  • “Spacious, rural cottage with beautiful surroundings and welcoming owners.”

The welcoming owners of this old country rectory went out of their way to ensure that our family of four adults were kept warm and cosy during the worst snow and coldest weather for many years. The welcoming owners of this old country rectory went out of their way to ensure that our family of four adults were kept warm and cosy during the worst snow and coldest weather for many years. However, due to the configuration of the properties we remained totally self-contained and private. The house is nicely furnished with a lovely cottage feel but still very spacious with lots of storage facilities. The large, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen plus good Wi-Fi and satellite TV ensured we had a relaxing break. Spring flowers in every room were an additional bonus, as well as the milk, tea, coffee and sugar waiting for us. We were even provided with more milk later in the week when we let slip we had run out! There are lots of board games, books and novels to keep visitors amused and the map room provides a great deal of information about the local area as well as providing a separate room for those who may want to work or play on their lap-tops whilst others are in the main sitting room. This would also make a wonderful playroom for children. The location is fantastic with wonderful walks close by. We enjoyed several good meals at the local pub, just a short walk away. Their home-made pies are definitely recommended! From the many close local attractions, we chose to visit Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat, Ross-on -Wye, Chepstow, Newport Wetlands and Tredegar House. We were also able to use the cottage to entertain family who live nearby in Newport and Cheltenham. We hope to return soon and enjoy the hot tub!

Set over three floors, the property comes in an excellent location for groups of friends and family to come together and enjoy a countryside break.

The access to the very secluded garden and cottage is from the lane through the neighbour’s garden.

Step down towards the cottage and enter the porch area where you have plenty of space to kick off your muddy boots after a long day of walking through the dramatic Wye Valley.

The living areas come on the first and second floors of The Mews House, the original wooden floorboards give off a real rustic, country cottage feel.

Take your pick of rooms to sit and relax at, with the main sitting room offering plenty of comfortable sofas and a FreeSat TV.

Alternatively there is the 'Map Room', with seating and a range of maps and information about the local area to help plan your next adventure.

This floor also boasts a classy family bathroom with a separate shower as well as a stylish, well-equipped kitchen/diner with plenty of seating for everybody to enjoy mealtimes together.

Head up to the second floor to get your much-needed rest, here you will find a charming twin room with a reclining sofa, there is also two alluring super king-size bedrooms, both these rooms can be set as two full size twin beds if required.

With views towards the beautifully kept garden.

Outside you can enjoy outdoor living all year round under the large covered area, here you can relax and partake in some alfresco dinning or indulge yourself in the hot tub.

Just a short walk from the property is a well-respected food pub, the village is surrounded by incredible scenery.
