  • "The first impression of the property from the outside is very disappointing."

The outside of the caravan looks grubby with vegetation growing out of the gutters and an overgrown side border making it difficult to reach the stairs and door. The veranda is covered in tree debris and impossible to use. Once inside the place was pleasantly clean and tidy, but with very irritating mats everywhere which seemed to be covering the grubby carpet, and they kept scuffing up and causing trip hazards. There was the usual basic utensils in the kitchen, but an addition of bread knife and a second rung in the oven would have been appreciated. We were surprised to find absolutely zero instructions on anything, which would have been helpful on the heating, television (which was held up by two books) rubbish disposal or that the gate boom closed at 7pm and the door key fob opened it. I hate to give negative feedback because the place could have been really lovely with just a bit more care and attention, instead it feels neglected.

  • "Clean and tidy."

Very basic. TV hopeless. Lost signal regularly. Several nights we could not watch any channel. Shower screen had to be lifted to close. “Garden” needs some TLC.

The property

Nestled on the Beauport Holiday Park, in the borough of Hastings is this charming contemporary lodge.

Carefully renovated into a smart and heart-warming retreat ideal for friends and families, the property is an excellent base for touring the coast of Sussex.

Entering the property, be welcomed into an open-plan living space, complete with a large corner sofa and a lovely electric fire to keep you warm during those chillier evenings.

Choose to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal at the dining table which can seat up to four guests; also the perfect spot for enjoying a board game on those quieter evenings.

The contemporary fitted kitchen is sure to inspire you to dust off those cook books and indulge in all the modern appliances on hand.

Towards the rear of the property are three well-presented bedrooms, set up as a double, a twin room and a single, adequately furnished for storing your personal belongings.

The master bedroom benefits from its own en-suite cloakroom, whilst there is a family shower room with deluxe fixtures and fittings.

Throw open the patio doors during the summer months and let the cool breeze wash over the interior, whilst you enjoy a refreshing beverage in the afternoon sun.

Due to the property's close proximity to the bustling seaside town of Hastings, you are well-placed for accessing a number of popular tourist attractions such as Smugglers Adventure, a network of underground tunnels used over 200 years ago with sound effects and costumes.

For a spot of history, the 11th century ruins of Hastings Castle are an excellent choice, or choose to explore Alexandra Park spanning across 44 acres, perfect for your dog to stretch its legs, or get involved with its on-site fishing lake.

Venture towards Hastings Beach, hugely popular for swimming, surfing or simply relaxing on the golden sands.

Lodge is the ultimate choice for a coastal retreat to East Sussex.

About the location

Battle 6 miles; Rye 12 miles.

The large historic town of Hastings offers a great mix of interesting places to visit, and is comprised of three parts, joined by the promenade. On one side is the Old Town, with narrow streets or 'twittens', attractive houses, Shipwreck and Fisherman's museums, wonderful tall black net huts, a fresh fish market, seafood restaurants and cafés. In the middle there is a contemporary shopping centre and on the other side is St Leonards on Sea with its fashionable Norman Road with antique and vintage shops, art galleries, examples of Burton's architecture (of Kew Gardens and London Zoo fame), Marine Court Art Deco flats designed in the shape of the HMS Queen Mary, and the remains of the Amsterdam, which is visible at low tide at Bulverhythe. West Hill in Hastings is home to the Smugglers Adventure and Pelham Beach, and East Hill offers the Hastings Country Park, 660 acres of ancient woodlands, grasslands and heathlands crossing five miles over cliffs and rugged terrain, plus East Hill can also be reached by taking the 'lift', the steepest funicular railway in Britain. Whilst exploring Hastings, visit The Stade and watch fishermen land their catch, plus why not take a trip to Blue Reef Aquarium and the remains of Hastings Castle? Pevensey Castle, dating from the 4th century, and the first Norman Church are twelve miles away. Further afield enjoy the NT properties of Bodiam Castle, Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle, the cinque port of Rye, the abbey at Battle or the beach and dunes at Camber Sands.
