  • "My wife and I were very disappointed with our stay at your cottage in Aldeburgh."

We only stayed 2 out of 4 nights because out of all honesty the accomodation was totally inappropriate for us, both in our 80s. The steep staircase had no hand rail and was lethal especially coming downstairs. The bathroom door opened outwards onto a small landing at the top of the stairs and there was a huge risk of falling back down them - there should have been a safety gate. Surely when you are advertising you should make mention whether it is suitable for elderly people. Additionally, the television was intermittent, dangerous bunk beds sticking out and we both hit our heads severely. The courtyard is dreary and unwelcoming to sit in and the front garden in much need of attention. We are not whingers, but we are very, very disappointed by the lack of space and the dangerous facilities which meant our holiday was cut short.

Thank you for your feedback. We are saddened to hear that you booked a property that was not entirely suited to your needs, and this affected your enjoyment of Aldeburgh. As per the photographs and description, Mariners Cottage has been renovated to a high standard to make the most of the limited seaside cottage space. We do note that the property may not be suited to those with limited mobility, and provide an image of the stairs with no handrail on the website, to ensure guests are aware of the style of property prior to booking. There is also images showing the style of installation of the bunk beds to make the most of the space available, in what is listed as a childs-only bedroom. Our team at Best of Suffolk are always available to discuss properties directly with guests, and will go out of their way to ensure you book one that is suitable to you. We hope that we can find the perfect property for you in future, that is better suited to your needs. We hope to welcome you back to Aldeburgh again. Property Owner

  • "So , lovely small cottage , very clean, well equipt ."

Ideal for short stay, shower small for tall men ! Gubbins under tv , various bits could be tidied up . Lovely little shared courtyard , needed tiding , weeding would make it much more inviting for alfresco dining . The childrens bunk beds, although nicely finished are badly designed , unsafe for young children .

  • "Mariners Cottage was a wonderful holiday home, beautifully furnished, stylish and extremely comfortable."

Enjoyed using the courtyard for outside eating (and meeting the lovely neighbours!). One of the best cottages ever stayed in. Only 5 minutes from the shore, so easy to enjoy 'living' in Aldeburgh and also to walk along the coast in both directions. And a great base for exploring further afield. Loved it! Highly recommended.
