clean and very spacious. Lovely deck looking over the lake. The Crown I in Turners Hill is an excellent pub.
"Everything about Lakeview Miswells Cottage was perfect for us and the hosts were so welcoming and helpful."
"The property is lovely and as described."
Our daughters enjoyed feeding the fish in the evening and the views across the Lake are very relaxing at the end of the day.
There are lots of great places within easy travelling, the gardens at Leonardslee Gardens are stunning and Wakehurst was well worth the visit.
Further afield we also went to Brighton, Littlehampton and West Wittering beach so it really does allow trips to keep the kids entertained. The Crown pub in the village serves really nice food and we particularly enjoyed the Thai meal at Thai time at Forest Row, really delicious.
Linda was also brilliant in putting me in touch with a local florist to organise flowers for my wedding anniversary as well.
"The accommodation was exactly as advertised."
Really nice and clean and a lovely lakeside spot with a balcony overlooking it. Owners were friendly and helpful. Great all round experience.
"We enjoyed the ambience and the beds were very comfortable."
It was sad that we weren't allowed to fast charge our electric car and there was a loud noise at midnight ? a pump of some sort which woke us up on our last night.
There were many good pubs and Wakehurst Place for excellent walking nearby.
"A clean and spacious place with a wonderful view and facilities."
The host was very attentive.
"Stayed at the cottage in October 2020."
Had a lovely week despite the weather. The cottage was warm, comfortable, well equipped and clean. Linda was very helpful and easy to contact. The location is beautiful with plenty of things to do. Also had a fabulous meal in the Crown in Turners Hill. Would stay again thank you.
"Pros: Liked it as a staycation holiday home!"
Spotless clean, Very nice environment and surroundings, nice and helpful host, would love to come back! Cons: The fact that we don't have a car, it's not easy to locate yourself when you called for a taxi as this cottage wasn't on Google map at all. Would suggest adding "Miswells Cottage" to the Google Map :)
"We really enjoyed our week at Lake View."
It is very well placed for visiting Brighton and Eastbourne and for walking in the beautiful Ashdown Forest. The house is comfortable and well equipped and it was a pleasure to spend time there watching the wildlife round the lake.
"Extremely well appointed property."
Lovely view over the lake and very friendly owners.
"A lovely setting and a well equipped and modern, clean and warm place to stay."
A great base to explore the countryside and coast and a nice place to return to at the end of the day.
"We had an amazing holiday."
The accommodation was brilliant and incredibly clean with everything we could possibly need. The host was fantastic and we would recommend to everyone. An incredible setting which was so relaxing and peaceful and a great base for lots of lovely trips out. We cannot thank you enough for a brilliant family holiday.
"We had a lovely stay at Miswells."
The property was comfortable and extremely clean, however the decor and furnishings are in need of an update. I also found the open plan bathroom set up a bit odd!
The thing that made the property for us, was the balcony overlooking the small lake. It was very relaxing to sit there with a drink in hand and watch the world go by. We were even lucky enough to spot a kingfisher on a couple of occasions!
"The details about the cottage should mention the steepness of the stairs leading to the front door."
This was an immaculate and well-equiped cottage (more of a flat really).
"Happy New Year Sykes Holiday Cottages and thank you for facilitating the most amazing family Christmas at Miswells Cottage Lake View."
The mini Holiday at Christmas was truly amazing and we cannot stop thinking about our gorgeous Holiday Home. It was so peaceful and serene (our choice). I almost don't want to share it in case I find it is booked when I want to go there, but I would love to return to this beautiful 'family' home again in the not too distant future. Linda and Barry were superb Hosts and we enjoyed getting to know them over a glass of fizz on Christmas Eve. They were so kind and completely selfless considering that it was Christmas. Each evening they even took the trouble to light up the beautiful lake for us to enjoy the view - it was truly magical. Linda and Barry also decorated the cottage for Christmas, it was so welcoming. I took way to many bits and pieces not knowing the quality that I was going too find. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place and these wonderful people who made our Christmas really special.
[The journey home was not great but this is not something that anyone could have done anything about. We sadly had to cut our holiday short by one day to visit our Bristol family and endured the worst traffic in the history of transport on Friday 27 December 2019. We got caught in the Gatwick and Heathrow and Christmas travelling on the M23 and M24 and am unsure whether there may have been an easier route home]
"What a lovely big, airy flat, very clean and in a lovely location."
Owner very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay, thank you.
Just a couple of points to raise but didn’t affect our stay.
Not too sure it is a particularly child friendly place to say, going up and down the stairs (no stair gate) in the night if the kids needed me (one needs a wee about 3am most nights!) was tough! Both rooms are open to their respective bathrooms so toiletries / chemicals would have to be kept on a high shelf elsewhere if your child was likely to get up and play in the night. (Also not great if you like privacy when on the loo, or if you’re staying with friends, rather than family).
If it was warm outside you would not be able to have the patio doors open on to the terrace as the surround is easily climbed, and is over the lake.
A few light bulbs were not working (vanity mirror and bed side light) but only a slight inconvenience really.
Having stayed whilst it was wet outside, the car parking area was very muddy, meaning we’d have to go out in one pair of shoes (wellies) and change once out. Again, just an inconvenience.
Thank you very much for a lovely stay, would highly recommend.
"This was a very comfortable property in a peaceful location."
We enjoyed the wonderful lake view and the easy chairs to relax in on the patio. It was very well equipped with an excellent pub providing good food nearby.
"Everything was very good and we all really enjoyed ourselves and did not want to leave."
However in the Master bedroom there were 3 lights that did not work and had to rely on one light over the bed, or the lights in the washing area. Also no one liked not having any doors on the washing/toilet area.
We did appreciate the welcome pack. We would recommend the property to others.
"This is by far the most well equipped property we have visited."
The little things like high quality hand wash in all bathrooms made us feel the owners really wanted us to feel at home. A brilliant property for exploring the area.
"Supreme location, wonderful “cottage “ with everything provided that you could possible need."
Added bonus a very large balcony overlooking a very active lake.
"This cottage is a real gem."
Clean, spacious, with all mod cons and a great view of the little lake. We loved watching the squirrels and the birds on the balcony. And pubs within walking distance, what more could you want?
"The equipment in the kitchen was plentiful but the owner needs to check the quality."
We found a couple of broken items that were not essential to us and a frying pan that needed renewing. We left a message for the owner as they were also on holiday.
"We had a lovely time."
The view over the lake was delightful. When the sun shone we sat on the balcony overlooking the lake, relaxing after sightseeing.
The situation was ideal for the places we wanted to visit. Lovely pubs with good food also nearby.
Even the weather was good for the time of year with some sunshine on most days.
For me at 87 years old it was a sentimental journey to the area where I had spent many happy years 60 years ago. Thank you,
"Amazing cottage, fantastic place with plenty to do ."
The perfect place to unwind .gutted we had to leave
"Miswells Cottages is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday."
Everything plus more is available in this spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation. The view, especially from the lounge room and deck is so tranquil and picturesque. Linda and Barry are the perfect hosts who have thought of everything to make your stay the best. Coming from Australia it was great for us to experience the English village hospitality as we walked around the public walkways and enjoyed meals at the two nearby pubs. We hope to be able to return to Miswells Cottages for a longer stay on our next visit to the UK.
"Miswells Cottage made for an excellent holiday experience."
The house is very cosy, beautifully furnished, neat and tidy and very well stocked with everything you might need or want. The views across the lake are a wonderful bonus. The peace and quiet of the vicinity were exactly what we were looking for on our family holiday. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed! Thank you to Linda and team.
"We had a great week at Miswells cottage- Lake view."
The cottage is lovely and we found everything we needed. The view over the lake and the woodlands is so relaxing! Early in the morning we could see squirrels and pheasants from the cottage. And the children enjoyed feeding the fishes!!
The location is great too: many National Trust Houses and gardens near by and easy access to Brighton too.
"The accommodation was first class, everything you could possibly need was provided ."
All the little extras like board games ,books and dvds made it a great place to relax and unwind with our family . We loved feeding the fish each morning and the view onto the lake was beautiful. We will go back again .
"We were greeted by Linda."
She did everything to ensure that the place was ready for us. Thanks for arranging such great weather! We had quite a few visitors and they all were very impressed by the standard of care to make sure it was perfect .
Thank you for everything.
"Magnificent property, every amenity , very very comfortable, really enjoyed our stay there ."
Lovely owner , Linda , lives beside the property, and made us , a group of 4 , feel very welcome.
Cannot praise it highly enough, go there !
"The accommodation was very good and well equipped."
My husband really enjoyed sitting outside on the deck of a morning watching the Heron and the fish.
It is well situated for visiting places of interest - there are many gardens and stately homes near by with Brighton a very short distance away.
I would not recommend this cottage to anyone with problems with steep outside stairs, I've had 2 knee replacements and have arthritis - the rise of the steps is higher than usual. We had to go and ask someone how the towel rail switched on and twice we had no water in the morning - again my Husband had to go and talk to someone. We did not get a welcome pack as per advertised other than a packet of biscuits that ran out at the end of May! Also a pink of milk which went off after 2 days! The garage door makes more than a little noise - it is very noisy in the downstairs bedroom!
Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you were not entirely happy with your stay. My cleaner is going to check with the local shop where she bought your milk and biscuits on Saturday as this has never happened before. We are sorry you thought that the welcome pack was not sufficient.
The boiler issue was addressed as soon as we were made aware but the towel rail had been turned off after a very hot summer as guests requested this due to the bathroom being too warm. We were happy to help your husband turn this back on again. I have also added further notes about the external staircase and am sorry that you found this difficult after your knee replacements. No one has ever mentioned the incline of the stairs before so we had thought the notes to be sufficient. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay otherwise and thank you again for your comments. "Miswells Cottage is in a beautiful scenic location which is very relaxing."
The cottage is very well equipped with beds, bedding, kitchen amenities and truly was a home from home. The Owners are very welcoming and are located nearby should there be any issues.
"Lovely holiday home in beautiful setting."
We found it exceptionally clean and it was well equipped. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Brilliant base for exploring the area with lots to see and do. I would recommend this holiday home and would definitely return again.
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake View, it was indeed a great view!"
A more than comfortable place to stay, perfectly situated to visit the many interesting sights in the near proximity of this 'home from home'.
"We chose Miswells Cottage as the ideal spot for a weeks cycling in the Ashdown Forest area."
On arrival we were thrilled to find such a well equipped beautiful cottage. It was lovely to come home after a days cycling and relax, with a glass of wine, on the veranda overlooking the lake. We watched the Canada Geese goslings grow bigger each day. There were 5 when we arrived and to our amazement 5 when we left. The parents were very conscientious. A truly lovely place which made our holiday even more enjoyable. Thank you to the family.
"The holiday accomodation was a spacious, comfortable and well furnished apartment."
What made our stay here exceptionally memorable was the large balcony overlooking a beautiful lake.
"It was a great flat, the view over the lake was absolutely superb as well!"
Most of the rooms being on one floor suited my mother.
It was very comfortably furnished and I wouldn't hesistate to recommend it to anyone.
The only thing I would mention is that the post code given did not guide me to the right road - there are many roads into Turners Hill which are called Turners Hill Road. Maybe it was my sat nav (Garmin) at fault, but we spent quarter of an hour or so going up and down some roads before getting it right. Go to the centre of the village and take the road downhill past the general stores, and then you come across the garage mentioned in the description. The road then curves round to the right, and the drive way into the property is on the left on that corner. It is rather hidden, so make sure that you aren't going too fast at that stage!
But after that it was great - one of the pubs in the village doesn't do evening food, but the other one, on the crossroads, does, although it's probably worth taking the car rather than walking in from Lake View, the first bit of the journey doesn't have any footpaths - and the evenings were drawing in when we were there and we didn't fancy the walk back in the dark/twilight.
But go for it - and there's plenty of places to visit in the area.
"This was a family holiday."
It was an excellent property, very well equipped to very high standards. I have feather allergies and the bedding was of the highest standard duck down. When I mentioned this to Mr Williams he went out and bought a hypo allergenic duvet for me. The owners overall were wonderful, everything was super. The setting was lovely, overlooking the lake and we would highly recommend this property
"This was a beautifully located holiday home in idyllic surrounds."
The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, making our stay comfortable and hassle free. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here, it's beautiful.
There is a slight noise from the road from time to time but it's not bothersome and only noticeable sometimes.
