  • "We had a lovely holiday in Wales."

The cottage was very comfortable even though it was pretty cold outside. The log burner was a must as it kept us warm in the evenings. The kitchen was small but very well equipped and easy to use with all the essentials provided and in good condition. The garden was super secure for our dogs which was a big plus. The location was very peaceful and quiet. It was easy to get into Fishguard and surrounding areas. The owner next door was very friendly and kind.

  • "Lovely little cottage, attractively furnished."

Had everything we needed. It has a wood burner, and a nice outdoor seating area. Owner was very welcoming. There was lots of info provided on places to go, and restaurants recommended etc. It was easy to walk the dog from the cottage down paths to Goodwick beach. The walk to Fishguard is only 25 minutes (but uphill and not lit so we chose to drive in the evenings.)

  • "The cottage was really cosy, nicely decorated and located in a quiet country area outside of Fishguard itself, although it only took us about 25 mins to walk to the pub in Fishguard (the Royal Oak for the pub quiz on the Thursday night of our stay, where we were welcomed nicely!"

). We arrived and let ourselves in from the key box, but met the owner later in the week, who was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was really well equipped, plenty of plates, cultery etc and the double bed was very comfortable (didn't use the singles as just 2 of us!) The garden was a lovely place to relax after a day on the beach, and we spent some time just enjoying the sun and a glass of wine out there. The only couple of things (which we did let the owner know) was that the oven didn't seem to be working properly(hopefully not our ineptitude), but it didn't cause us much bother. The scenery around Fishguard is beautiful, and was easily accessed from the lane running past the cottage, which would into a footpath and took you across the main road and down to the old town and harbour area. There is also a fantastic cafe there serving excellent food, hot drinks etc and we could sit outside with the dogs, which was marvellous, would recommend. It was easy to access the rest of Pembrokeshire and indeed, we ventured to Cardigan as well, all within about 40 mins drive max - very accessible. Food at the Royal Oak was also good 'pub grub' and reasonably priced (at least compared to Bristol). Overall a lovely week at Cwmbrandy Cottage, would recommend.

Spiders did rule, but I expected that to where we were situated It was incredibly quiet, which was good for chilling Sign for cottage was overgrown

  • "Property is in an isolated location at a junction of footpaths along a rough track."

It's fine if you like walking and have a fairly robust vehicle. However if you have mobility problems or a low slung sports car it would cause problems. Strongly feel that the properties location and isolated nature should be highlighted at the time of booking. It may be that some people will enjoy the quiet and the dark nights and could become a positive marketing feature in some instances.

  • "We enjoyed our stay!"

Great location for lots of nice walks, with Fishguard and it’s amenities only a very short drive away. Layout of the cottage is really nice and it was lovely to have the log burner on and cosy. Only downside is that some of the basics we expected based on other stays (whether Sykes, booking.com or Airbnb) were lacking. For example no hand wash in the property, or kitchen roll. I had done an ‘essentials’ and food shop etc prior so that I wouldn’t have to spend any of my trip going shopping but sadly had to go get these basics plus a few others which was frustrating. (Maybe we have just been too spoiled with other properties! ) Overall a lovely stay though and we would recommend to others who enjoy walks :-)

  • "The holiday cottage was really lovely and comfortable, cleanliness was pretty good for a cottage in the countryside."

There was some evidence of previous dog usage but it wasn't horrible, the rug in the lounge was a little bit hairy but that was it. The layout of the cottage was really lovely and it was very cosy in the chilly evenings, the garden was absolutely beautiful for the sunny days we were lucky enough to have and our 2 year old loved playing in it. The cottage was incredibly well equipped, we had everything we needed and the location was absolutely gorgeous, right in the countryside with loads of little walks to do straight from the cottage. The owners next door were so friendly and helpful and we even went to see Steve play in a band at the local pub one evening. We felt really at home and relaxed and Cwmbrandy cottage and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you so much.

  • "This cottage was the perfect "cottage"."

The ideal remote getaway but close enough to Fishguard when you have forgotten the milk! The interior is beautiful and very comfortable with everything you could think of provided. You will need your wellies though to enjoy all the walks, particularly in the rainy season. The cottage is at the end of an un-madeup road so the car will need a bit more ground clearance - best not take your Ferrari!! We had a wonderful Christmas here and would love to return.

  • "The property was lovely and location was very good."

The only downside was the smell of dogs that permeated the house (especially the smell of dog urine in the kitchen when we arrived and the smell of dogs on the sofa and rugs). When we tried to use the hoover my wife came close to suffering an asthma attack and had to open the doors and windows and use her inhaler. It may be worth warning potentially asthmatic visitors if dogs have recently been allowed into the house and on the furniture.

If the guests had contacted us during their stay, we would have been more than happy to have investigated and taken any necessary action. The property is advertised as being pet friendly. Although we can never guarantee that a property has been pet free, we would always advise guests who are allergic to animals, to book a property which does not take pets. Property Owner

Unfortunately, intermittent Wi-Fi and phone signals are both a fact of life in this part of Wales. For mobile phone users, guests can check area connectivity by going on to their phone provider’s website. Property Owner

  • "This is a super little cottage, ideal for anyone wanting a quiet spot but with easy access to Fishguard and north Pembrokeshire coast."

It is also perfect for dog owners with a secure back garden, hard floors throughout the ground floor and access from the door onto bridleways and footpaths for walking. We found it nicely decorated and furnished, really well equipped and everything supplied of a nice quality. We particularly appreciated that rather than take out the book and DVD selection a “quarantine” crate was provided for the former and antiseptic wipes for the latter, meaning it retained its home from home feel. The owner next door is very friendly, approachable and helpful but not at all intrusive. There are a couple of features of the property that you should be clear about before booking. Firstly, access is via a rough and rather bumpy track for the last 200 metres - nothing an average car can't manage going slowly but don't take your low suspension car. The trade off for this is the amazingly quiet location despite being close to the bypass. Secondly there might be one or two difficulties for those with restricted mobility. There are 4 main rooms in the property and moving from any one to another, or indeed accessing the garden, is always via a few steps. We found our 11 year old rather arthritic retriever had to be coaxed up the steps from kitchen to lounge. Similarly much of the excellent array of cooking equipment in the kitchen is accessed from a corner cupboard requiring bending and stretching in a relatively confined space. This would in no way put us off booking again. We loved it!

The owners are friendly and helpful and have gone to great lengths to ensure that everything is on hand to help with a stay away. The cottage was cosy and comfortable in a very peaceful setting, and the garden area was lovely to sit out in to eat meals and to relax - surrounded by beautiful flowers. It was a great base from which to explore the area and it was easy to get around. Fishguard itself is a quaint little town where you can get all your immediate requirements.
