  • "The property is unique and beautiful, in a very quiet location in the heart of the South Downs National Park."

The beds are comfy, there's plenty of space in the living room and dining room .There are plenty of walks from the door, a short walk to the Roman Villa in Bignor. Everything you could want is in the property. There is Wifi, but due to the thickness of the walls it works best in the living room. Telephone reception on Vodafone isn't brilliant but there is a signal in the garden. The gardens are relaxing and there is lots of space to enjoy warm summer evenings. The roads to the property are single track with passing places but are not busy. This is common in this part of the world. The property is close to all the major road links to all the exciting places you can visit in the area. We didn't drive more than 40 minutes to visit any of the attractions. Portsmouth and Brighton are both about an hour away. Overall a wonderful place to kick back, relax and de-stress whilst contemplating the centuries of people who have sat where you are sitting.

Thank you for the excellent feedback, we're delighted that you enjoyed all the local area has to offer and were also able to relax in this wonderful cottage. Best wishes, HideAways Property Owner

Set in a beautifully quite part of the world surrounded by trees and hedges giving total privacy. This property had character in abundance. Owners gave great communication and made use feel very welcome. If you want an idyllic week/weekend away you won't be disappointed.

  • "Perhaps one of the most intriguing houses we have used for a break."

We found the welcome and preparation for our stay very good. There is a very friendly family-home feel to the house. All furniture was comfortable. Spacious - it is clear that a full house of six would easily be accommodated. A summer booking would also benefit from the large garden space. Parking was easy. The location, for us, was ideal - we specifically wanted to visit Chichester, but also enjoyed visits to the Chichester Harbour AONB for tranquility, tearooms (Bosham), and walks. Petworth House and Grounds are definitely worth visiting for exercise, massively interesting trees and the house. The South Downs are also well worth enjoying. In short, well placed for exploration (and eating). Highly recommended at every level.

Thank you for this wonderful feedback which is much appreciated. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at The Yeoman's House and managed to visit so many interesting places in the surrounding area. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Hideaway Cottages Property Owner

It provided a rare and unique opportunity to experience living in a notable medieval property with many original features combined with modern comforts. The owners were friendly and helpful and ensured all that we needed was provided. Sitting out in the sun in the large and private garden was another welcome component of our stay. The South Downs location was stunning and very well positioned for undertaking a plethora of day trips near and far. We hope to return again.

The only (minor) niggle is that the WiFi is not strong enough to work upstairs.

Garden very pretty. Very big rooms. Lovely sofas. Liked the mezzanine with bean bags. Liked the abundance of appliances. Could benefit from a hairdryer and teabags. Thank you for all the useful restaurant and pub tips. It is situated in a pretty village on the literary trail and the walk to the Arun for a swim is lovely with lots of wild garlic around. Very responsive hostess. A delightful place.

My only suggestions would be a DVD player with the TV and a Teapot plus larger cafeteria - otherwise very happy with our stay and great communication with the owners.

  • "Great house in a great location."

If you are looking for something different then this is it. It is a very old house so there are steep staircases and the layout is a bit quirky, but plenty of space for 6 adults.

  • "Our stay at The Yeoman's House was very much enjoyed, as we used it as our base for my daughter's wedding at Bignor House on Saturday 24th September."

Everyone who stayed there or visited was enchanted by the age and character of the property as we were, and had many questions. The house looks splendid as a backdrop in some of the pre-wedding photos we took inside and outside. The wedding venue, the weather (especially as the ceremony was outside) and The Yeoman's House as our home for the weekend were all brilliant.

  • "We oohed and aahed at the house and gazed at the lovely garden settling into autumn."

We visited nearby Petworth house and village and Midhurst Cowdray estate and wondered the lanes. We took the very short walk on the footpath to the side the house to the Roman Villa and marvelled at the mosaics and walked to the White Horse pub in Sutton and had a meal. We sat on the bench by the church and enjoyed the vista and calm. We watched the pheasants on the lawn, listened to the owls, visited by robins and squirrels. We were rained on and sunned on and just relaxed for a few days. In the words of the song ' Who could ask for anything more?'

    Mr & Mrs Morris

  • "Beautiful house, spacious, very well modernised in keeping with the house, and in lovely surroundings near to a wide range of activities including walking directly from the house in the South Downs."

Very important to us was that there were 4 single beds as well as a double plus a camp bed if we had wanted it and a bed on a platform ditto. Too many houses have too m any double beds which is no good for friends sharing

  • "The place was amazing"

  • "We booked The Yeoman's House for a special occasion, and it fulfilled everything we could have wished for."

Beautiful location, gorgeous gardens, a truly historic home. We had everything we needed ...and more. We visited Arundel, the Roman Villa just a few moments walk away, and enjoyed walking on the South Downs. We would recommend Kingly Vale, the Weald and Downland Museum too.

  • "My sister and I stayed in The Yeoman's House over Easter weekend with our three young children and had a fabulous time."

The house is large and spacious and has an incredible history. The kids had an absolutely fantastic time both inside the house and running around the huge garden. With an acre to explore and a trampoline to bounce on they were never bored. We played frisbee for hours in the back garden and had an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday which we will never forget! The owners were very helpful, giving us lots of recommendations of local pubs and places of interest before we stayed. We went to a pub they recommended for lunch which was fantastic and took the kids to Singleton Open Air Museum where we got to visit another medieval house just like the Yeoman's but without the modernisation. It was fascinating. All in all it was a unique and special experience staying in such an old house with so much character and all mod cons that we thoroughly enjoyed.
