  • "The property looked exactly as the pictures, very nice and comfortable house with modern equipment and environmental friendly energy equipment."

we had a great welcome basket that was well appreciated. Unfortunately we had the fire alarm starting at 2 am in the morning, we could not sleep and to date ( 5 days after) we still waiting a call back from the house contact person. this is really terrible service. we had to ask neighbours a high ladder to desmont the system to ensure we would be able to sleep for the rest of the stay, not what one would expect for the price of the rental.

This was a totally unforeseen situation. The alarms in question were subsequently inspected and appeared to be in order and we are advised that it is apparently unusual for two alarms to sound simultaneously. Whatever the cause we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to our visitors. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage."

Very comfortable and well appointed. Amazing dog walks on doorstep and lovely play ground and football pitches up lane. Walking distance to pub. Sleeps 5.

  • "Great location for our needs as we were on a course at Guildford Uni."

Only one single bed in the twin room, not as listed. Tried to call about this as my daughter wanted to stay one night but not able to contact anyone. Therefore only sleeps 5. Had to wash all glasses, cutlery and crockery on arrival. All grimy and stained, possibly only par-washed in the dishwasher (maybe emptied too early?). This was a terrible start. Arrival pack full of fresh items - thank you, but did not suit our needs so wasted entirely on us. Consider longer lasting items that can be left for other guests if not used perhaps. We found food packaging between cushion covers on chairs, all very obvious and should have been picked up during a routine clean. Stair carpet markers on arrival, perhaps worth noting so that guests are not mistakenly billed for extra cleaning. Suggest also worth noting that car port would not accommodate a large vehicle or van as very narrow parking bay. I am sending this feedback as requested x2 by yourselves, otherwise I would not have complained. However this experience has certainly affected my wish to book again through Sykes. My family holiday in the UK 5-6 times a year and we have had much better accommodation experiences elsewhere, particularly given the considerable cost of this cottage.

These comments are incorrect and misleading. There is accommodation for 6 visitors and no attempt was made to contact us during the four days of the visit, concerning the provision of an additional twin bed. All cleaning was inspected and the Barn was in perfect condition upon handover and the welcome pack is designed to appeal to all visitors. There are 3 normal sized individual undercover parking spaces. The comments made are not representative of the facts - particularly as they are the first adverse response we have received. • "Beautiful property a short walk from Shalford."

Some beautiful countryside walks. Peaceful setting. Well appointed. Would stay again for sure.

  • "Beautiful house and great location."

We very much appreciated the generous hamper on arrival. Check in was very simple, although we lost phone signal and had to guess where the house was and ended up turning into the wrong place down the lane. Luckily there were people at the Manor House driveway entrance that helped give us directions! We very much enjoyed our stay. Thanks again.

  • "This is a lovely cottage with high end fittings and equipment."

Everything we needed for the holiday was provided including a very good welcome hamper. It would have been helpful to have been warned that the lane to the cottage is unmade and at this time of year there are many large potholes so needs to be driven carefully.

  • "Absolutely lovely home in a rural peaceful setting, but only 10 minutes to shops, pubs, and easy access to all the sights."

The property is exactly as it appears in pictures, and located down a long narrow gravel path, thru the woods, in a small tucked in section behind The Great Tangley Manor, with only a handful of houses around it. The home is attached to the next home by one wall but has a seperate yard and entry. Neighbors are lovely to chat with and welcoming. Lots of trails to walk, one leading right into a Vineyard! Two assigned parking spots in an open covered converted barn stall across the road from the house, and fits a large suv. Small fenced yard was perfect for our dog, and lots of places to walk your pet. Daily we would see horses trot by, bunnies, greeted by the neighbors pets, and even saw a few Fox's on our late evening walks. This is the only home that is a rental, others are occupied by full time residents, so if you are looking for a place to have parties, this may not be for you. But if you are looking for a beautiful home in a peaceful setting this is absolutely perfect. The owner was easy to communicate with and the home has a binder with lots of information about the area. We loved it so much we changed our plans and extended our stay. Will add, do try The Snooty Fox, 3-5 Kings Road, Shalford, Guildford for a meal, its right down the road from the house, and our favorite Pub in the area was Jolly Farmer Inn, High Street, Bramley, Guildford, a Free House which means its still locally owned and offers local/small owned beers and Chris the owner is a wealth of history about the area!
