  • "Thank you. We had a wonderful Christmas at Corner Cottage."

It is extremely well equipped and comfortable - we didn’t want to leave.

So pleased you had a wonderful Christmas. We never want to leave either! Property Owner

  • "A very enjoyable and relaxing break in a well equipped, clean cottage situated in a village with a pub within walking distance."

Plenty of walks for our dog. We asked for some more logs for the log burner and they arrived very promptly. The only downside was the noisy road, but the cottage is situated on a junction and does have double glazing. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

  • "Great base to visit some great attractions."

Can recommend the local pub food. Have to be careful crossing the road. Very responsive owner. I recommend it.

Thank you for your super review - yes we love that you can get to coast or more countryside so easily, in Suffolk you are spoilt for choice! You do have to pay a bit of attention to the road, I usually cross on the corner for the best visibility. Property Owner

  • "We had an enjoyable weeks stay at Corner Cottage."

We booked primarily to attend my cousin’s wedding at St Mary’s Church, so perfect location. We were also able to meet up with family staying nearby on short breaks. The cottage was comfortable, clean, well furnished and a very well equipped kitchen. A small issue we had was promptly dealt with. There is lots to do nearby and we enjoyed visiting Orford Ness (must book), Woodbridge, Sutton Hoo and Framlingham Castle. We would definitely recommend.

We're so glad you enjoyed your holiday and hope the wedding was wonderful. Please do stay again! Property Owner

  • "The gas boiler failed towards the end of the week, but we were grateful for the very prompt attention given to this."

Strange there was no hand soap in any of the basins or shower. The lavender in the front garden could do with some attention, stopping the front gate from opening fully. We enjoyed staying at this aptly named Corner Cottage and it was a great base for exploring Suffolk. The local pub was a delight just a few yards away.

Thank you and glad you enjoyed your stay. There should have been hand soap provided in the basins at all 3 sinks, but we don't provide toiletries. We try to keep the lavender under control but have perhaps been too tentative in cutting into the established stems - we have asked Best of Suffolk to send round a gardener to sort that out, so the front gate opens as easily as the side gate/entrance way. • "We have much enjoyed living in Corner Cottage and thank you for the welcome pack."

No rain during our week has been a blessing, along with the sun for the best three days. We have particularly enjoyed visiting Sutton Hoo including a walk through the pine woods with the last bluebells. Also Framlingham Castle, Helmingham Hall gardens & sculptures, Minsmere & its advocets, walking from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness, and finally a happy day out at Southwold - what a church there at St. Edmunds! We wanted to explore and staying here has been a comfortable base.

  • "This is a lovely, cosy holiday cottage which is very well maintained and extremely well equipped."

The owner has thought of everything! All the kitchen equipment is very high quality. I had everything I needed to prepare a full Sunday lunch. The walled patio at the back of the house is a sun trap and secure for children and dogs. There is an outdoor table and chairs with matching cushions and this is a big bonus as it is not mentioned in the description. Communication with the owner was great and they even let us know about the roadworks in Framingham in advance of our visit. The Dennington Queen pub/restaurant is very welcoming, beautifully furnished and serves excellent food. Likewise, the Neathouse cafe on the village green serves lovely coffee and cakes. The location is great as it is about a 30 minute drive to places like Woodbridge, Aldburgh, Dunwich, Southwold and Snape Maltings. Framingham is only a five minute drive away. It has some interesting shops and pubs and a well stocked Co-Op supermarket. We had a lovely week in Corner Cottage and hope to return soon.

Thank you so much and do come back soon! Property Owner

  • "We have had a lovely week in Corner Cottage."

It is probably the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in! It is very cosy & warm and we enjoyed sitting in the 'sun trap' courtyard. It is so convenient for Southwold, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge - all about 30 minutes away. We loved the Dennington Queen both for a drink and excellent meal. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage and hope to return someday.

  • "We had a lovely stay with our daughter, partner and their baby, was particularly good as our other daughter and her family stay round the corner."

Just wee thing not a complaint but could you make sure guests are aware that the keys don’t fit front door you have to go round the back as that flummoxed us when we arrived in the dark. The cottage was really well equipped and warm.

Thank you for the feedback - I will check that the welcome information does explain that you collect the key at the front and then access via the back. Both doors do have light and motion activated sensors...as long as they are left switched on inside! We're so pleased you had a lovely stay - do come again! Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a lovely stay in a well appointed, very clean and most comfortable cottage."

Thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, juice, milk and dog biscuits. Very tastefully furnished period cottage. Helpful information provided before our visit and avaiable at the cottage.. Only 1 oversight...no logs provided for the logburner so needed to buy some as late November and cold evenings. Would happily recommend and make a return stay. Thank you.

I'm sorry for the oversight regarding the logs, the housekeeper should have put some out for you. We provide sufficient for one evening, the supply would probably last for two evenings. Please do tell us next time you stay if you spot something like this missing and we will do our best to remedy this for you during your holiday. I'm sure our housekeeper would have popped back and added the logs to the basket. Thank you for letting us know now. Property Owner

Loved the Dennington Queen, they allow BYO wine "cork fee £5" but we only realised by last nights! Food is sensational *****. Thorpeness, Orbury, Bury St Edmuns & Aylesbury all worth visiting. Weather has been fantastic, so pleased we chose Suffolk!

The property

A little path takes you through a gate and into the courtyard where you’ll find the stable door opening into the large, light, airy and well-equipped kitchen; a great space to prepare meals at home.

You’re sure to enjoy relaxing in the living/dining room beyond, with woodburning stove and generous sofas for cosy evenings.

Originally a bookshop, the additional ground floor room can be used as a bedroom with comfy day bed and en suite shower, or simply as a reading room with memories of a bygone era!

Both the double and twin rooms on the first floor are tastefully furnished, and you&

39;re sure to lay back and unwind in the luxuriously deep slipper bath sitting in the pretty bathroom. Corner Cottage is in a convenient position for exploring the Suffolk coast and countryside or, simply, chilling and making the most of facilities in Dennington with the occasional duck waddling past!

The courtyard is fully enclosed with a high wall, perfectly secure for children and dogs. Ground Floor There are a couple of steps up to the stable door which opens directly into the spacious kitchen, wrapping round and a small step down into the living/dining room.

Doors from here open onto the staircase, the reading room with shower room beyond, and a front door (not generally in use).

Hard flooring runs throughout (quarry tiles in the kitchen, wood in the living/dining room and tiles in the reading room) with rugs to keep you snug. Kitchen A light and airy room with skylights has bags of room and character, particularly in the ornamental fireplace and unusual settle seat.

The chef is sure to appreciate the Classic 90 Rangemaster with five-burner gas hob, electric fan oven, grill and griddle.

All other necessary appliances are housed in the built-in cupboards; under counter fridge, three drawer freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer.

There’s also a microwave, Lavazza coffee machine, kettle and four-slice toaster.

If you have young children there’s a lovely large area where they can play. Living/Dining Room Warm and welcoming, this L shaped room has an extending circular table with six chairs so you can enjoy meals at home.

The living area has two comfy sofas positioned so you can make the most of the warmth from the wood-burning stove and/or choose your favourite soap on the 40” Smart TV, also equipped with a DVD player.

A beautifully carved blanket box sits between two carver chairs and the bookcases are well stocked with reading material and games. Reading Room Originally a bookshop, this wonderfully bright room is ideal for an extra guest with a full-sized day bed which can be made up for you; or simply as an additional room where you can sit with a good book!

There’s a small chest of drawers and some coat hooks.

Concertina blinds give privacy from the road and blackout curtains will stop the light bothering you. Shower Room Conveniently next to the bedroom so, effectively, an en suite, with large shower cubicle, WC, washbasin and clothes dryer hanging from the ceiling so you can dry any laundry you need to do whilst away.

A window gives natural light and there’s a mirrored bathroom cabinet. First Floor A door opens onto carpeted stairs rising to the first floor where doors open to both bedrooms and the bathroom.

There’s hard flooring with rugs and hooks at the bottom of the stairs for your coats. Master Bedroom Double aspect with view of the impressive church.

You’re sure to sleep well in the wrought iron double bed which sits between retro bedside drawers and a pretty little table.

There’s ample space in the built-in wardrobe for hanging your clothes and storing cases. Twin Bedroom An attractive fireplace is a key feature in this room where sturdy twin beds sit by the window with a little chest of drawers and rug between them.

This wardrobe also has bags of space for unpacking. Bathroom Relax and unwind in the luxuriously deep slipper bath with hand shower for hair rinsing!

There’s a petite washbasin with its own towel rail, WC and natural light. Outside There’s a gravel path with some shrubs running around two sides of the cottage and wrought iron fence dividing it from the pavement.

A gate takes you into the courtyard with high wall giving you full privacy from passers-by and a safe place for children and dogs.

There is a table and chairs with a parasol and BBQ to enjoy - perfect for dining alfresco. Parking is available on the lay-by by the property, or alternatively in the pub car park opposite.

About the location

FRAMLINGHAM

Saxmundham 7.5 miles; Aldeburgh 14 miles; Southwold 20 miles

The beautiful market town of Framlingham is mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) and has been known since Anglo Saxon times, when it consisted of several manors which William the Conqueror (1066-1087) presented to Roger Bigod. The town is of particular interest as it has a large castle and mere which was built between 1190 and 1210. The town is surrounded by lovely villages to explore and has two of the oldest working post boxes and one of Britain’s smallest houses, with the footprint measuring 6.1x2.2m! Today, the town offers a number of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and it is also home to Framlingham Summer Arts Festival.
