"Had a great holiday, fantastic accommodation!"
"Lovely apartment and you can tell money has been spent on doing it up."
Really comfortable bedrooms and the cinema room- stunning!!!! Showers powerful and the bath is huge!!!! Loved the upstairs bar area with hidden Marshall speaker fridge and neon sign. Sofas were really comfortable too! Only and very minor gripes/ observations - upstairs shower is very slow to drain so be cautious, towels- on the small side lol it’s a luxury property- surely bath sheets rather than bath napkins as we called them? Kitchen - oddly the only place we have stayed where there are no ‘bits and bobs’ from other guests like foil, salt and pepper, clingfilm and no dishwasher tablets provided and only 1 tea towel. Microwave very loud and not sure if that’s a potential future fault? Lastly the place is opulent and the dining table matches that but is far too big for the space. We had to plan the order of who was sitting where so the last person didn’t have to try to pass anyone else already seated. Again none of those big issues but observations on things that could maybe be considered. Would we stay again- yes without a doubt!
"The property was very well maintained and finished."
We had no questions that were not already answered in the advert. Couldn’t fault the stay. Well done
"My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Queen Elizabeth suite."
We highly recommend a vacation there to our friends and family. We we're impressed with the whole suite especially the comfortable and cosy cinema room to relax with a movie and drinks. The views and surroundings countryside are beautiful, it is the perfect base to enjoy days out in Northumberland, the North Pennines and the Lake District. Thankyou for a lovely stay.
"First impressions = WOW!"
We stayed here for a family holiday base for 5 adults, 1 child and 1 infant. We initially had a few issues - i.e - upstairs shower room door seal broken and immediately created a pool of water if ran water, no hoover present in apartment (although hard floors, there is carpets in bedrooms etc so a hoover is definately essential), water in both showers where a VERY slow drain. One message later - the owner of the property swiftly dealt with all the issues within 24hr (even after being out the day herself)... also adding to this 'she was so lovely and down to earth to talk to also' :) New seal on bath was fitted next day....and a hoover was kindly lent so we could keep ontop of our own accumulated dirt (i can see why there wasnt a hoover wasnt present on arrival if people break ones that are put in there originally (which maybe a henry hoover may be the answer (the nokia of hoovers - think youd need a bomb to break these things) lol. Also drains free flowing after visit. Anywho.... the week stay was just WOW. The apartment - although being on the top floor - was WELL WORTH THE CLIMB. the decor... beds...showers.... everything about this place, including the views where lovely. :) Thankyou to sykes and the owners for this previous week. We all loved it :)
"We had a wonderful time as family of 4 at the Queen Elizabeth suite."
Incredibly comfortable accommodation and thoroughly enjoyed the cinema suite! Brilliant location and Stanhope itself had lots of lovely food and other shops just moments away, along with the river walk and stepping stones!
"Fabulous apartment very tasteful."
Would love to stay again. Five star. Would be useful to have had a hoover or brush ... sad I know but if we dropped anything on floor we could have cleared up ☺️
"We had a lovely stay at the Queen Elizabeth Suite."
It was very modern, with a luxury element. We especially enjoyed the cinema room upstairs, it was perfect to relax in after our days exploring. The local train ride was a hit with our boys and also the stepping stones and park just down the road which was only a short walk. They also loved visiting the beaches, which are beautiful! If there was one thing that would have made the stay even better it would be if all the windows locked properly and the front door maybe had an extra bolt to lock it. As we stayed with children it was just something that we had to really watch, that being said we all had a fab time and would definitely stay again.
"Beautiful apartment conversion, fitted with good quality fixtures and furnishings, ideally located for wandering into the village centre or for walking in the dales."
Some maintenance and cleaning issues during our stay which were all reported to the owner. Freezer is a fridge with ice box rather than full freezer - important for big families to know!
Hi Clare, thank you for your honest feedback. We are always grateful to receive constructive comments, and following on from this we have addressed the maintenance and cleaning issues reported to us. We have also replaced the fridge-freezer appliance in Queen Elizabeth Suite with a brand new full under-counter freezer in hope that this will be more suitable for our guests. We hope to see you again in future! Warm regards, Rachael & Ashleigh Property Owner
"We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at Queen Elizabeth Suite."
We have stayed in one below before and both are spectacular. Spacious, comfortable and spotless. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious and have lovely furnishings and decor. The cinema room was fab. Really comfortable sofa with plenty of room for 6 people. And great for movie nights. Great sized dining table and good sized kitchen. It would be good to have some larger pans as not big enough to cook for 6, but that is the only thing and we mainly ate out at the lovely pubs and takeaways around the area. Lovely mini balcony to sit out and take in the amazing views. The only other thing that would benefit is having a hoover and mop so that people staying can hoover any bits upon leaving, and any crumbs in the kitchen. In a perfect location for exploring stanhope. Highly recommend, and will definitely return again.
"An amazing property in a beautiful area especially just befor Christmas."
Will definitely be booking again
!! Absolutely fantastic apartment. Decorated to the highest standard. We all loved it. Big enough for 6 adults and a baby to be very comfortable. Stanhope is a very friendly village. Even though it rained we were able to snuggle up in the warm very roomy cinema room. Just what we all needed for a long overdue catch up. Highly recommend the Queen Elizabeth Suite. We will be back soon.
"Loved the new lounge area, works great for 8 guests."
Key lock still not working
"Lovely support from Sykes Cottages and a brilliant stay in this great property."
"The Queen Elizabeth suite was perfect for our family of seven."
The place was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. We found everything we needed nearby.
"The house was lovely."
Spacious bedrooms and just as we expected. It made a great base for to get out and about in the area. One point to note is that it might be challenging to prepare a meal for 8 adults in the kitchen with the equipment and that cooker. Ok though if you plan to eat out or get takeaways.
"Fabulous property, amazingly clean and modern with a Perfect location."
Nice welcome back and bottle of bubbly we had a fabulous time would recommend and definitely return. Only feedback could have done with more chairs in lounge.
"Lovely clean well equipped property in a lovely village."

"The Queen Elizabeth apartment was absolutely stunning , immaculately clean , excellently facilitated, the welcome pack of wine and chocolates was a lovely touch too,its a credit to the owners."
The area of Stanhope is a great breakaway, even tho we were only an hour away from home it's a lovely place to visit. There isnt one fault I could give and certainly would be staying again. My family and I had a great weekend.Thankyou
"This was a beautiful apartment."
Decor and furnishings were great bathrooms and kitchen were of high standard and well equipped and everything was spotlessly clean . If I had any criticism it would be that the fridge was a bit small for a party of eight. All in all superb accommodation.
"The apartment was centrally located with shops pubs and take aways within 5mins walk."
The swimming pool looked ace (we didn’t go as it was so busy on a hot bank holiday weekend) and the park was lovely. The Ford next to the park was brill fun and kids loved it!! Apartment was beautifully decorated, immaculate and well equipped and it was lovely to receive a bottle of fizz and box of chocolates on arrival, thank you
"The apartment was so clean and well presented!"
We could have used more hanging space- there is no dryer and also we had rain everyday. Apart from that, the flat was more than we could have expected- lovely. We were worried about the on-street parking only, but there was plenty of space. We especially enjoyed the (mostly) independent shops being close, cafes, bakers, butchers etc. as well as a Co-op for all the rest. At the same time, a 10 minute walk took us right out into beautiful countryside.
"Beautiful accommodation in a great location."
"Very, very comfortable apartment."
Our extended family also had the Queen Anne apartment and we were accommodated perfectly. I would recommend and hopefully return one day.
"Really spacious, great location and had everything we needed Beautifully decorated to and to a high standard"
"Potatoe pealed & oven proof dish needed."
Oven & fridge not big enough for 8 people.
"Wonderful, high spec and well appointed property."
Rachel, the Manger was really welcoming and attentive upon arrival. cannot fault anything at all, cleanliness was of the highest order. Stanhope is a little gem of a hub to go exploring the North pennines, highly recommend.
"The apartment was absolutely gorgeous, with a clean and modern design finished to a very high standard with lots of extras like flowers, wine and chocolates on the pillow."
It covers 2 floors and accommodated 7 of us very easily.
"Welcome was fantastic."
The owners were lovely and very willing to go the extra mile to help and to sort out any difficulties or questions. With 4 children I was worried that it was going to be difficult to keep them occupied but far from it. The location was great! Loads to do whatever the weather - from the Roman fort and Bowes museum, Durham cathedral and steam rains for the culture, to standing under a waterfall after a fabulous and free walk in the Pennines. The heated open air pool in Stanhope was great. Lots more to do. At the end of a busy day the apartment was perfect for families. Easy to cook and wash - loads of cutlery and crockery so that you don't have to run the dishwasher between every meal as in many properties. Clean, hot showers and both showers can be used at the same time without loosing power. The fresh local eggs on arrival (as well as other goodies) were just the perfet bonus! Recommend to everyone.
