  • "Zanzibar Beach House is an incredible place to stay."

We stayed in July 2021 to celebrate my Husband’s 50th Birthday. The styling in the house is beautiful, with great attention to detail, and everything possible you could need was there to hand. We made great use of the bar area, the kitchen area and garden with amazing hot tub. All the themed bedrooms were stunning with different beautiful features, and we were given 3 rooms all with sea views (we were only meant to have 2 sea view rooms). Perfect! Anete the manager was on hand via phone to answer any questions, and very helpful throughout our stay. We were close to lots of amenities, all within walking distance, and the sea views were just stunning. 2 underground parking spaces were available for us too, which was perfect. We are a family of 5, both kids and adults, and we were all absolutely blown away by this holiday home. A lot of thought and effort has obviously gone into this house, which needs to be appreciated! We couldn’t fault it. Thanks for an incredible stay :)

  • "Very disappointing indeed."

Down and out area. Depressing Windows filthy. TV in lounge not tuned. No music Bedrooms/toiletries /breakfast provided were appreciated. Bedrooms on the second floor were 4 huge flights of stairs up. You need to be fit. As the owner knows we only stayed for one night having paid for 5 which says it all. Our third holiday rental this summer and the only one we left early

Constructive feedback is very important to us we very rarely get to stay in the property ourselves. We provided a complimentary welcome pack as we do to all Customers consisting of a large homemade Victoria sponge, box of biscuits, coffee beans, Bottle of English sparkling wine, large rustic sourdough loaf, 4 pints of milk and an assortment of tea bags and sugar. On arrival we showed you the choice of rooms that you had for your stay and explained the music system and the TVs in the property which are in full working order with the exception of the tv on the ground floor (which needed tuning). On the flights of stairs that you mention, there are only 5 stairs on two of them, and you were welcome to stay in the rooms on the lower floors of the property (with less stairs). The property is very close to the sea and the windows do occasionally get covered in salt. The weather was windy and rainy and even though they had just been cleaned, they were covered in salt which is the price we pay for being so close to the sea. I'm so sorry this had a bearing on your experience. We were mortified to hear that you had left early and without making contact first. We live nearby and I feel confident in our ability to successfully resolve 99% of issues and concerns. Had we been made aware of anything during your stay, we would have helped you straight away to rectify the issue and to ensure you enjoyed your stay with us. Finally we hope you safely received the phone charger that we sent on to you? Thanks for taking the time to complete the feedback. We hope it hasn't dented your confidence in us and that you would consider returning to us in the future. Property Owner

  • "Our family had a fantastic stay at Zanzibar beach apartment."

This gorgeous hotel is wonderfully comfortable and stylish with the most mesmerising views of the sea. Each room is evocative of a different place in the world, a journey in itself. The owner and the staff are superbly attentive and delightful.

The property

Zanzibar Beach House is situated right on the seafront in St Leonards On Sea.

Formerly the ground and first floor of an award-winning boutique hotel, the same level of luxury and attention-to-detail has gone into creating the wonderful and mesmerising 300msq Beach House.

The boutique hotel atmosphere has been successfully retained in the 3 well-appointed ensuite bedrooms.

The addition of a cosy lounge with a big screen TV, an adaptable dining area, good sized hot tub, BBQs (gas and charcoal) and a fully-equipped domestic kitchen now mean it is a fantastic holiday let for short breaks and family get-togethers.

Netflix is available in all the rooms and there is an extensive DVD library for your use.

Each of the bedrooms has been beautifully furnished to reflect a place around the globe; be transported to the relaxing zen of ‘Japan’, or enjoy the sea views of cool, minimal ‘Antarctica’, whereas ‘South America’ affords unbroken sea views from the free-standing bath and a small balcony over-looking the English Channel.

On a clear day you can make out the coastline of France and if you’re lucky you might spot seals and porpoises frolicking in the shallows.

With Zanzibar sleeping 6 guests, you can celebrate an unforgettable occasion here with your loved ones (it is however worth noting that additional rooms are available for an additional fee).

Come together in the dramatic slate grey kitchen, home to high-quality integrated appliances, begin preparing a fantastic feast with plenty of surface space for all to lend a hand, get the wine from the cooler and head through the archway out to the bar seating area to begin your celebrations.

Step across the rustic wooden floors to take your seat at the long dining table with plush bench seating on one side, where you can admire the chandelier and vibrant decor as you tuck into a lovingly prepared family meal.

A seating area complete with a large flatscreen TV is the perfect spot for entertainment when you're not out exploring the delights of St Leonards or Hastings, as you can settle onto one of the leather sofas and relax.

Fire up the gas barbecue and delight in coming together in the beautiful sun-trap garden, with multi-levels and plenty of seating, so you can enjoy adult al-fresco dining while the kids take a dip in the bubbling hot tub.

Each bedroom offers a stunning wow-factor with extravagant decor and luxury furnishings; choose from three destination-themed sleeping spots with two offering incredible sea views.

On the first floor, enjoy the opulence of the master bedroom ‘South America’: take in the sea views from the freestanding bath and keep an eye out for porpoises from the small balcony looking out over the English Channel.

On the second floor, a Japanese spa bath lies in the corner of the calming 'Japan' king-size bedroom, while over in 'Antarctica' the snow-white furnishings are made ever brighter by the natural light from the large windows offering the beautiful sea views.

St Leonards-on-Sea is a fantastic holiday location with a pristine shingle beach and a quaint vintage feel, particularly 15 minutes’ walk away in Hastings Old Town where you will find a superb stylish, boutique independent shopping experience, with world cuisine at cafés and restaurtants, designers and makers fairs, and fashion emporiums.

The historic town of Hastings also has plenty to see and do: explore the Norman remains of Hastings Castle and the 1066 Story, visit Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, and be fascinated by The True Crime Museum.

Take a ride on the East Hill Cliff Railway, the UK's steepest funicular railway, and take in the remarkable views from the top stretching out across the Channel, get refreshments from the West Hill Café and explore some of the intrepid walks around Hastings Country Park from here.

For an unforgettable holiday in St Leonards-on-Sea, stay at Zanzibar Beach House for elegance and luxury by the sea.
