The cottage for us, was the quintessential way to start our UK holiday. For us, we where using it as a base to visit the surrounding highlights but the cottage would also be suited to a quiet getaway being located in a very serene setting. Sykes cottages help and added local information provided was welcome for someone not familiar with the area.

Wuthin half an hour of walking in the front door my girlfriend and I had already decided we were coming back. The place was lovely and the owners very nice people. “This is a fantastic holiday cottage, from the outside it is chocolate box beautiful.”

So peaceful set back from the road so no traffic noise. Inside it has every thing you need and more. The furnishings of very good quality and well appointed. The beds are very comfortable, my wife and I had great nights sleep. There is every kitchen utensil that you will ever need, and plenty of crockery and cutlery. There is every a very high quality (so not dish washer safe) dinner and tea service. If you stay with children there is many outdoor, including an Wendy house and table tennis table and indoor board games, along with a large number of DVDs. The log burner in the lounge makes for a cosy evenings when it is cold outside. Logs are provide by the owners Colin and Carol, who live just across the lane. They are very welcoming and very accommodating without being intrusive to you holiday. We had a wonderful break in Faith Cottage and really highly recommend the whole experience. “Holiday cottage”

We are just returning from an amazing 2 weeks at Faith COTTAGE. Not only does it look beautiful but inside it is so well equipped. Carol and Colin have spent a long time making this cottage so special for our holidays. Everywhere you look there are fields and lovely views. Perhaps one thing I should mention that we needed to go out in the car every day as the nearest pub and shop were about 1.5 miles away . However there were great places to visit...Lavenham, Suffolk Owl Sanctuary with crazy golf, Bury St Edmunds itself, Ipswich, Norwich, Banham Zoo, Kentwell Hall and Gardens and so on....... But you will thoroughly feel at home at Faith COTTAGE. THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED.

“Faith Cottage has everything you would want in a holiday cottage.”

A charming, thatched cottage with a lovely big garden, every home comfort and the personal touches from the owners welcoming us to the cottage were the icing on the cake! A lovely quiet location too but a good base from which to explore the local area. The stairs are steep due to the history of the cottage, so not for everyone, but perfect for our family (children aged 7 and 9) and we can see ourselves coming back! Thank you Colin and Carol!

“We had been looking forward to staying in Faith Cottage for several months, since making our booking, but had not anticipated the extent to which our hosts would go to make our stay so pleasant!”

Although the nearby roads were not so good for long walks (narrow, boring and at times dangerous), Faith Cottage is well situated for visiting B st E and many fascinating old villages. Check out the old house beside Cockfield parish church! We also enjoyed meals in both pubs in Hesset (great chips in the Bear!), as well as Hartest.

“Lovely cottage in a lovely location.”

Owners friendly and welcoming. Lots of good things as welcome from fresh flowers to wine, cake, tea and milk. Weather was great so we loved sitting in the garden, but plenty of comfort indoors to snuggle if the weather had been bad. We will be back.

“The reason we would not re book this cottage again - The kitchen was cold, underfloor heating didn't work.”

The bathroom was also uncomfortably cold. Ran out of hot water so couldnt have a shower. Towels provided were of very poor quality. Beds in the twin bedded room were very uncomfortable due to the quality of the mattresses. The springs in both mattresses could be felt.

“Lovely, cosy cottage, and a very enjoyable break.”

We were greeted by the owners, who were lovely and showed us around. There was everything you need for a short break away, they even left us a bowl of fruit, sweets, milk and a bottle of wine for us to enjoy which was a nice surprise, and fresh flowers in all of the rooms. The house is quite cold in the winter, but the wood burner made it nice and cosy in the evenings.

“Perfect location to put us close to our two daughters living in the area, however Faith Cottage far exceeded our expectations.”

Even in the autumn the gardens and views were stunning and the exceptional little touches, flowers, sweets, fruit etc made us feel very welcome. The furnishings are in keeping, lovely deep roll top bath, walk in shower, log burners and comfy beds all make this a very desirable holiday home.

“This cottage is superbly beautiful; the owner worked for a year and a half getting it into shape for lodgers.”

Colin and his wife Carol do everything to please their guests. Fresh flowers, a warm welcome message, several breakfast items - none of this is standard procedure but it was certainly pleasant and useful for us. The cottage was spotless, the beds comfortable, the kitchen had everything (our "cook" was very happy indeed with all that was at his disposal), the surrounding nature (Bradfield Woods NR a few minutes away on foot) most agreeable (for a birdwatcher like me). Bury St Edmunds is not far, with supermarkets and several places to visit including beautiful Abbey Gardens.

“WE really loved the cottage and the very friendly and welcoming owners.”

We were greeted with a table set for afternoon tea, which included delicious homemade scones, clotted cream and jam along with a large bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine, milk and other necessities (unlike the other cottages we stayed in that didn't include any of these items). The cottage was even more charming than in the photos and the surrounding garden was serene and beautiful. The cottage was very close to Bury St. Edmunds and the historic village of Lavenham and had quick access to the A14 so it was easy to get around and close to lots of amenities and Suffolk attractions. The most wonderful part was the cottage itself, originating from the fifteenth century yet equipped with all the modern conveniences while maintaining its historic atmosphere. Lots of wildlife and numerous varieties of birds to be seen in the garden which was surrounded by serene farmlands and mature trees and shrubs. I highly recommend this cottage and its owners who were excellent hosts in every way.

“Beautiful cottage”

Such a lovely cottage with great charm and character. Colin and Carol are very friendly and welcoming they have both done a brilliant job renovating this cottage and it's definitely paid off. We both had a relaxing week here unwinding after a busy life style. This property is a great location to explore suffolk and the local attractions like Anglesey Abbey, Lode Mill, Bury St Edmund's and Sudbury.

What an amazing place!! Faith Cottage is absolutely beautiful. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere and the WOW factor throughout. It has been lovingly restored to an extremely high standard by the owners, Carol and Colin, and it was a real privilege to stay there. They gave us a very warm welcome and it was a lovely surprise to have the table laid with scones and jam and all we needed to begin our holiday without rushing out to the shops for basic provisions. Every single part of this cottage is beautiful...it was a joy discovering each room with all the character and querks... yet still very practical and well equipped. I particularly enjoyed my long soak in the roll top bath, which made for a luxurious and relaxing evening after our journey over. It had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend away. I would highly recommend this Cottage, and we will definitely be going back!

This was everything we hoped for in a country cottage experience. We were made very welcome by the owners who had set out tea and scones for us. They lived near by and topped our wood up when needed. Watch your head on the staircase!

“Outstanding relaxing and homely cottage.”

The hosts are very welcoming on arrival and so are the little touches that they provide, especially the cream tea. The cottage is beautifully restored and very comfortable. Home from home. The cottage has ecellent facilities with all the equipment you would find in your home. The gardens are delightful. The cottage is situated for days out and about not far from a variety of attractions. All in all a fabulous place to have a realaxing stay.

“Well worth a visit”

My husband, two friends and myself stayed here in May 2009 but have never forgotten our visit to Faith Cottage it was so wonderful. The cottage looked so pretty on Sykes' website and didn't disappoint in the slightest. The owners couldn't have done more to make you feel at home, there were too many little touches to mention which you don't often find in rented cottages. If we ever get down that way again we would love to make a return visit and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a holiday in the area.

“Excellent accomodation, all you could ask for .”

The cottage was fully stocked with high quality utensils, linen, crockery etc., a warm welcome from the owners Carol and Colin. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was very peaceful, but was within 20 - 40 mins of easy driving to Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Sudbury. and more. The 4 of us had a very enjoyable stay.

“A beautiful country cottage, a charming Suffolk hideaway”

Carol and Colin are wonderful hosts and they've done a great job fulfilling their personal dream of repairing and fitting out Faith Cottage. It is beautifully appointed with quality furnishings, appliances and loving touches, It is comfortable, cozy and charming. Colin tells a great history of the place and his pride in his work is evident. The cottage is surrounded by very nice landscaping and farmer's fields. Like any centuries old house it has its quirks. If you're handicapped in any way, be careful. The bedrooms are up a steep staircase and the bath is downstairs. However, there is a convertible sofa on the ground floor that avoids the stair issue. We enjoyed our stay very much and would do it again in a minute.

The large garden offers views over glorious Suffolk countryside whilst one of the oldest woodlands in England rests on the edge of the property's perimeter, ideal for a peaceful evening stroll.

The peaceful village of Felsham provides home to a good local shop, a lovely village pub and a beautiful church dating back to the 15th Century. The surrounding villages boast a wealth of architecture spanning the decades and include Ickworth House, built by the eccentric 4th Earl of Bristol and Melford Hall, a turreted Tudor mansion once visited by Elizabeth I. The small medieval town of Lavenham is well worth a visit, with its stunning Tudor buildings and local history museum, whilst nearby Bury St. Edmunds provides a good range of pubs and restaurants, as well as a choice of museums, parks and a stunning Cathedral.
