular guests how they'd feel with the substitution. Weather very kind, perfect for kicking back in the garden, rejoicing in the bird life and nature. Woollen mill 5 minutes down the road serving good coffee then a lovely stroll from there to the beach at Abermawr. Second time at this cottage and as enjoyable as the first.

  • "The cottage is actually much better than the photos!"

Access is via a beautiful, narrow, country lane and the cottage itself is secluded and extremely quiet. I don't think we heard a car, or another vehicle, all week! Everything was very clean when we arrived. We had not been to Pembrokeshire before but we will be returning...probably to re-stay at this cottage - because there is some fantastic scenery and great walks in the area. And finally, for any bird lovers, on the bird feeder (situated perfectly in the front garden), we enjoyed long daily encounters with jays, woodpeckers and lots of little songbirds.

Good base for exploring Pembrokeshire and we would definitely visit again. Our only criticism would be that the furniture in the cottage is really uncomfortable but as we were out and about most of the time that wasn't really much of an issue.

  • "When we went to bed on the first night the bed, pillows and duvet were so damp they felt wet."

There was black mould on the walls in tje bedroom and in the single bedroom. Also behind the toilet as well. The walls were so wet in the bedroom when you wiped your hands down the wall its covered in white emulsion. There also is no underfloor heating inthe bedroom, in fact it was jit and miss in all the cottage.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that the property did not meet up to your expectations on this occasion; I can see you have been before. Due to the age of the stone walls, they can suffer from slight damp, but we did not find them to be wet when we visited after your stay. We did find a small bit of mould which is being treated. We do provide a stove and underfloor heating but no longer advertise this. I hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise. Property Owner

Probably our best Sykes cottage yet! The cottage is very well equipped -and we appreciated the doggie friendliness, including the futon which my old dog was very happy to claim as his bed! Our only comment would be that the sitting room furniture really isn't very comfortable - we 3 are average height people so usually find most furniture comfortable. Also, any chance of a shower? But, I repeat, we shall certainly hope to book the cottage again.
