  • "Actual property was very well done and had a great layout."

    Lots of space, great view, great location, highly recommended. There were some minor issues: Wrong key safe identified to pick up keys. No details on how to separate rubbish or use bins correctly. Two bathrooms had towel rail heaters that were separate from the central heating and would run continuously, which was not needed on hot days. These had to be turned off independently and no instructions were provided.

  • "Pier House is in a lovely position with beautiful views of Southwold; from the balcony you can see the sea and from the back you overlook the rooftops and countryside beyond."

    It’s in a great location for Southwold itself with everything within easy walking distance. The apartment has roomy living spaces and a lovely light filled atmosphere. The bedrooms are smaller but fine. The shower room by the bunk bedroom is particularly small. At first sight we were very pleased but while settling in we realised that actually the apartment was not as clean as we had thought- the kitchen sides were very greasy and the oven was very dirty.The mezzanine floor was particularly dusty and didn’t look freshly cleaned. I set to clean but then saw there was no cleaning equipment-which we found unusual in a holiday home. There was a tiny amount of washing up liquid but no dishcloths, no bin bags no sprays, no vacuum cleaner, no mop. There was only one tea towel. We were also surprised that there was no tea, coffee or milk at all- the wine and biscuits were a nice touch but in every other holiday home we have stayed there have been better facilities including games, books etc- we felt these would be a good addition to help make visitors’ stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Despite these niggles we enjoyed our stay in Suffolk and would certainly return but sadly to different accommodation.

  • "This property was fabulous - we even bought some of the Rye penguins which were in the property and the pottery would like to express their thanks for (a) buying their products including the lamp (b) having such amazing taste that myself as a holiday let contacted them to buy."

    The week we had was fantastic - the neighbour was extremely friendly and we had a couple of lovely chats with her. Faultless

  • "This is our third stay."

    We have previously mentioned the poor 4’6” double bed, this is had to understand for a premium property and will prevent us from returning, my husband slept in the bunk bed each night. On previous visits there have been White Company toiletries, they were absent this time and although of very small cost it is mean spirited not to offer them. Lights were flickering in the hallway and bathroom which is disturbing and we saw in the comments book that this had been mentioned before. You need to improve if we are to use Best of Suffolk/Sykes again Jane HENTY.

    Thank you for your comments, feedback is always helpful. We have decided to replace the bed in the master bedroom with a king sized one and this is on order. The property spec will be updated when it arrives. The offending light bulbs have been replaced. Property Owner

  • "An amazing property we spent hours sitting on the balcony."

    The fittings and attention to detail were great. However the sofa was far too soft. The lights in the hall kept flashing and there was no salt or rinse aid in the dishwasher. Also no kitchen scales. But these are minor niggles and did not detract from a wonderful holiday. We would happily return there again.

  • "The property is light and spacious with great views from the top floor."

    Had everything we needed. However the sofa though looks great is actually very worn and uncomfortable the seats sag very badly. We found the bed rather small but this was probably personal taste are we prefer a larger bed. We will definitely return to Southwold, but due to the comfort problem not to Pier View unless the sofa is replaced.

  • "The property is great with amazing views and the lounge areas gave great space for adults and children."

    This was our second visit at the same time as last year. There are some aspects that could be improved such as having a microwave in the kitchen especially with children, the small shower room/toilet extract fan was very noisy so needs replacing, the dishwasher didn't always clean cups fully leaving tea stains so needed to be washed up. The flat below also complained about ceiling noise which was simply from a toddler walking around on the hard floor so there wasn't much we could do about it.

  • "Property is generally well maintained."

    The main living space is lovely and filled with light. The mezzanine floor is excellent and comfortable including the sofa. The Sofa in main living area is uncomfortable though and not suitable for someone with a bad back . Main bedroom is a reasonable size and the en-suite is large. There were some problems when we arrived. After an almost 5 hr journey through a storm we arrived unscathed. It was just slow going. However … the storm had caused some issues There was no bedding in the main bedroom. No toilet paper anywhere or toilet cleaner. The toilet in the en-suite apeard to be dirty with limescale. Tried using the toilet brush but needed lime scale remover. The other 2 bathrooms were ok but no toilet paper. There was a message on my mobile about the bedding. I called at least twice but there was no helpful advice and then the office closed. If I had taken the kids with me I’d have phoned the emergency line. Found the what’s app and left a message asking to be contacted and left photos. We provide our own toilet paper and made improvised bedding. In the morning someone got in touch and bedding was provided :) Feels like the lessons learnt here is to have emergency provisions on site so they can give someone instructions on how to access emergency items in case of issues. There was no follow up to check everything was sorted. Except for this feedback request. Property has good views and was otherwise nice to be in. Excellent location.

  • "A lovely property in a very good location, well appointed and with relatively readily available street parking."

    The large balcony is a real bonus, with great views. The extensive living accommodation is first class, however, the small second bedroom with limited storage space and bunk beds (although spacious ones) would not suit all adults. I am sure that we will be back.

  • "The holiday property is fantastic for all of its amenities and views ."

    The only problem we had was the drain on the up stairs shower had a horrible smell coming from it until the last day . So we kept that door shut when we could . Other than that loved the place .

  • "Great location and accomodation."

    Amazing views from both floors. Will definitely look to come and visit again. Only comment/recommendation would be why have the old spot lights not been changed to LED on the first floor? Seems a waste of energy as there are a lot.

Southwold is a seaside town situated along the East Suffolk coast within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and resting between Lowestoft and Ipswich. Southwold is known as the home of Adnams Brewery which was established in the town in 1872 and it also has its own lighthouse, a museum and a picturesque pier which has a selection of colourful beach huts and which plays host to the regular Southwold Model Yacht regatta. The town boasts a number of excellent restaurants and eateries with a particular nod to its seaside location so there is always plenty of seafood and fish on the menu.
