  • "Tobago is retro-heaven with all the comforts of a top-class hotel."

    Our whole experience there from our first contact with Catherine, the friendly owner, to our reluctant departure was excellent.The flat is in a great location on the sea front with easy parking and it has fabulous sea views all round. The decor is wonderful - quirky and huge fun - but also extremely comfortable and clean, with great beds and a stylish kitchen and bathroom. Roanna, the lovely housekeeper, was on hand to answer all questions and solve any potential problems. We will definitely be back next year.

  • "Having had many holiday lets over the years this was the most unclean."

    From the moment we walked through the door we could tell that none of the carpets had been vacuumed as the pile was covered in footprints. If it had been vacuumed only a few footprints would have been visible. The mirrors and glass in the doors were uncleaned with finger marks and smears. The tin opener did not work and the microwave was missing it's rollers meaning it was not useable. The bathroom soap and glass holder brackets look as though they have not been cleaned for several months. The bathroom cabinet was the same. We feel that the top end price we paid none of this should be as it was. This was all disappointing as the apartment is in a lovely position and decorated very well. Definitely needs an inspection before it is let out again

    We are sorry the guests did not enjoy their stay at Tobago; we do the best we can to provide a lovely holiday home, full of character and little luxuries, for people to stay in. The microwave does work my housekeeper checked it after the guests left because they left a note; she had to reposition the trivet inside, and the microwave is now working properly, with the internal plate rotating correctly. We will check this further during a maintenance week. The apartment was hoovered. The apartment is sometimes cleaned by more than one person so if there are more sets of footprints than the guests analysed to be appropriate, this would explain it. We have however purchased a new vacuum cleaner for the apartment as it may simply not be good enough for the carpet it has a deep luxurious pile and is quite new. The guests, as is our policy with two-week stays, were offered a clean halfway through their stay which they declined. We did drop off clean towels for them. We will revisit our cleaning methods it is a large apartment and if previous guests have left it in a particular messy and unclean state it can be a push to give it an extremely detailed clean in the 5 hour turnaround between guests leaving and new guests arriving. The turnaround also includes many other task such as changing beds and many little luxuries which we wanted to provide but which many holiday places, don't such as refilling bathroom dispensers with complementary shampoo, shower gel, soap, and conditioner; refilling teabags, sugar, and Dolce Gusto coffee pods, and providing milk and biscuits so guests can settle in immediately with a cup of tea. It is possible the glass sections of door were missed during the cleaning. If necessary we will more regularly have a two-person team and put one person on glass. Sometimes it is easy for a cleaner to miss things that are normally found when a product is being used, rather than during cleaning. Regarding the tin-opener - we do not test tin-openers after each stay as the only way you can test a tin-opener is to open a tin with it. This would mean wasting food. The very great majority of tins now have a ring-pull. A lot of holiday cottages do not even stock a tin opener anymore. The guests did not call or text Roanna to request a new tin-opener during their two week stay. Most guests, if ever they find something broken or missing will leave a note. I think most guests understand that it is not possible for us to test every utensil and appliance weekly and check all maintenance issues within a 5 hour turnaround window. Property Owner

  • "A most enjoyable experience ."

    .peace and quiet in a beautiful apartment, with great decor !.....unbelievable views over the sea and yet within easy walking distance of DLWP. Whilst we had beautiful sunny weather and were able to sit out on the balcony it would be fantastically snug in rough weather too. Hopefully we'll be back for another break .

    Our stay at Tobago was beautiful. We especially loved the location and the sea views from our bedroom and the warm living room. We loved the 1980s decor and colour and the surroundings. My partner was pleased there was a guitar in the music room as he is a musician and whilst in the lounge and looking out to the view of the scenery he started writing a song which he has not quite finished but is giving it the title of 'Bexhill on Sea'.     Flat fabulous. However when we tried to book a 2nd week with the £25 discount it would not accept it. I rang your company the following day and they asked me to forward a copy of the email which i have now done twice. I had another call requesting the same info and since then nothing. Shame really as the property was amazing.

Hastings 5.5 miles; Eastbourne 12.5 miles.

Sandwiched between Eastbourne and Hastings is the vibrant East Sussex coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea, with its traditional, two-mile promenade with deck chairs and beach huts. Bexhill-on-Sea is also home to the world-famous De La Warr Pavilion, which features excellent arts programmes throughout the year. There are many interesting shops, museums and town gardens, plus a motoring heritage centre, as the town was home to the first British motor race meeting. The town also offers excellent sporting opportunities, with good golfing, sea fishing, sailing, windsurfing, wind kiting available and for walkers, the 1066 Country Walk. Within easy travelling distance from Bexhill-on-Sea are the historic market towns of Hastings and Battle with its abbey. Battle is the famous site of the Norman conquest at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; there's an interpreted walk and museum etc which is great for a family day out. The maritime Cinque Port of Rye offers narrow cobbled streets filled with antique and independent shops and tea rooms, while boats pass along the river. A visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells is a must, boasting wonderful old buildings and excellent restaurants, tea rooms and shopping, and there are many National Trust and English Heritage properties within reach by car too. Whatever you do in this wonderful area, Bexhill-on-Sea is a lovely place to stay.
