5 Customer Reviews

  • "There was a general lack of interest in the place."

Limited cooking utensils, just a large frying pan and large saucepan. No mixing bowls, fruit bowl, egg cups, scissors, only 5 knives and 1 wine glass for 6 people etc. The beds squeaked and the bed side table leg was loose. The extractor in 1 of the shower rooms didn't work. There was no reserved parking so had to park on the busy road one night. As limited utensils, it would have been nice to eat in the adjoining pub but they only did pizzas. This is a bit limiting, especially if gluten free, like me. A couple of deck chairs would have been nice. It was a good, quiet location, ideal for visiting EH & NT sites. But the whole place lacked care and attention. After booking I read the reviews left on Booking.com, none of the issues had been addressed.

  • "Wonderful cabin !"

Well located. We had the best holidays! Ideal for a family with kids. Great playground at the back. Close to Newmarket. Lots of footpaths around.❤️

  • "It was a great location and clean and tidy."

Only criticism would be that we only had 3 cups and 2 teaspoons! Also a leaflet to tell us where the recycling and household waste rubbish had to go and what to do about stripping the bedding would have been helpful. A small mounted TV would be a good idea too! Overall we would stay there again.

  • "We thought the property itself was spacious and comfortable."

It was disappointing that there was not a handbook that provided us with information around the use of the heating and the hob. There were only 3 mugs and two teaspoons provided and the kitchen cupboard, hob and cutlery drawer were not clean. The twin bedded room would have benefited from a bedside cabinet, and the lounge area would have benefited from a coffee table. We did enjoy our stay and appreciated the games that were left to enjoy. The lodge was very warm as was the shower. A feedback book to write in would be useful as well.
