Owners have your best interest at heart and will do anything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The birdwatching was great and seeing the Red Deer was magical. We could not ask for anything more. Wonderful, we just love the area and will be back again next year. Thank you

  • "The owners Terri and Gordon called on us about an hour after we arrived to check everything was ok and emphasised we must let them know if there were any problems."

They were very friendly. Quiet village - Westleton with well stocked shop - closed on Sundays. Also a garage with three fuel pumps. Managed to get £20 of Diesel after they had a delivery. Interesting church.

  • "The Owners, Gordon and Terri were kindness and helpfulness itself."

I was recovering from a heart attack suffered ten days before the holiday and they allowed us to arrive early to give us time to settle in. Gordon carried the suitcases into the bungalow so that neither my wife nor myself had anything to take from the car. The accommodation was second to none and we could not have had a more enjoyable holiday.

Dear Mrs Jenny Martin and Reverend Charles Martin Thank you so kindly for the lovely feedback, very much appreciated. We were delighted to meet you both and we are so pleased you had a terrific week recovering. Wishing you all the very best. God Bless Terri & Gordon Property Owner

  • "This was our third stay at Ferndown which is an excellent property situated in a quiet cul-de-sac yet still close to the village shop and pubs."

It has been freshly decorated throughout by the owners and has a brand new cooker and dishwasher. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable with reclining leather chairs, BT TV and WiFi. The location is ideally situated half way between Southwold and Aldeburgh and is only about 10 minutes down the road from the RSPB's flagship reserve at Minsmere. We would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone interested in walking, nature and birdwatching.

  • "This was our second stay at Ferndown and once again we must congratulate the owners on the high standards they maintain."

Thanks to them also for the wine and chocolates - well appreciated. It's also lovely to have easy parking which is not always the case elsewhere. As to the area, Southwold is excellent and the circular walk from the pier and round the harbour is a must. Walking anywhere around Dunwich or Walberswick is also very pitcturesque and the local pubs are very good. Two of our favourites must be The Eels Foot at Eastbridge and the Bell at Walberswick. Provided we remain healthy we will be back!

The property

Ideally located for touring the stunning Suffolk coast with its wonderful choice of beaches and villages, this cosy bungalow is situated in a peaceful close on the edge of the picturesque village of Westleton.

You will feel at home the moment you enter this ground floor cottage, passing through the hallway which leads to a comfortable sitting room with a stylish inset wall mounted electric fire, ideal for getting cosy after a busy day out and about.

The compact kitchen is well-equipped with everything you should need during your stay, and there is a separate dining room which overlooks the delightful garden.

There are two comfortable bedrooms, a king-size double and a twin, which both share the spacious shower room.

Outside, there is a large enclosed garden, a great place for youngsters to play in safety, and which features a summerhouse, where the adults can sit and relax whilst enjoying a cooling drink.

A short walk will bring you to the quaint village of Westleton, which boasts two pubs, a village store and even a bookshop.

TThis area is within walking distance of RSPB Minsmere and National Trust at Dunwich" instead of a few miles from saxmudham as we feel rspb and national trust Dunwich beach overlooking the sea is much more attractive and important especially as the clients we have been having in the past & present are primarily bird watchers and walkers.

This homely cottage is just six miles from the well-serviced town of Saxmundham and popular places such as Snape Maltings, Framlingham Castle, Orford Castle, Sutton Hoo and Orford Ness, are all within easy reach.

Ferndown is an ideal base for exploring Suffolk and its lovely coastal areas.

About the location

Saxmundham 6 miles; Southwold 9 miles; Aldeburgh 15 miles.

Westleton is an idyllic village near the Suffolk coast, nestled between Southwold and Aldeburg and offers all the attributes you could hope for in a Suffolk village, with a village green complete with pond and ducks. The village is easily accessible from the local train station at Darsham approximately two miles away. The village has a store, a bookshop where you can also enjoy a tea or coffee whilst browsing, an old fashioned garage, as well as two pubs, The White Horse Inn and The Westleton Crown, one of Suffolk’s best traditional inns where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate held their first wedding anniversary. Every August, Westleton hosts the infamous Barrel Rolling Fair where contestants have to roll barrels down the Village Green using a pole, and the men have to roll the barrel back up the hill too. Barrels are supplied and all are welcome to join in! The local Emmerdale Farm Shop and Butchery as well as a tea shop is approximately a mile away. The area is a haven for nature lovers with Westleton Heath National Nature Reserve, Dunwich Forest, Dunwich Beach with its famous fish and chip shop located on the beach, and the RSPB Minsmere, all close by. The town of Saxmundham, 6 miles away, is located on the River Fromus, in the heart of Suffolk’s Heritage Coast and is well serviced with independent shops, supermarkets and a train station, as well as art galleries, a weekly market and a farmers’ market.
