  • "Cottage is very comfortable and well maintained."

We have been before and would be happy to return: Wi fi reception is poor but not much owner can do about it I guess To be recommended.!

  • "Beautiful cottage, set in the grounds of the hotel, very peaceful and tranquil with the beach a 5 minute drive, had added extras with board games and dvds."

Also arrived to a pint of milk in the fridge, pack of Welsh cakes, tea, coffee and sugar. and the dogs enjoyed the pack of treats left for them

  • "Very clean and well thought out cottage with everything you need to make a comfortable stay."

Pleasant Patios with seating both front and rear of the property. The cottage is well placed for exploring the surrounding area, has good parking and was very peaceful

  • "We were very pleased with our one week stay in Cwtch Carys, and the help and communication with Carys the owner."

The cottage was spotlessly clean, and everything we could possibly need was there, and worked. The surroundings are beautiful, and the view from the front of the hotel breath-taking. We did not eat in the hotel as we hoped we could, due to the very limited "bistro" Menu on offer, but a short drive to the "The Ship" in Aberporth, was a good alternative. We have no hesitation in giving the cottage 5 stars.

  • "This cottage is an amazing find."

Bright, clean and has everything you need. We took our 4 dogs 3 black labs and a bichon and there was enough room for everyone. Dog bowls and treats for them and Welsh cakes and milk for us. Lovely after the long drive. 3 minutes drive downhill to the beach. Based in the grounds of the hotel the views while sitting having a wee drink were amazing. Nice garden front and back at the cottage. Again lovely to sit and have a meal and relax at night. We will definitely be back. 10 out of 10.

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage."

Lovely location near Aberporth and New Quay which we loved. Ideal because of safe environment for our two little dogs We think would be fine for couple with 2 young children but might be a bit cramped for 4 adults. We are certainly looking forward to booking again soon.

  • "What we enjoyed: We enjoyed our stay at the cottage."

It was ideal for a quiet weeks stay for me, my mother and our little dogs. The facilities met all our needs. The inside and outside was clean and well presented. The shower was lovely and heating ideal as it was so cold outdoors during our stay. The little touches like milk in the fridge on arrival and a choice of DVDs (which i added to) and games was a welcome surprise. The small secure outdoor areas at the front and back of the cottage were ideal for our pooches to sniff about safely, it would have been lovely to sit out if it had been warm enough. The cottage was set within the pretty grounds of the hotel surrounded by trees and fields with a stunning view of Aberporth beach. I enjoyed the woodland walks. Overall, a lovely small and cosy place to stay with little dogs, and in my view, within a perfect setting. Thank you! What could be improved: - The mattresses could be of a higher quality to enable a more comfortable night’s sleep, I do however appreciate this is a matter of personal choice. - Regarding the description of the cottage on the Sykes Cottages website, I feel it would be helpful to describe the setting as I believe its a good selling point. I found it frustrating that the write up on Sykes Cottages wasn’t clear about this. Luckily I was delighted with the setting.

  • "The directions to the cottage were inaccurate and misleading They need rewriting, The hot water tap in the shower room was only a trickle of water."

We reported this to the owner who sent a handyman next day. After an inspection he reported that the tap needed replacing! SURELY THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED AT THE START OF THE SEASON! The kitchen lacked pans suitable for cooking for four people. The lounge lighting was inadequate for reading.

Every where we went everyone was friendly and very welcoming of the dog. Hotel near the cottage was lovely and owners friendly and again dogs are welcome even in the restaurant. Had a wonderful time and lots of lovely walks.

  • "This was our second stay and we will stay again."

Great location for the beach and the grounds are lovely - pretty and peaceful. A fence has been added to the front and back since our last stay, which is great as it makes it feel more secluded and your own space. The cottage was spacious enough and very clean but the best thing is how well equipped the kitchen is, which is great for us as we tend to eat in a lot - lots of pots and pans, dishes and ovenware, as well as plenty of cleaning products. There is even a washing machine and powder/pods (I didn't actually use it) and the all important WiFi - great connection ;) There is even a selection of books, DVDs and games for the unfortunate rainy days!

About the location

ABERPORTH

Tresaith 1 mile; Penbryn 3 miles; Llangrannog 5.5 miles; Cardigan 7 miles; Poppit Sands 8.5 miles; New Quay 15 miles.

Aberporth is a small town that sits on the southern edge of Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion, renowned for it's fabulous beaches that attract visitors, all year round. There are two beaches that sit between the rocky headlands of Trecregyn and Fathgarreg, separated by a smaller rocky outcrop. Uniquely, at low tide they interlink, but at high tide, they create individual beaches and create great rock pools for the children to play in and explore. Small boats, canoes, and kayaks can easily be launched from the north beach, while the south beach lends itself beautifully for a spot of sunbathing. Close to the beaches, there is a small seaside café, fish and chip shop, and a friendly pub serving good food and drinks. In the village itself, there is a range of shops and takeaway stores. Nestled directly on the famous Wales Coast Path, between the towns of Cardigan in the south, and Llangrannog and New Quay to the north, it is a great base for exploring this glorious stretch of coastline. Venture to Cardigan and discover the town’s many shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, and bustling markets. Visit the nearby themed farm park, spot dolphins from the coastal path, or take a boat trip for the chance to see them up close! Aberporth is a great base for exploring this wonderful part of West Wales, with something to do for all the family.
