  • "This lodge was very clean and tidy."

No. Problems at all. Stayed in this lodge five years. Probably changed ownership. Lovely hot weather. Chose the right week to stay. W T Walker (William)

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the lodge."

Both of us suffer with some mobility issues so it was a chance we took to book something that was not classified as suitable for disabled. My husband had his Zimmer frame with him and the living area was roomy enough for him to get around easily, no need to move any furniture. We had no car but family living close so we were taken out every day. Shame weather was not nicer as it would have been nice to have sat on the balcony to enjoy the view.

Surrounded by nature, we could sit on the verhanda on an evening listening to the birds. It was very well maintained by Steve who was on call if we needed anything. Very comfortable, clean, tidy and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Fabulous lodge and we enjoyed our stay there immensely."

Lodge was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. Lovely view from the verandah and very peaceful. Only thing missing was a washing line and a parasol would be good for the verandah on sunny mornings. Otherwise perfect!

  • "On first impressions the lodge looked very clean, however, there were areas of concern particularly in the current climate, there were quite a few crumbs in the kitchen area."

The fridge and freezer had not been thoroughly cleaned and there were crumbs and remnants of food in both. There is a box to put shoes in and behind it the skirting board was very dirty. When we stripped the beds on leaving there was a very nasty stain on one of the single duvets. There was a thick line of dust on the picture in the main bedroom and skirting boards were dirty. There was a lack of attention to detail. All three mattresses in the property were very uncomfortable and we could feel the springs we both found it difficult to sleep on them. There was a line of grease around the hob. One of the dishes were dirty looked like porridge even though the note said everything had been washed in dishwasher. The general standard of cleanliness needs a little more attention particularly due to the increase in cleaning time we would expect the place to be spotless. The seating area was pleasant and comfortable, we appreciated having sky, the kitchen was well equipped. We appreciated the welcome pack. We also appreciated that they had used an anti covid fog machine prior to our visit.

Thank you for your comments. If we had been made aware of any issues during your stay we would have happily been able to rectify them for you to make your stay more enjoyable, it is a shame we didn't get the opportunity to do this. The beds are high quality memory foam, and while I appreciate this is not to everyone's taste, it is disappointing to hear that it didn't suit your party requirements. Over all we hope you enjoyed your stay at Lodge 66 and look forward to seeing you again soon. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful lodge located in a tranquil area of Pembrokeshire."

Facilities were above expectation, but sadly the cleanliness let the holiday down. The arrival time has become later so that the cleaner(s) now have 7 hours to clean the lodge but due to the current pandemic we didn't feel enough care and attention had been given to the overall cleanliness and in places it was dirty as some areas had definitely not seen any cleaning products especially anti-bacterial ones for a long time ☹ We don't expect to arrive at our holiday destination and spend the first hour spraying Dettol anti-bac and Zoflora disinfectant spray (which we had brought with us) on all the surfaces which were unclean and then had to clean both bathrooms and go in each room looking for anything else wbich had been forgotten about. The lodge itself is beautifully decorated and is fully equipped with everything you need so it was a huge shame for the cleanliness to be so poor.

Thank you for your feedback. The owner is disheartened to read your comments as the property was fully cleaned to a very high Covid standard and was fogged. The fog leaves a residue over surfaces and this is what you found, not dust, this could have been clarified in a phone call to the owner or the local office to save you the job of feeling you needed to re clean. We are sorry this happened and it is regretful you didn't contact us so we could have put your mind at rest. The office is contactable 24/7 for such queries and would have happily assisted and clarified the cleaning regime had we been aware. Over all we hope this didn't spoil your time at Lodge 66 and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Lodge 66 Heritage Park."

A lovely modern, contemporary lodge in a peaceful setting. Ideal location for walking and leaving car behind. Have enjoyed numerous holidays here, staying in various lodges. Only negative - bed mattress well worn and very uncomfortable. Master bedroom would benefit from a window blind, as window overlooks parking bays and outside lamp, letting in too much light through curtains. The welcome pack adds a nice touch.

Thank you for your comments. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday. The mattress was purchased brand new less than a month before your stay. We appreciate that everyone has different preferences when it comes to mattresses but are sorry that you felt it was worn and uncomfortable. Property Owner

About the location

STEPASIDE

Amroth 1 mile; Saundersfoot 4 miles; Tenby 6.5 miles; Narberth 7 miles; Pembroke 10.8 miles.

Once home to both coal and iron mines, Stepaside is now a holiday hamlet with a few houses pubs and restaurants. This valley was a hive of industrial activity from the 14th to the 19th century as it was an integral part of the Pembrokeshire coal field. It’s hard to imagine that now, as very little remains apart from the old ironworks at Stepaside and the railway tunnels between Wisemans Bridge and Saundersfoot. There were 12 collieries working in this area at its heyday. The whole of Pembrokeshire beckons with the harbour and seaside resorts of Amroth just 15 minutes’ walk away, Tenby and Saundersfoot close by, visit secluded sandy beaches, such as the acclaimed Barafundle Bay for a quiet relaxing day, or take in an invigorating walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast National Path. Enjoy a boat trip to Caldey Island and its monastery, or to Skomer, which is renowned for its puffins. For the most adventurous, extreme watersports await, whilst golfers can take the challenge of Tenby's famous links course. The nearby town of Narberth is a delight to discover with its many individual shops, including upmarket boutiques, specialist deli grocers and unique gift shops, and a wide choice of restaurants, bistros and pubs can be found in and around the town. Queen's Hall, Narberth's leading cultural and arts venue hosts a variety of concerts, plays and events, which can be enjoyed throughout the year. A perfect holiday base at any time of year.
