Perched in the historic town of Hastings in East Sussex, is this charming, terraced house, Castle Hill Cottage.

Boasting a central location, sea views and a delightful pastel exterior, Castle Hill Cottage is the perfect getaway for a group of four and their two canine companions to enjoy a coastal escape.

Step in to the fully-functioning kitchen, where you will find everything you need to conjure up delicious treats for your guests, including a handy dishwasher making cleaning up a breeze!

Serve up a tasty feast in the dining room which boasts an original fireplace and stone floors, and tuck-in to the fruits of your labour as you catch up with your guests.

Take advantage of the external utility which houses a washer/dryer, so you don’t have to bring your whole wardrobe away with you!

Climb the stairs to the first-floor, where you can look forward to snuggling up on the generous sofa bed in the sitting room, which offers beautiful sea views, and select your favourite TV show as the evening’s entertainment.

Pour in the bubbles and sink into a soothing soak in the beautiful roll top bath, as your towel warms on the heated towel rail nearby.

As your eyes grow heavy, take your pick of one sumptuous double bed on the second-floor and one on the third-floor king size bed, to enjoy a refreshing nights embrace.

Wake-up and take your morning coffee out on the delightful bench, taking in the beauty of your surroundings.

Pack up your swimming trunks and head straight to the pebbled beach of Hastings, where you can beachcombe the shores, take a dip in the sea or grab a tasty bite to eat from an excellent selection of eateries along the promenade.

Unleash your inner historian with a visit to the 11th-century ruins of Hastings Castle or venture to the Hastings Fisherman’s Museum where you can delve into the town’s fishing heritage.

Take a step back into the past at Smuggler’s Adventure where you can travel through a series of tunnels, stepping into the shoes of past smugglers who would frequently use these routes to transport goods.

If you can tear yourself away, Battle is nearby, where you will find the English Heritage site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings and its impressive Abbey which details the famous, historic battle.

Next stop is Rye, former home of the famous writer, Henry James, who’s red-brick Georgian home can be explored, as well as its vibrant gardens.

There is also the fascinating Rye Castle Museum which is housed in the 14th-century Ypres Tower, which offers stunning harbour views and interesting exhibits.

A true gem in the heart of Hastings, choose Castle Hill Cottage.

About the location

Battle 6 miles; Rye 12 miles.

The large historic town of Hastings offers a great mix of interesting places to visit, and is comprised of three parts, joined by the promenade. On one side is the Old Town, with narrow streets or 'twittens', attractive houses, Shipwreck and Fisherman's museums, wonderful tall black net huts, a fresh fish market, seafood restaurants and cafés. In the middle there is a contemporary shopping centre and on the other side is St Leonards on Sea with its fashionable Norman Road with antique and vintage shops, art galleries, examples of Burton's architecture (of Kew Gardens and London Zoo fame), Marine Court Art Deco flats designed in the shape of the HMS Queen Mary, and the remains of the Amsterdam, which is visible at low tide at Bulverhythe. West Hill in Hastings is home to the Smugglers Adventure and Pelham Beach, and East Hill offers the Hastings Country Park, 660 acres of ancient woodlands, grasslands and heathlands crossing five miles over cliffs and rugged terrain, plus East Hill can also be reached by taking the 'lift', the steepest funicular railway in Britain. Whilst exploring Hastings, visit The Stade and watch fishermen land their catch, plus why not take a trip to Blue Reef Aquarium and the remains of Hastings Castle? Pevensey Castle, dating from the 4th century, and the first Norman Church are twelve miles away. Further afield enjoy the NT properties of Bodiam Castle, Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle, the cinque port of Rye, the abbey at Battle or the beach and dunes at Camber Sands.
